Zaven Collins ARI LB
Cardinals' Zaven Collins: Option not picked up
2h agoThe Cardinals have opted not to pick up Collins' fifth-year option, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
This move is somewhat of a surprise, as Collins' started all 33 games he has played the previous two seasons, and he projects to continue starting at defensive end in 2024. He did see his production decrease this past year in the tackle department, dropping from 100 (63) in 2022 to 41 (27 solo) in 2023. The 24-year-old is now heading into a contract year and will look to prove his value accordingly.

Boston Scott PHI RB
Rams' Boston Scott: Fresh start in LA
2h agoScott agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Rams on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Scott spent his first six seasons in Philadelphia, but he will now get a fresh start in Los Angeles. While he was never a major part of the Eagles' offense during his tenure, he saw his role as a third-down back shrink during the 2023 campaign. The 29-year-old will presumably be behind Kyren Williams and rookie Blake Corum on the Rams' depth chart, and Scott will compete with Ronnie Rivers and Zach Evans for the No. 3 role.
-
Kaden Davis ARI WR
Kaden Davis: Cut by Arizona
4h agoThe Cardinals waived Davis on Tuesday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Davis spent most of the 2023 season on Arizona's practice squad. The Cardinals drafted a pair of wideouts in last week's NFL Draft, so Davis will look for work elsewhere.

Jarrett Stidham DEN QB
Broncos' Jarrett Stidham: Denver adds QB depth
4h agoFollowing the 2024 NFL Draft, Stidham is joined in the Broncos' QB room by newcomer Zach Wilson, along with No. 12 overall pick Bo Nix, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
After the Broncos released Russell Wilson last month, it was inevitable that they would add QB depth to join Stidham, who started Denver's final two contests last season. While Nix is no doubt being groomed as the team's future starter, it remains to be seen if he'll step into that role immediately. Until then, Stidham and Wilson will presumably both have an opportunity to compete for the No. 1 role, but neither veteran signal-caller profiles as a high-value fantasy option in either re-draft or dynasty formats.

James Conner ARI RB
Cardinals' James Conner: Leader of improved backfield
4h agoRookie third-round pick Trey Benson is unlikely to take Conner's starting job but may eventually force a timeshare in the Cardinals' backfield, according to KC Joyner of The Athletic.
Conner has missed multiple games in each of his seven NFL seasons, though never more than six in any one year, so any competition for touches could sort itself out. His 2023 included career highs for rushing yards (1,040) and yards per carry (5.0), with the downside being his fewest targets (33) and catches (27, 2.1 per game) since he was a barely-used rookie with Pittsburgh in 2017. The lack of receiving volume was partially a product of Emari Demercado getting playing time in passing situations, and it's worth noting that the Cardinals have two other backs in Michael Carter, DeeJay Dallas with track records as passing-down specialists. That said, Conner still figures to be the starter and lead runner, with Benson being the main threat to poach carries and TDs even if other guys are in the mix on passing downs.

Josh Jacobs GB RB
Packers' Josh Jacobs: Joined by third-round pick in backfield
4h agoThe Packers drafted MarShawn Lloyd in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft to join Jacobs and AJ Dillon in their remade backfield, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic report.
The decision to release Aaron Jones and sign Jacobs as a replacement likely had a lot to do with the latter being younger, larger and more capable of handling big workloads. It's nonetheless a bit difficult to project Jacobs' touch/snap counts for the upcoming season, as coach Matt LaFleur has almost always used a two-back approach when he's had his top two RBs healthy. On the other hand, there were many instances when LaFleur leaned heavily on Jones or Dillon, or Jamaal Williams before that, when one of Green Bay's top backs wasn't available, rather than giving a third-stringer a larger role. The extent of Jacobs' usage may depend on LaFleur's confidence in Dillon and/or Lloyd moreso than Jacobs' perceived ability to take on huge workloads. Dillon plodded through 2023 and has seen his YPC drop each of his seasons in the NFL, while Lloyd looks faster and more explosive but comes with glaring ball-security issues after fumbling eight times on 325 touches during his college career.

Miguel Sano LAA DH
Angels' Miguel Sano: Remains out Tuesday
1m agoSano (knee) isn't in the Angels' lineup Tuesday against the Phillies.
Knee inflammation will cause Sano to miss his fourth consecutive game, and the 30-year-old infielder could end up on the injured list if he's unable to return to the lineup soon. Cole Tucker will serve as the Angels' DH and bat seventh while Sano sits.
-
Jacob Webb BAL RP
Orioles' Jacob Webb: Grabs first save
6m agoWebb earned the save Tuesday against the Yankees, striking out three in 1.1 perfect innings.
Webb struck out Aaron Judge for the final out in the eighth inning before setting the Yankees down in order in the ninth, earning his first save this season. While the 30-year-old Webb was impressive against the heart of New York's batting order, he isn't likely to see many save chances going forward in Baltimore -- Craig Kimbrel (back) and Yennier Cano were both likely unavailable Tuesday. Webb sports a 2.03 ERA on the season with a 0.90 WHIP and 15:3 K:BB across 13.1 innings.
-
Michael Stefanic LAA 2B
Angels' Michael Stefanic: Moves to 60-day IL
8m agoThe Angels transferred Stefanic (quadriceps) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.
A quad strain has kept Stefanic on the injured list since the beginning of the season, and his move to the 60-day IL pushes his eligible return date back to May 27. He's been fielding grounders and taking batting practice and has recently resumed a running program, though it's unclear how far away he is from beginning a rehab assignment.
-
Dean Kremer BAL SP
Orioles' Dean Kremer: Wins second straight
13m agoKremer (2-2) earned the win Tuesday against the Yankees, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks over seven innings. He struck out two.
After going 0-2 with a 4.91 ERA in his first two starts this year, Kremer's now won back-to-back outings, allowing four runs over 12.1 innings in that span. The home-run ball continues to hurt Kremer -- he's allowed eight homers so far this year, tied for third-most in the league. Still, he's managed to post a respectable 4.19 ERA with a 1.08 WHIP and 31:10 K:BB over six starts (34.1 innings). Kremer's currently in line for a road matchup with the Reds on Sunday in his next start.
-
Mike Trout LAA CF
Angels' Mike Trout: Placed on injured list
17m agoThe Angels placed Trout on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a torn meniscus in his left knee.
Trout was diagnosed with a torn meniscus Tuesday and will require surgery, so a move to the IL was expected. It's worth noting the 32-year-old superstar was placed on the 10-day IL rather than the 60-day list, which may indicate the Angels expect Trout to bounce back from his procedure relatively quickly.
-
Kevin Pillar LAA CF
Angels' Kevin Pillar: Signs with Halos
36m agoPillar signed a one-year, $740,000 contract with the Angels on Tuesday.
Pillar elected to become a free agent Sunday after being DFA'd by the White Sox, and he'll now quickly find work with the Angels on a major-league deal. The 35-year-old slashed .160/.290/.360 across 32 plate appearances with the White Sox, and he'll give Los Angeles' outfield additional depth with Mike Trout (knee) in line for a long-term absence.

Tyrese Haliburton IND PG
Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton: Set to play Tuesday
1h agoHaliburton (back) is available for Tuesday's Game 5 against the Bucks.
Haliburton has been upgraded from questionable to available Tuesday despite dealing with back spasms. There is no indication that the star guard will operate on a minutes restriction.

Khris Middleton MIL SF
Bucks' Khris Middleton: Good to go Tuesday
2h agoMiddleton (ankle) is available for Tuesday's Game 5 agains the Pacers, Jeremiah Johnson of Bally Sports Indiana reports.
Middleton has been upgraded from questionable to available Tuesday despite dealing with a right ankle sprain. With Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf) and Damian Lillard (Achilles) out, Middleton will likely continue to be the focal point of Milwaukee's offense.
-
Patrick Beverley MIL PG
Bucks' Patrick Beverley: Available to play
2h agoBeverley (oblique) is available for Tuesday's Game 5 versus the Pacers, Jeremiah Johnson of Bally Sports Indiana reports.
Beverley was previously carrying a probable tag, so the Bucks will be relieved to see him power through his minor setback. Beverley will continue to see an expanded role with both Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf) and Damian Lillard (Achilles) ruled out.
-
Damian Lillard MIL PG
Bucks' Damian Lillard: Won't play Tuesday
2h agoLillard (Achilles) has been ruled out for Tuesday's Game 5 against the Pacers, Pat Boylan of Bally Sports Indiana reports.
Lillard will miss his second straight contest Tuesday after being downgraded from doubtful to out with a right Achilles strain. Malik Beasley will likely draw another start in his absence. If Milwaukee is able to win Game 5, Lillard's next chance to suit up will come in Game 6 on Thursday.
-
Giannis Antetokounmpo MIL PF
Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo: Ruled out for Game 5
2h agoAntetokounmpo (calf) will not play in Tuesday's Game 5 versus the Pacers, Jeremiah Johnson of Bally Sports Indiana reports.
No surprise here, as Antetokounmpo was initially carrying a doubtful tag. Damian Lillard (Achilles) will also be held out Tuesday, leaving the Bucks in rough shape as they try to avoid elimination.
-
Isaac Okoro CLE SF
Cavaliers' Isaac Okoro: Joins starting lineup
2h agoOkoro will join the starting lineup for Tuesday's Game 5 versus the Magic, Serena Winters of Bally Sports Cleveland reports.
Jarrett Allen is sitting out with a rib contusion, so the Cavaliers will roll with a smaller lineup. In 42 starts this season, Okoro holds averages of 10.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.4 three-pointers.
-
Juuse Saros NSH G
Predators' Juuse Saros: Starting in must-win scenario
4m agoSaros will protect the road goal versus the Canucks on Tuesday, Zach Gilchriest of the Predators' official site reports.
Saros has allowed 10 goals on 71 shots over four first-round games, but he's gone 1-3 in those contests. That leaves the Predators in a must-win scenario Tuesday, and they'll ride with Saros to try to keep their season going.
-
Arturs Silovs VAN G
Canucks' Arturs Silovs: Receives Game 5 start
5m agoSilovs will guard the home goal versus the Predators on Tuesday in Game 5, Jeff Paterson of CanucksArmy.com reports.
Silovs will get the nod after stopped 27 of 30 shots in a 4-3 overtime win over the Predators on Sunday. The 23-year-old will start over Casey DeSmith, who has recovered from a lower-body injury enough to be able to serve as the backup. A win Tuesday for the Canucks will send them to the second round.
-
Alexandar Georgiev COL G
Avalanche's Alexandar Georgiev: In goal for Game 5
34m agoGeorgiev will guard the road goal in Game 5 versus the Jets on Tuesday, Tracey Myers of NHL.com reports.
Georgiev has bounced back after losing Game 1, winning three straight contests to put the Avalanche on the brink of securing the first-round series. He's allowed just five goals on 81 shots during those three straight wins.
-
Jeremy Swayman BOS G
Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Starting Game 5
3h agoSwayman will protect the home net Tuesday in Game 5 against Toronto, per Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe.
Swayman is coming off a 24-save effort in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Maple Leafs in Game 4. He has posted a 3-0 record this postseason, stopping 87 of 91 shots during that span. The Bruins can advance to the second round of the playoffs with a victory in Tuesday's matchup.
-
Auston Matthews TOR C
Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews: Not expected to play in Game 5
3h agoMatthews (illness) is not expected to play in Game 5 versus the Bruins on Tuesday, Emily Kaplan of ESPN reports.
Matthews had limited participation in Tuesday's morning skate after making an early exit from Game 4. The Maple Leafs will be forced to face elimination Tuesday without the league's top goal-scorer in 2023-24. Look for Max Domi and John Tavares to see larger roles with Matthews out of the lineup with this lingering illness.
-
Frederik Andersen CAR G
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Guarding goal in Game 5
4h agoAndersen will patrol the home crease Tuesday in Game 5 against the Islanders, according to Andrew Gross of Newsday.
Andersen is coming off a 32-save effort in a 3-2 double-overtime loss to the Islanders on Saturday in Game 4. He has stopped 103 of 112 shots en route to a 3-1 record this postseason. The Hurricanes can advance to the second round of the playoffs with a victory in Tuesday's contest.
