Ravens' T.J. Tampa: Good value for Baltimore
    1m ago

The Ravens selected Tampa in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 130th overall.

Tampa is an excellent athlete, as he played wide receiver in high school and also got scholarship offers to play basketball at the collegiate level. He produced well as an upperclassman at Iowa State, posting 19 passes defensed and three picks across his final 24 collegiate games. Tampa is known as a quick corner with good size and was projected to go on Day 2 of the draft. Instead, he'll have the chance to provide late-round value to a Baltimore secondary that was due for some depth -- potentially even finding his way onto the field as a rookie.

49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Joins loaded San Fran backfield
    4m ago

The 49ers selected Guerendo in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 129th overall.

The 49ers traded up in the fourth to acquire Guerendo amidst a positional run at running backs. While so many of Guerendo's draft-eligible counterparts saw their value plummet at the Combine, the Louisville product posted the fastest 40 time among RBs (4.33) and impressive jumping marks to bolster what was an otherwise incomplete six-year collegiate career. That the 2018 high-school recruit was buried behind a number of legitimate NFL caliber running backs at Wisconsin shouldn't scare off fantasy managers, but multiple season-ending soft-tissue injuries should at least raise some red flags. Provided he's able to stay healthy, Guerendo's speed will easily find a way onto the field for San Francisco, even if it's just on a limited basis.

Bills' Ray Davis: Buffalo adds fourth-round runner
    4m ago

The Bills selected Davis in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 128th overall.

Davis (5-foot-8, 211 pounds) might not look big but he's a rugged runner with a dense build and the correct lean for managing traffic in the teeth of the defense, making him surprisingly difficult to get a hold off between the tackles. Davis was a high-volume runner for all of Temple, Vanderbilt and Kentucky at various points, in each case carrying the offense despite getting little or no help from the team around him. Davis' strong anchor is supplemented by at least average athleticism (4.52-second 40-yard dash) and he has the pass-catching skills necessary to make a positive impact on passing downs, so he makes himself a viable option for nearly any playcall. Of course, incumbent starter James Cook is one of the NFL's most productive pass-catching backs, so Davis is unlikely to see much usage in that specific capacity with Buffalo, but Davis is likely a better power runner than Cook and could steal some looks in short-yardage situations. If the Bills don't add any other running backs then Davis could enter 2024 as one of the most valuable handcuff running backs.

Eagles' Will Shipley: Flies to Philly in Fourth Round
    11m ago

The Eagles selected Shipley in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 127th overall.

Those hoping for Shipley to make an immediate impact as a rookie may be disappointed with this selection as the Eagles gave Saquon Barkley a big contract this offseason. Still, Shipley profiles as a solid depth option behind Barkley, who has had durability issues. Shipley starred at Clemson for three years after being ranked as a five-star recruit in high school. He topped out with 210 carries for 1,182 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2022 and was more so part of a committee as a junior. Shipley did not test at the combine due to a knee issue but put down a 4.45 in the 40 at Clemson's pro day. He may not be built for workhorse functions but can be a rotational rusher with some pass-catching assignments as well given his 69 receptions on 85 targets in his final two seasons in college. Shipley is a better back right now than Kenneth Gainwell, but that hasn't stopped Philadelphia from giving Gainwell the snaps anyway in the past.

49ers' Malik Mustapha: San Francisco adds in fourth round
    13m ago

The 49ers selected Mustapha in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 124th overall.

Mustapha (5-foot-10, 209 pounds) is a burly safety out of Wake Forest with a downhill but explosive game, providing not just a physical presence but one that flies in screaming. He might even be comparable to his new teammate Talanoa Hufanga, who has made a mark the last two years as the strong safety in the 49ers defense. The 49ers doubtlessly love Hufanga, but he is returning from a Week 11 ACL tear and is in the last year of his contract. Mustapha, out of Wake Forest, might be the tentative long-term replacement if the 49ers can't find the necessary cap space for a Hufanga extension. If Mustapha can earn a three-down role at some point, he would likely project as a standout IDP option due to his consistent presence in the box.

Buccaneers' Bucky Irving: Finds landing spot in Tampa
    18m ago

The Buccaneers selected Irving in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 125th overall.

Given the muddled nature of the incoming rookie running backs, Irving was presumed to be one of the draft's best options following back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons with Oregon. A historically bad combine performance (4.55 40-yard dash at 192 pounds) saw Irving completely fall out of that conversation, but the landing spot Saturday might afford the 21-year-old an opportunity to play relevant snaps immediately with his new team. Rachaad White absorbed almost 350 touches last season with the team devoid of a true backup option, and while Irving's athletic testing was hardly pristine, the two-year starter was a capable enough runner and talented pass catcher in college that he'll act as a facsimile of sorts for the aforementioned White.

Orioles' Kyle Bradish: Set to rejoin rotation
    11m ago

Manager Brandon Hyde said Saturday that Bradish (elbow) is returning to the to the Orioles' rotation, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports.

Bradish's return to the starting rotation couldn't come soon enough for the Orioles with John Means (forearm) and Tyler Wells (elbow) both on the 15-day IL. Bradish made three rehab starts while progressing through a right UCL sprain that landed him on the 15-day injured list at the beginning of the season. He pitched well in his last rehab outing with Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk while striking out six over five frames, and the 27-year-old is ready to make his next start in the majors. The right-hander could rejoin Baltimore as part of a six-man rotation, with Hyde noting that "everything is up on the table right now."

Bucks' Damian Lillard: Game 4 in doubt
    1h ago

Lillard suffered a strained Achilles in Friday's loss to the Pacers and there is serious doubt over his availability for Game 4 on Sunday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Lillard was able to return to Game 3 after suffering the injury and finished the contest with 28 points (6-20 FG, 4-12 3Pt, 12-12 FT), eight assists, three steals and one rebound over 45 minutes. Final confirmation on his status Sunday will presumably come closer to game time. AJ Green, Andre Jackson and Malik Beasley would all be candidates to see increased minutes alongside Patrick Beverley in the backcourt should Lillard indeed need to sit out.

Knicks' Mitchell Robinson: Does not practice Saturday
    1h ago

Robinson (ankle) was a non-participant at Saturday's practice, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports.

Robinson was seen wearing a walking boot on his sprained left ankle following an early exit in Thursday's 125-114 loss to the 76ers. He had accumulated two points (1-3 FG, 0-2 FT) and seven rebounds across 12 minutes before leaving. His absence from Saturdays' practice is not a good sign for his status for Sunday's Game 4, but the team has not ruled the big man out. If he ultimately does not get the green light, Precious Achiuwa figures to serve as the primary backup behind Isaiah Hartenstein.

Suns' Devin Booker: Delivers eight dimes in Game 3 loss

Booker accumulated 23 points (8-15 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 6-6 FT), three rebounds, eight assists and two steals in 42 minutes during Friday's 126-109 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 3 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.

Booker finished just two assists away from recording a double-double in Game 3, and the star guard will need to be at his best Sunday if the Suns want to avoid getting swept in the first round. Booker's scoring numbers have increased with each passing game in the series, though this was the first time he surpassed the 20-point plateau.

Suns' Bradley Beal: Scores team-high 28 points Friday

Beal finished Friday's 126-109 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 3 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs with 28 points (10-19 FG, 6-11 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds and four assists in 43 minutes.

Beal led the Suns in scoring Friday, but as has been the case throughout the series, Phoenix simply hasn't been able to hang on with the Timberwolves throughout an entire game, which explains the 0-3 deficit the Suns are currently in right now. This was the first team Beal surpassed the 15-point mark in the series, and the veteran guard will need to keep the momentum going for Game 4 on Sunday if the Suns want to avoid getting swept in the first round.

Suns' Kevin Durant: Puts up 25 points in loss Friday

Durant had 25 points (8-18 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 8-9 FT), four rebounds and five assists across 42 minutes during Friday's 126-109 loss to Minnesota in Game 3 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.

Durant bounced back from a subpar showing in Game 2, at least for his lofty standards, and he had a strong showing in Game 3, but once again, his contributions were not enough to lift the Suns to victory as Phoenix fell into an 0-3 deficit. Durant will need to be at his best if the Suns want to avoid the sweep in Game 4 on Sunday. He's averaging 24.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game in the series.

Gobert's scoring numbers have increased with each passing game in the series, though the increased offensive responsibility in Game 3 was directly related to Karl-Anthony Towns being limited with foul trouble. Gobert also has two double-doubles in three games during he current series, averaging 17.0 points and 13.0 boards per contest.
