Michael Gallup DAL WR
Raiders' Michael Gallup: Lands in Las Vegas
6h agoGallup agreed to terms on a one-year, $3 million contract with the Raiders on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
After a six-year stint in Dallas to start his career, Gallup will get a fresh start in Las Vegas. His second year with the Cowboys generated plenty of optimism, as he tallied 1,107 yards receiving to go along with six touchdowns. However, he has failed to replicate those types of numbers since. With Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers locked in as the Raiders' top pass catchers, Gallup will compete with the likes of Tre Tucker and DJ Turner, among others, for the No. 3 pass-catching role.

Curtis Samuel BUF WR
Bills' Curtis Samuel: Get competition via draft
6h agoSamuel has a new teammate in the receiving room after the Bills took Keon Coleman out of Florida State with the first pick of the second round Friday.
Samuel, signed as a free agent in March, was never going to be a No. 1 or even a No. 2 in Buffalo, but now we at least know who's been brought in ahead of him on the depth chart. It's a mild surprise the Bills chose only one receiver with their 10 draft picks, so for now the versatile Samuel likely sits No. 3 in the pecking order behind Khalil Shakir and Coleman. That said, this is a perfect offense for Samuel's skill set, and he'll be a weapon of some sort once things get going, just not the primary receiving option.

Shane Lemieux NYG OG
Saints' Shane Lemieux: Joining up with Saints
7h agoNew Orleans signed Lemieux (biceps) on Monday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
The Giants opted not to hold on to Lemieux after the termination of his rookie contract, but he's now found another chance with the Saints. He's set to compete for a roster spot among an offensive line that underwhelmed in 2023.
-
Matt Hembrough ARI LS
Matt Hembrough: Done with Cards
7h agoArizona waived Hembrough (back) on Monday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
In a corresponding move, Arizona signed rookie free-agent long snapper Joe Shimko. Hembrough now will have to look for his next opportunity with a new team after spending his entire rookie season on the injured reserve list.
-
Griffin Hebert PHI WR
Griffin Hebert: Gets let go
8h agoHebert was waived by the Eagles on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Hebert joined Philadelphia's practice squad late last season and turned that into a reserve/future contract with the team in January. However, the Louisiana Tech product's time with the team will come to an end for now, and he'll have the chance to pursue new opportunities.
-
Kyle Pitts ATL TE
Falcons' Kyle Pitts: Has 2025 option exercised
8h agoThe Falcons exercised Pitts' 2025 fifth-year option, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
It's a no-brainer move for the Falcons, even if Pitts, the No. 8 overall pick of the 2021 Draft, is coming off back-to-back disappointing seasons after going over 1,000 yards as a rookie. The hope in Atlanta is that the acquisition of Kirk Cousins coupled with the new coaching staff can help maximize Pitts' abilities. Pitts' figures to be a popular 2024 rebound candidate in both real life and fantasy football.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand CIN 1B
Reds' Christian Encarnacion-Strand: Sent for precautionary MRI
2m agoEncarnacion-Strand (hand) underwent a precautionary MRI on Monday, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Encarnacion-Strand has been held out of each of his club's last two games while dealing with soreness in his left hand, and the team sent him for further imaging Monday to make sure he's not dealing with anything serious. "He's feeling better, but we're just making sure," said manager David Bell. Encarnacion-Strand will continue to be considered day-to-day heading into Tuesday.

Freddy Fermin KC C
Royals' Freddy Fermin: Delivers first homer of 2024
3m agoFermin went 2-for-3 with a solo home run during Monday's 6-5 loss to the Blue Jays.
Fermin started behind the dish due to Salvador Perez getting the day off. Fermin notched his second multi-hit game of the campaign and his eighth-inning solo home run off Erik Swanson marked Fermin's 10th career long ball. In 47 plate appearances, Fermin is slashing .227/.277/.318 and is striking out at a 10.6 percent clip.
-
Justin Turner TOR DH
Blue Jays' Justin Turner: Clubs pair of homers
9m agoTurner went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and a solo home run during Monday's 6-5 win over the Royals.
Turner dominated Royals starter Jonathan Bowlan -- who was making his second-career start -- notching both home runs off him in the first and third innings. The contest doubled Turner's 2024 home run total and was his first multi-homer game since June of 2023. Through 28 games, Turner is slashing .311/.390/.533 with 15 RBI and 15 runs scored.
-
Yariel Rodriguez TOR SP
Blue Jays' Yariel Rodriguez: Inefficient against KC
14m agoRodriguez didn't factor into the decision Monday, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out one.
Rodriguez struggled to get quick outs, getting pulled after 82 pitches without completing four innings. While he's yet to go deeper than four frames this season, Rodriguez owns a 4.11 ERA and a 1.76 WHIP on the year. If Alek Manoah (shoulder) isn't ready to rejoin the rotation, Rodriguez should slot into another start Sunday at Washington.
-
Zac Gallen ARI SP
Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen: Confirmed for Wednesday's start
21m agoGallen (hamstring) will make his regularly scheduled start Wednesday against the Dodgers, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Gallen's bullpen session earlier in the day went well, and skipper Torey Lovullo confirmed late Monday evening that the right-hander will indeed take the mound Wednesday after exiting his previous outing Friday due to hamstring spasms. Gallen owns a 3.38 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with a 35:9 K:BB across 32 innings this season.
-
Jonathan Bowlan KC SP
Royals' Jonathan Bowlan: Chased after 2.2 innings
23m agoBowlan (0-1) took the loss Monday against Toronto, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks over 2.2 innings. He struck out three.
Bowlan was called up to replace Alec Marsh (elbow) in the Royals rotation, making his second career start and first MLB appearance of 2024. The 27-year-old was tagged for three home runs: a two-run homer and a solo homer to Justin Turner and a solo shot to Danny Jansen. Although Marsh will miss at least one more start, it wouldn't be surprising if the Royals look to somebody other than Bowlan to fill the fifth spot in the rotation after his awful showing Monday.
-
LeBron James LAL SF
Lakers' LeBron James: Leads LA with 30 points
14m agoJames produced 30 points (11-21 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 5-7 FT), nine rebounds, 11 assists and four steals in 44 minutes during Monday's 108-106 loss to the Nuggets in Game 5 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
James did everything in his power to extend this opening-round matchup, which included playing all but four minutes of Game 5, but it wasn't enough to get the job done. The 39-year-old forward poured in 30 points in each of the last two games and consistently packed the stat sheet throughout the series, averaging 27.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 2.4 steals and 1.0 blocks over five appearances.
-
Nikola Jokic DEN C
Nuggets' Nikola Jokic: Posts monster stat line
26m agoJokic produced 25 points (12-21 FG, 1-5 3Pt), 20 rebounds and nine assists across 41 minutes during Monday's 108-106 victory over the Lakers in Game 5 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Jokic dominated on the boards and fell just one assist shy of a triple-double in Monday's series-clinching win. He continues to show why he's one of the most valuable big men in the league, as he averaged 28.2 points, 16.2 rebounds, 9.8 assists and 1.2 steals in the opening round of the postseason (five games).
-
Jamal Murray DEN PG
Nuggets' Jamal Murray: Drills another game winner
31m agoMurray posted 32 points (13-28 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, seven assists and one steal across 41 minutes during Monday's 108-106 win over the Lakers in Game 5 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Murray's status heading into Monday's matchup was in doubt due to a calf injury, but he showed zero signs of discomfort, leading his squad in scoring and tacking on the game-winning bucket to send Denver to the next round. Monday marked his best scoring performance of the opening round after putting up 22 points in back-to-back showings heading into Game 5.
-
Naji Marshall NO SF
Pelicans' Naji Marshall: Leads bench with 16 points
38m agoMarshall recorded 16 points (5-9 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one block across 22 minutes during Monday's 97-89 loss to the Thunder in Game 4 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Marshall turned in an efficient shooting performance, scoring nine of his 16 points from beyond the arc. He had an inconsistent series at best, as he was held to five points in two of his team's four matchups on the way to being swept.
-
Anthony Davis LAL C
Lakers' Anthony Davis: Battles through shoulder injury
42m agoDavis suffered a left shoulder injury during the third quarter of Monday's Game 5 against the Nuggets but was able to return after visiting the locker room. He recorded 17 points (8-11 FG, 1-2 FT), 15 rebounds, four assists and two blocks across 40 minutes in the loss.
Davis suffered the injury early in the third quarter on a play during which he took contact to his left shoulder, and though he was able to remain in the contest immediately afterward, he was barely able to use his left arm. The 31-year-old exited the game with four minutes left in the third quarter and went to the locker room, later returning for the final period. The injury seemed to impact Davis on the offensive end of the court, forcing LeBron James and Austin Reaves to shoulder heavy workloads down the stretch. Davis dominated on the glass throughout the opening-round series, averaging 15.6 boards over five games.
-
Chet Holmgren OKC C
Thunder's Chet Holmgren: Flirts with double-double
1h agoHolmgren notched 14 points (5-12 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), nine rebounds and five assists across 35 minutes during Monday's 97-89 win over the Pelicans in Game 4 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Holmgren couldn't get his shot working from downtown, but he was able to bounce back from a sluggish six-point showing in Game 3. The Gonzaga product averaged 15.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.8 blocks during a four-game sweep of New Orleans.
-
Evgenii Dadonov DAL RW
Stars' Evgenii Dadonov: Scores from thin angle
1m agoDadonov scored a goal in Monday's 4-2 win over the Golden Knights in Game 4.
Dadonov struck late in the first period, scoring from the corner with a shot that banked in off Vegas goalie Logan Thompson. With two points through four playoff outings, Dadonov is offering some depth offense. He's clicked on a veteran line with Joe Pavelski and Tyler Seguin since the Stars had to shuffle their forwards due to injury absences for Mason Marchment (undisclosed) and Radek Faksa (undisclosed). Dadonov has added two shots on net, five hits and three blocked shots in the postseason.
-
Roope Hintz DAL LW
Stars' Roope Hintz: Fills empty cage
4m agoHintz scored an empty-net goal on two shots and added two hits in Monday's 4-2 win over the Golden Knights in Game 4.
The goal ended a six-game slump for Hintz, who continues to see top-line usage despite the lack of offense. He's added seven shots on net, 12 hits and a minus-1 rating through four playoff contests. Hintz had a down year in the regular season but still managed 30 goals, 65 points, 182 shots on net and a plus-26 rating over 80 appearances.
-
Wyatt Johnston DAL C
Stars' Wyatt Johnston: Nets power-play goal
7m agoJohnston scored a power-play goal on six shots and went minus-2 in Monday's 4-2 win over the Golden Knights in Game 4.
Johnston has three goals over the last two games to help the Stars bounce back from a 2-0 series deficit. His second-period tally Monday tied the game at 2-2. The 20-year-old has four points, 18 shots on net, four hits and a minus-1 rating through four playoff appearances. He's found instant success since a promotion to the top line, so he'll likely remain there for Wednesday's Game 5.
-
Jake Oettinger DAL G
Stars' Jake Oettinger: Evens series with Game 4 win
16m agoOettinger stopped 32 of 34 shots in Monday's 4-2 win over the Golden Knights in Game 4.
Oettinger matched his performance from Game 3, though the Stars' offense wasn't nearly as active Monday as it was Saturday. The 25-year-old has helped the Western Conference's top seed erase a 2-0 series deficit with back-to-back wins in Vegas. Oettinger has given up 10 goals on 108 shots in the first round so far. He'll almost certainly be between the pipes again for Wednesday's pivotal Game 5 in Dallas.
-
Brandon Hagel TB LW
Lightning's Brandon Hagel: Snags helper in loss
37m agoHagel recorded an assist, four hits and a minus-2 rating in Monday's 6-1 loss to the Panthers in Game 5.
Hagel posted three goals, two assists, eight shots on net and 13 hits over five playoff appearances. The winger solidified his status as a top-six winger for the Lightning in 2023-24, earning 26 goals, 75 points, 184 shots on net and 79 PIM over 82 regular-season appearances. He earned an eight-year contract extension last summer, which will begin in 2024-25, so Hagel should be a key piece for the Lightning's offense for years to come.
-
Nikita Kucherov TB RW
Lightning's Nikita Kucherov: Adds assist in loss
39m agoKucherov posted an assist and two hits in Monday's 6-1 loss to the Panthers in Game 5.
Kucherov stayed hot in the postseason with seven assists over five games, but he wasn't able to put a puck past Sergei Bobrovsky. The 30-year-old Kucherov had an excellent 2024-25 despite the early playoff exit, earning 44 goals and 100 assists in 81 regular-season appearances. He should continue to be one of the top right wings in the NHL heading into 2024-25.
