3h agoThe Jaguars released Slye on Tuesday.
Slye inked with Jacksonville as a free agent back in March, but he's now lost his spot on the roster to rookie sixth-round pick Cam Little. Meanwhile, Riley Patterson remains with the Jaguars as potential offseason competition for Little. Slye converted 19 of 24 field-goal tries and 32 of 35 extra-point attempts across 17 games with Washington last season.

Zay Jones JAC WRZay Jones: Released by Jacksonville
3h agoThe Jaguars released Jones on Tuesday.
Jones' release comes shortly following Jacksonville's selection of rookie Brian Thomas in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The 29-year-old missed all but nine games last season due to a PCL injury, and despite now being healthy, his release saves the Jaguars a notable $4.2 million in cap space. In addition to Thomas, Christian Kirk and Gabe Davis round out Trevor Lawrence's clear top three wideouts, while Jones will work to find a landing spot elsewhere in the league.

4h agoPearsall may not see the field often as a rookie after being drafted by the 49ers, who have all three starting wideouts returning for the 2024 campaign, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
San Francisco's selection of Pearsall at the tail end of the first round of the draft came as a bit of a surprise, both from a draft slot and roster build standpoint. The 49ers currently have all three of its starting wide receivers under contract for the 2024 season, so the team's first selection may not receive enough playing time to make a significant fantasy impact as a rookie. Perhaps the front office drafted the Florida product with an eye on next offseason, when current starters Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings are expected to hit free agency. Pearsall is an explosive talent who projects to put up fantasy numbers at some point during his career, it just may not happen right off the bat on a loaded 49ers offense.

17h agoGallup agreed to terms on a one-year, $3 million contract with the Raiders on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
After a six-year stint in Dallas to start his career, Gallup will get a fresh start in Las Vegas. His second year with the Cowboys generated plenty of optimism, as he tallied 1,107 yards receiving to go along with six touchdowns. However, he has failed to replicate those types of numbers since. With Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers locked in as the Raiders' top pass catchers, Gallup will compete with the likes of Tre Tucker and DJ Turner, among others, for the No. 3 pass-catching role.

18h agoSamuel has a new teammate in the receiving room after the Bills took Keon Coleman out of Florida State with the first pick of the second round Friday.
Samuel, signed as a free agent in March, was never going to be a No. 1 or even a No. 2 in Buffalo, but now we at least know who's been brought in ahead of him on the depth chart. It's a mild surprise the Bills chose only one receiver with their 10 draft picks, so for now the versatile Samuel likely sits No. 3 in the pecking order behind Khalil Shakir and Coleman. That said, this is a perfect offense for Samuel's skill set, and he'll be a weapon of some sort once things get going, just not the primary receiving option.

The Giants opted not to hold on to Lemieux after the termination of his rookie contract, but he's now found another chance with the Saints. He's set to compete for a roster spot among an offensive line that underwhelmed in 2023.

4m agoButler entered Monday's win over the Pirates as a pinch runner in the bottom of the seventh inning as a pinch runner and remained in the game in right field, recording a stolen base but not logging a plate appearance.
Butler was able to work himself into scoring position by swiping second after entering the game for Tyler Nevin, but he was stranded when Ryan Noda struck out looking to end the frame. Butler's steal was his second of the season, but he continues to struggle to get going against big-league arms as evidenced by his .205 average and .660 OPS across 85 plate appearances. With Tyler Nevin thriving at the plate and next in line for right field duties, Butler may be a candidate for a reduction in playing time in the near future if his difficulties persist.

Esteury Ruiz OAK LFAthletics' Esteury Ruiz: Productive out of leadoff spot
12m agoRuiz went 1-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a run in a win over the Pirates on Monday.
Five of Ruiz's nine hits on the season have now gone for extra bases, leading to his considerably surprising .528 slugging percentage across 42 plate appearances. The speedy outfielder has seen an increase in strikeout rate to 23.8 percent and is sporting a bloated 34.8 percent chase rate as well, but the Athletics might be willing to live with some of that if Ruiz can continue to demonstrate improved pop after posting a middling .654 OPS across 132 games in 2023.

Canha started the previous seven games and hit .407 with three doubles and two homers during that span, but he'll take a seat for Tuesday's matinee. Riley Greene will receive a turn at designated hitter while Wenceel Perez gets a start in the outfield.

16m agoVoth (1-0) got the win over Atlanta on Monday, allowing a hit and striking out the side over one inning.
Asked to keep the Mariners' deficit at one run when he entered in the ninth, Voth got matters off on the wrong foot by allowing a leadoff single to Jarred Kelenic. Subsequently faced with the daunting gauntlet of Ronald Acuna, Ozzie Albies and Austin Riley, Voth cranked it up several notches by striking out all three sluggers, the latter two swinging. He was then rewarded with the victory after Mitch Garver slugged a walk-off two-run home run in the home half of the frame, putting a a fitting cap on Voth's fourth straight appearance without allowing an earned run. The veteran right-hander does not yet have a hold or save, but he's now carrying an impressive 2.84 ERA and 1.03 WHIP across 12.2 innings.

Kelly has been dealing with soreness in his left ribcage recently but will start Game 1 of Tuesday's twin bill, which is his first start since April 23. Jake Rogers should be behind the plate in the nightcap.

19m agoTucker went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base in a 6-5 victory versus Philadelphia on Monday.
Tucker was called up to the big club Monday afternoon and batted seventh while working as the Angels' DH. The 27-year-old made a tangible impact in his team debut, walking and stealing a base in his first plate appearance, then tying the game with a run-scoring single in the sixth inning. It's unclear how often Tucker will be in the lineup since he doesn't have an obvious path to everyday playing time.

Allen is a late addition to the injury report, and his availability is in jeopardy for the critical Game 5 in Cleveland. The big man has arguably been the MVP for the Cavaliers in the opening-round series, as he's averaged 17.0 points, 13.8 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks in 31.8 minutes over the first four matchups. After dominating Jonathan Isaac in the first two games, Orlando countered by moving Wendell Carter back into the starting lineup. While the Magic won the last two games with Carter as a starter, Allen has still been able to produce offensively, though his rebounding numbers haven't been as prolific as they were to start the series.

Oubre did not attend the morning shootaround, but the 76ers are still expecting him to play Tuesday evening. Oubre was sharp in Game 4, producing 19 points (7-15 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 40 minutes.

There's been no change to his status for Tuesday's Game 5 versus the Knicks, so Embiid remains questionable to play due to his left knee soreness. Despite the questionable tag, it would be a major surprise if Embiid was held out with Philadelphia's season on the line.

10h agoLove amassed zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt), four rebounds and one assist in six minutes during Monday's 102-88 loss to the Celtics in Game 4 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Love logged just six minutes, failing to have any sort of real impact against an impressive Celtics squad. At this point in his career, Love doesn't have enough in the tank to provide Miami with meaningful production. As has been the case for the last years, Love will not be a viable fantasy option next season.

10h agoRobinson finished Monday's 102-88 loss to Boston in Game 4 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs with zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and one assist over three minutes.
Robinson hit rock bottom in the loss, failing to score in only three minutes of playing time. It's a far cry from what he did during the regular season and highlights how unimpactful he can be. The Heat will now head back to Boston where they will attempt to extend the series beyond five games.

10h agoMills closed Monday's 102-88 loss to Boston in Game 4 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs with nine points (3-8 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), one rebound and one assist in 22 minutes.
Mills played a few extra minutes in the loss as the Heat fell to the Celtics in Game 4. Although they managed to win away from home in Game 2, there is a decent chance this series will come to an end Wednesday. Beyond this season, it's hard to see Mills having any sustainable fantasy value.

41m agoWoll will guard the road net Tuesday in Game 5 against Boston, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
Woll will make his first start this postseason after Ilya Samsonov went 1-3 with a 3.31 GAA and an .883 save percentage in the opening four contests of the series. The 25-year-old Woll stopped all five shots he faced during Saturday's relief appearance in Game 4. He posted a mark of 0-2-1 versus the Bruins during the 2023-24 regular season, surrendering 12 goals on 89 shots. The Maple Leafs need a win in Game 5 to force Game 6 back in Toronto on Thursday.

Matthews didn't stay on the ice long during the team's game-day skate, raising doubts regarding his availability. Still, if the 26-year-old California native can get the all-clear from the team doctors, he should immediately reclaim both his top-line and No. 1 power-play roles. By Matthews' standards, he has struggled offensively of late with just one goal in his last six outings.

Lilleberg will join up with the Crunch, who are tied 1-1 in a best-of-five series against AHL Rochester. At the NHL level this season, the 23-year-old blueliner played in 37 games in which he tallied five helpers, 105 hits and 31 shots, though he is still looking for his first NHL goal.
