Khalil Shakir BUF WR
Bills' Khalil Shakir: New teammate in WR room
8h agoShakir has a new teammate in the receiving room after the Bills took Keon Coleman out of Florida State with the first pick of the second round Friday.
This may not be a terrible thing for Shakir's 2024 outlook, as it was doubtful the Bills were going to enter the season with such a thin wideout crew, and the attention of a big target like Coleman might allow Shakir to see better looks. The latter is coming off a 39-611-2 season in 17 regular-season games, but with Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis off to new locales, Shakir has room to grow his production in his third NFL season. For now, he and Coleman project as starters, while Curtis Samuel is more of a hybrid No. 3.

Zaven Collins ARI LB
Cardinals' Zaven Collins: Option not picked up
14h agoThe Cardinals have opted not to pick up Collins' fifth-year option, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
This move is somewhat of a surprise, as Collins' started all 33 games he has played the previous two seasons, and he projects to continue starting at defensive end in 2024. He did see his production decrease this past year in the tackle department, dropping from 100 (63) in 2022 to 41 (27 solo) in 2023. The 24-year-old is now heading into a contract year and will look to prove his value accordingly.
-
Boston Scott PHI RB
Rams' Boston Scott: Fresh start in L.A.
14h agoScott agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Rams on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Scott spent his first six seasons in Philadelphia, but he will now get a fresh start in Los Angeles. While he was never a major part of the Eagles' offense during his tenure, he saw his role as a third-down back shrink during the 2023 campaign. The 29-year-old will presumably be behind Kyren Williams and rookie Blake Corum on the Rams' depth chart, and Scott will compete with Ronnie Rivers and Zach Evans for the No. 3 role.
-
Oshane Ximines NE LB
Patriots' Oshane Ximines: Signs with New England
16h agoThe Patriots signed Ximines on Tuesday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Ximines was a third-round pick by the Giants back in 2019 but recorded just 6.5 sacks across five seasons with the team. He'll look to reboot his career in a new setting with New England.
-
Kaden Davis ARI WR
Kaden Davis: Cut by Arizona
16h agoThe Cardinals waived Davis on Tuesday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Davis spent most of the 2023 season on Arizona's practice squad. The Cardinals drafted a pair of wideouts in last week's NFL Draft, so Davis will look for work elsewhere.

Jarrett Stidham DEN QB
Broncos' Jarrett Stidham: Denver adds QB depth
16h agoFollowing the 2024 NFL Draft, Stidham is joined in the Broncos' QB room by newcomer Zach Wilson, along with No. 12 overall pick Bo Nix, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
After the Broncos released Russell Wilson last month, it was inevitable that they would add QB depth to join Stidham, who started Denver's final two contests last season. While Nix is no doubt being groomed as the team's future starter, it remains to be seen if he'll step into that role immediately. Until then, Stidham and Wilson will presumably both have an opportunity to compete for the No. 1 role, but neither veteran signal-caller profiles as a high-value fantasy option in either re-draft or dynasty formats.

Logan Webb SF SP
Giants' Logan Webb: Stumbles in Boston
4m agoWebb (3-2) took the loss Tuesday, giving up four runs on nine hits and three walks over 3.2 innings as the Giants fell 4-0 to the Red Sox. He struck out four.
After four straight starts in which he lasted at least seven innings and allowed two runs or less, Webb struggled to put away hitters and generated only four swinging strikes among his 91 pitches. Despite the stumble, the 27-year-old right-hander still sports a 2.98 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB through 42.1 innings, and he's served up just one homer so far in 2024. Webb faces a tough challenge in his next scheduled start, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in Philadelphia.
-
Jordan Montgomery ARI SP
Diamondbacks' Jordan Montgomery: Set to start Wednesday's game
18m agoMontgomery is scheduled to start Wednesday's series finale against the Dodgers at Chase Field, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
Montgomery had been in line to take the hill Tuesday, but the Diamondbacks ended up scratching him from the start after he had gone through a full warmup while a bee swarm near the netting at home plate forced a two-hour delay before the game finally got underway. The Diamondbacks opted for an impromptu bullpen game in the eventual 4-3 extra-inning win, and Montgomery and Arizona's other rotation members will all get pushed back one day in the pitching schedule as a result.
-
Kyle Leahy STL RP
Cardinals' Kyle Leahy: Returns to Triple-A
22m agoThe Cardinals returned Leahy to Triple-A Memphis following Tuesday's doubleheader with the Tigers, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Leahy received his first call-up of 2024 on Tuesday, serving as the Cardinals' 27th man for the twin bill. He came on in relief of starter Steven Matz in the Cardinals' 11-6 loss in Game 2, taking the loss while allowing two earned runs on two hits in 1.1 innings.
-
Landon Knack LAD SP
Dodgers' Landon Knack: Quiets Arizona Tuesday
25m agoKnack did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's extra innings loss to the Diamondbacks. He allowed one run on four hits and a walk while striking out two over five innings.
Knack's only major blemish on the evening was a fourth inning solo home run by Christian Walker. Otherwise, the 26-year-old held the Diamondbacks in check, though he only threw 64 pitches after a bee colony behind home plate caused an extended delay to the game and disrupted his warmup routine. Still, Knack has been impressive in his three starts thus far, posting a 2.81 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 11:5 K:BB in 16 innings. Manager Dave Roberts has not announced another start for Knack, as it's possible Walker Buehler (elbow) replaces him in the rotation next week after throwing five innings in his most recent minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday.
-
Kent Emanuel MIA RP
Marlins' Kent Emanuel: Outrighted to Triple-A
29m agoEmanuel cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Jacksonville by the Marlins on Tuesday.
The southpaw is no longer on the 40-man roster but will remain in the organization. Emanuel has allowed eight runs (seven earned) over six relief innings with the Marlins this season.
-
Steven Matz STL SP
Cardinals' Steven Matz: Pitched through back injury Tuesday
37m agoMatz pitched through a lower-back injury during Tuesday's loss to the Tigers, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Matz first dealt with soreness while jogging a few days before his start, but he responded well to treatments and didn't have an issue during his between-starts bullpen session, clearing the way for him to make his scheduled start. However, Matz's velocity was well down in the outing and he wound up allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks over 3.1 innings, admitting after the start that he "wasn't able to finish like I normally do." The Cardinals weren't ready to say after the outing whether Matz might need a trip to the injured list, but it sounds like it could be a possibility. The lefty's next outing is tentatively lined up to come either Sunday versus the White Sox or Monday against the Mets.

Andre Jackson Jr. MIL SF
Bucks' Andre Jackson: Fails to score in seven minutes
8h agoJackson chipped in zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt) and one assist across seven minutes during Tuesday's 115-92 win over the Pacers in Game 5 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Jackson played limited minutes off the bench as the Bucks took care of business in front of a vocal home crowd. Strictly used as a depth piece, Jackson is not someone we should expect to see on the court for any significant amount of time moving forward.
-
Bobby Portis MIL PF
Bucks' Bobby Portis: Dominates in Game 5 victory
8h agoPortis racked up 29 points (14-24 FG, 1-3 3Pt), 10 rebounds, one assist and one steal over 39 minutes during Tuesday's 115-92 victory over the Pacers in Game 5 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Portis atoned for his ejection in Game 4, leading the Bucks to an emphatic victory. He led all scorers with 29 points, having his way on the interior against a Pacers team that looked totally out-enthused. With Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf) still on the sideline, Portis has been the primary beneficiary. Milwaukee will need for him to replicate this performance should they hope to force a Game 7.
-
Patrick Beverley MIL PG
Bucks' Patrick Beverley: Double-doubles in victory
8h agoBeverley accumulated 13 points (4-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 4-5 FT), four rebounds, 12 assists, one block and two steals in 36 minutes during Tuesday's 115-92 win over Indiana in Game 5 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Beverley turned back the clock in the victory, racking up his first double-double of the season. With Damian Lillard (Achilles) sidelined, Beverley has stepped into a much larger role than anticipated. If the Bucks are to force a Game 7, he will need to once again be at the height of his powers.
-
T.J. McConnell IND PG
Pacers' T.J. McConnell: Quiet in Game 5 loss
8h agoMcConnell logged six points (3-10 FG, 0-2 3Pt), three rebounds and three assists in 16 minutes during Tuesday's 115-92 loss to the Bucks in Game 5 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
McConnell failed to have a significant impact in the loss, continuing his underwhelming series. The Pacers were never really in this one, falling behind early and giving the Bucks some much-needed momentum. Game 6 is in Indiana on Thursday, providing the Pacers with another opportunity to advance to the second round.
-
Jarace Walker IND PF
Pacers' Jarace Walker: Rare appearance Tuesday
8h agoWalker notched one assist over five minutes during Tuesday's 115-92 loss to Milwaukee in Game 5 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Walker played a handful of minutes as the Pacers were blown out by the Bucks in Game 5 of their playoff series. Despite flashes throughout the season, Walker has basically been an afterthought when it comes to meaningful minutes. The two teams will line up again Thursday, as the Pacers try to wrap things up on their home court.
-
Aaron Nesmith IND SF
Pacers' Aaron Nesmith: Passive performance in loss
8h agoNesmith registered seven points (3-9 FG, 1-5 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist, three blocks and one steal across 27 minutes during Tuesday's 115-92 loss to the Bucks in Game 5 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Nesmith salvaged a rough shooting night with modest across-the-board production. Despite playing a significant role, he has been unable to rediscover his form from earlier in the season. While the loss was far from ideal, the Pacers will now head home for Game 6, where they will attempt to wrap up the series.
-
Quinn Hughes VAN D
Canucks' Quinn Hughes: Bags apple in loss
7h agoHughes posted an assist and three shots on goal in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Predators in Game 5.
Hughes is up to five assists, eight shots on net and six blocked shots over five playoff contests. He set up Nikita Zadorov for the opening goal in the third period, though the Canucks couldn't hold that narrow lead. Hughes' play hasn't been as consistent in the playoffs, but he's still seeing a massive workload on the top pairing.
-
Nikita Zadorov VAN D
Canucks' Nikita Zadorov: Tallies again in Game 5
7h agoZadorov scored a goal, added two PIM and logged four hits in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Predators in Game 5.
For the second time in five playoff games, Zadorov had the Canucks' lone goal in a loss. The defenseman has three points, eight shots on net, 22 hits and a plus-1 rating so far in the postseason. He remains on the third pairing on paper, but he's exceeded 20 minutes of ice time in each of the last three games, as it appears he's earned extra responsibility from head coach Rick Tocchet.
-
Arturs Silovs VAN G
Canucks' Arturs Silovs: Can't close out series
8h agoSilovs stopped 20 of 22 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Predators in Game 5.
Silovs gave up goals to Roman Josi and Alexandre Carrier in the third period of a low-scoring loss. With five goals allowed on 52 shots, Silovs has been solid in his two playoff appearances. The 23-year-old may still end up ceding the crease back to Casey DeSmith, who served as backup Tuesday after missing Sunday's Game 4 with a lower-body injury. The Canucks will get their second chance to advance in Friday's Game 6 in Nashville.
-
Tyson Barrie NSH D
Predators' Tyson Barrie: Enters lineup, earns assist
8h agoBarrie posted a power-play assist in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Canucks in Game 5.
Barrie had been scratched for 13 straight games before entering the lineup Tuesday for Luke Schenn (illness). It worked out fine, as Barrie helped out on Roman Josi's game-tying goal in the third period. Barrie had just 15 points in 41 regular-season outings this season, and he'll likely be back in the press box once Schenn is healthy enough to return to the lineup.
-
Gustav Nyquist NSH C
Predators' Gustav Nyquist: Earns helper in Game 5 win
8h agoNyquist produced an assist and two shots on goal in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Canucks in Game 5.
Nyquist set up Alexandre Carrier for the game-winning goal in the third period. The 34-year-old Nyquist has a goal, three assists, five shots on net and five hits over five playoff appearances. The winger should continue to fill a playmaking role on the Predators' top line as they return home for another elimination game Friday.
-
Filip Forsberg NSH LW
Predators' Filip Forsberg: Two helpers in win
8h agoForsberg provided a pair of assists, two shots on goal and four hits in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Canucks in Game 5.
Forsberg helped out on third-period tallies by Roman Josi and Alexandre Carrier to keep the Predators' season alive for another game. Through five playoff outings, Forsberg has been solid with two goals, four assists, 14 shots on net and 17 hits. The 29-year-old winger will continue to play a leading role on offense, which will also see him earn significant power-play minutes.
