  • Walter Rouse 2005 OT
    Vikings' Walter Rouse: Joins Minnesota
    5m ago

The Vikings selected Rouse in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 177th overall.

The Vikings are woefully thin at tackle with just three on the active roster prior to Rouse's selection. The 23-year-old started four seasons for Stanford before transferring to Oklahoma as a fifth-year senior, ultimately earning Honorable Mention All-Big 12 honors. While Rouse has only played left tackle, it's possibly the team views him as a swing tackle provided he makes the final roster.

Jets' Qwan'tez Stiggers: New York snatches at end of Round 5
    5m ago

The Jets selected Stiggers in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 176th overall.

Stiggers had to take an unorthodox path to the NFL due to life circumstances that prevented him from playing college football in the US, but after a long story he managed to draw the interest of the CFL, where he won the equivalent of their Rookie of the Year award. Still only 22 years old, Stiggers is a legitimate prospect at corner despite the many unprecedented details in his profile. At 6-feet, 204 pounds it will be interesting to see if Stiggers gets some looks at safety, but he otherwise profiles as a heavy corner.

Saints' Jaylan Ford: Big Easy bound
    13m ago

The Saints selected Ford in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 175th overall.

The former Texas Longhorn comes to the NFL with two 100-tackle seasons under his belt. Ford is not known as a top-tier athlete but he's a tackling machine with a knack for playmaking as he recorded six interceptions in his last two seasons in Austin. He played middle linebacker at Texas and profiles as a depth piece behind Demario Davis.

Cowboys' Caelen Carson: Fall ends with Dallas
    14m ago

The Cowboys selected Carson in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 174th overall.

Carson boasted strong on-ball production across four seasons at Wake Forest, as he tallied 29 passes defensed in 36 games. His fall was almost certainly caused by injury concerns, however, as he battled a range of lower-body injuries during his time with the Demon Deacons. He has just mediocre height (6-foot-0) and length (52nd percentile wingspan), which could hint at a role in the slot as a pro, though he did play outside during his collegiate career.

Jets' Isaiah Davis: Another back behind Hall
    25m ago

The Jets selected Davis in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 173rd overall.

Davis becomes the second running back drafted by the Jets during Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft and joins presumed top backup, Israel Abanikanda as the second running back drafted by the team in the fifth round in consecutive years. Davis was the catalyst for South Dakota State's back-to-back national championship stretch tallying almost 3,000 combined yards on the ground and 33 touchdowns over the past two seasons. He doesn't provide much in the passing game and it's unclear if his 4.57 speed will translate to the NFL level, but the 22-year-old is at least an intriguing candidate to push for snaps in a loaded Jets backfield.

Eagles' Trevor Keegan: Philly adds fifth-round blocker
    26m ago

The Eagles selected Keegan in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 172nd overall.

Keegan is a bit thin for a guard (6-foot-5, 310 pounds) and lacks the reach to play at tackle (32 and 3/8-inch arms), but he's a three-year starter from a dominant Michigan offensive line and he might have just enough athleticism to develop into a viable NFL starter. Keegan's 5.24-second 40-yard dash, 30.5-inch vertical and 107-inch broad jump were all well above average by guard standards, so Keegan might be able to add some useful weight without falling below the league average line for athleticism. If he can shore up his power element then Keegan wouldn't have any obvious limitations.

Pivetta (elbow) is pencilled in to make a rehab start Thursday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

He threw 50 pitches in a live batting practice session Saturday, so Pivetta may only need one rehab outing before rejoining the big-league rotation. If he does return after Thursday's rehab start, Pivetta would line up to start in the two-game series in Atlanta on either May 8 or May 9.

Noda is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Orioles.

Cubs' Justin Steele: Rehab assignment approaching
    1h ago

Manager Craig Counsell said Saturday that Steele (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Counsell didn't say how many starts the Cubs want Steele to make in the minors, but the 28-year-old southpaw is likely in for multiple rehab outings after sitting out roughly a month due to a strained left hamstring. Assuming his assignment goes smoothly, Steele will likely return to Chicago's rotation toward the middle of May.

Clippers' Kawhi Leonard: Will be questionable for Game 4
    5m ago

Leonard (knee) will be questionable for Sunday's Game 4 against the Mavericks, head coach Tyronn Lue told Joey Linn of SI.com.

Leonard logged 25 minutes in Friday's Game 3 loss, finishing with nine points (4-7 FG, 1-1 FT), nine rebounds and two assists, but he didn't look as fluid in his movements as he did in Game 2, where he was able to play 35 minutes while pouring 15 points, seven rebounds and four steals. His official status will be determined closer to Sunday's 3.30 p.m. ET tipoff, but if he's ruled out, then Terance Mann and Amir Coffey would be in line to pick up extra minutes.

Bucks' Damian Lillard: Game 4 in doubt
    4h ago

Lillard suffered a strained Achilles in Friday's loss to the Pacers and there is serious doubt over his availability for Game 4 on Sunday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Lillard was able to return to Game 3 after suffering the injury and finished the contest with 28 points (6-20 FG, 4-12 3Pt, 12-12 FT), eight assists, three steals and one rebound over 45 minutes. Final confirmation on his status Sunday will presumably come closer to game time. AJ Green, Andre Jackson and Malik Beasley would all be candidates to see increased minutes alongside Patrick Beverley in the backcourt should Lillard indeed need to sit out.

Knicks' Mitchell Robinson: Does not practice Saturday
    4h ago

Robinson (ankle) was a non-participant at Saturday's practice, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports.

Robinson was seen wearing a walking boot on his sprained left ankle following an early exit in Thursday's 125-114 loss to the 76ers. He had accumulated two points (1-3 FG, 0-2 FT) and seven rebounds across 12 minutes before leaving. His absence from Saturdays' practice is not a good sign for his status for Sunday's Game 4, but the team has not ruled the big man out. If he ultimately does not get the green light, Precious Achiuwa figures to serve as the primary backup behind Isaiah Hartenstein.

Suns' Devin Booker: Delivers eight dimes in Game 3 loss

Booker finished just two assists away from recording a double-double in Game 3, and the star guard will need to be at his best Sunday if the Suns want to avoid getting swept in the first round. Booker's scoring numbers have increased with each passing game in the series, though this was the first time he surpassed the 20-point plateau.

That's part of a larger hot streak in which he's posted a 2.12 GAA and a .925 save percentage over his past 13 appearances. Dallas ranked third offensively in the regular season with 3.59 goals per contest, so the Stars shouldn't be taken lightly, even after being defeated by Vegas twice.
