Travis Kelce KC TE
Chiefs' Travis Kelce: Inks two-year extension
20m agoKelce and the Chiefs agreed to terms Monday on a two-year extension that makes him the highest-paid tight end in the NFL, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
The exact terms of Kelce's new extension have yet to be disclosed, but coming off another Super Bowl title and heading into his age-35 season, Kelce's pay rate will top his position. The four-time All-Pro had logged seven consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards before held to a 93-984-5 receiving line in 2023, but in Kansas City's four postseason contests he operated in prime form, scoring three touchdowns while never falling below 70 receiving yards. The Chiefs have added veteran wideout Marquise Brown (heel) and rookie first-round pick Xavier Worthy this offseason, both of whom are capable of taking the top off opposing defenses, which could open things up for Kelce during the 2024 campaign. Those additions may also foreshadow a more aggressive offensive gameplan led by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Greg Rousseau BUF DE
Bills' Greg Rousseau: Has option picked up
23m agoThe Bills will exercise Rousseau's 2025 fifth-year team option, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports.
The 24-year-old was the 30th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and has 17 sacks through three seasons as a 46-game starter for Buffalo. Rousseau played a career-high 585 defensive snaps last season. The Bills need Rousseau, A.J. Epenesa and veteran Von Miller to key their pass rush in 2024 after notably only adding fifth-round rookie Javon Solomon off the edge and losing Leonard Floyd's 10.5 sacks in free agency.

Christian Barmore NE DT
Patriots' Christian Barmore: Lands big extension in New England
1h agoNew England signed Barmore to a four-year, $92 million extension on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The deal contains $41.8 million guaranteed, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports. It's the largest non-Tom Brady contract handed out in Patriots history. A second-round pick in 2021, Barmore recorded a career-best 8.5 sacks last season after totaling just four across his first two years in the league. Barmore is a foundational piece along New England's defensive front.

Jaden Shirden 2005 RB
Jaden Shirden: Lands with Carolina
1h agoThe Panthers are slated to sign Shirden as an undrafted free agent, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Shirden is on the small side at 5-foot-8 and 187 pounds but was named a first-team All-American in both of his final two seasons at Monmouth, rushing 427 times for 3,200 yards and 23 touchdowns in that span. He didn't do much in the pass game, catching just 25 career passes. Shirden is likely going to need to make an impression on special teams to stick in Carolina.

George Holani 2005 RB
George Holani: Intends to sign with Seattle
1h agoHolani is slated to sign with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
According to Garafolo, Holani will get a $15,000 signing bonus and $100,000 guaranteed to go to Seattle. The Boise State product stands 5-foot-10, 208 pounds and was a five-year contributor for the Broncos, rushing for 685-3,596-26 and adding 88-777-8 as a receiver. Holani joins a depth chart that includes Kenneth Walker, Zach Charbonnet and Kenny McIntosh.
-
Austin Jones 2005 RB
Austin Jones: Signing with Washington
1h agoJones intends to sign with the Commanders as an undrafted free agent, David Harrison of Sports Illustrated reports.
Jones started his collegiate career at Stanford, spending three years there before transferring to USC and spending his final two seasons with the Trojans. He amassed a career 498-2,337-24 rushing line, adding 105-901-3 as a receiver. Jones has plenty of game experience and will try to make a mark in Washington this summer.

Sam Haggerty SEA LF
Mariners' Sam Haggerty: Back in big leagues
13m agoThe Mariners recalled Haggerty from Triple-A Tacoma on Monday, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.
Haggerty opened the season at Tacoma after missing some time following an unspecified medical procedure, but he hit .344/.417/.375 in 17 games after returning to action. The 29-year-old will operate in a utility role, with some starts against left-handed pitching possible.
-
Jonatan Clase SEA LF
Mariners' Jonatan Clase: Optioned to Triple-A
17m agoThe Mariners optioned Clase to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.
Clase had just a .509 OPS in nine games with the big club and had seen his playing time dip recently. Rather than stall his development as a part-time player, the Mariners will send him back to Tacoma where he can play every day.

Omar Narvaez NYM C
Mets' Omar Narvaez: Playing second fiddle to Nido
20m agoNarvaez is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest versus the Cubs, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Narvaez started three of the first four games at catcher after Francisco Alvarez (thumb) got hurt and was placed on the injured list, but it's now been Tomas Nido behind the plate for four of the last five contests. The 32-year-old Narvaez is slashing just .204/.271/.284 as a Met since the beginning of last season.
-
Brett Baty NYM 3B
Mets' Brett Baty: On bench versus righty
25m agoBaty is not in the lineup for Monday's game versus the Cubs.
The Cubs have right-hander Jameson Taillon on the mound, but the Mets are rewarding the right-handed hitting Mark Vientos with a start at third base after he hit a walk-off home run in Sunday's extra-innings win over the Cardinals. Baty is just 3-for-25 at the plate over his last nine games.
-
Trey Cabbage HOU LF
Astros' Trey Cabbage: Sent back to minors
41m agoThe Astros returned Cabbage to Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Cabbage served as the Astros' 27th man for the club's two-game series in Mexico City versus the Rockies over the weekend, going 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI while starting in left field in Saturday's 12-4 win before heading to the bench for Sunday's 8-2 win. The 26-year-old should get the chance to play on an everyday basis as he heads back to Sugar Land.
-
Joey Loperfido HOU OF
Astros' Joey Loperfido: Officially added to roster
43m agoThe Astros selected Loperfido's contract from Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Loperfido earned his first promotion to the big leagues by slashing .287/.393/.713 with 13 home runs and five stolen bases in his first 25 games with Sugar Land this season. He did also have a 30.3 percent strikeout rate, and contact has often been an issue for the 24-year-old throughout the minors. However, with Jose Abreu performing so poorly at first base, the Astros appear willing to give Loperfido a look at the position even if strikeouts are abundant. Loperfido can also play the outfield, and he could be an option for at-bats there, as well, if the Astros elect to cut the playing time of Mauricio Dubon and/or Jake Meyers.

Joel Embiid PHI C
76ers' Joel Embiid: Listed questionable for Tuesday
1h agoEmbiid is questionable for Tuesday's Game 5 against the Knicks due to left knee injury recovery.
Embiid has averaged 35.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks in 40.3 minutes over the first four games of the opening-round series. However, the reigning MVP, who missed two months during the regular season after undergoing meniscus surgery, continues to be listed as questionable and has struggled in every fourth quarter thus far. With the 76ers facing elimination in New York on Tuesday, it'd be shocking if Embiid didn't suit up.

Delon Wright MIA SG
Heat's Delon Wright: Cleared to play Monday
3h agoWright (personal) is available for Monday's Game 4 against the Celtics, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
As expected, Wright, who missed Miami's Game 3 loss for the birth of his daughter, has been upgraded from probable to available. In Game 1, Wright posted 17 points, three assists and two steals in 26 minutes off the bench, but he was a non-factor in Game 2.

Jusuf Nurkic PHO C
Suns' Jusuf Nurkic: Nearly double-doubles
4h agoNurkic provided nine points (3-5 FG, 3-4 FT), eight rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals over 20 minutes during Sunday's 122-116 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 4 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Nurkic was very inconsistent in the first round against the Timberwolves, which was the case for most of the team, to be fair. Overall, Nurkic had a solid regular season campaign for Phoenix, averaging 10.9 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.1 blocks and 1.1 steals. Nurkic will remain under contract for two more seasons.
-
Bradley Beal PHO SG
Suns' Bradley Beal: Ineffective in Game 4 loss
4h agoBeal posted nine points (4-13 FG, 1-5 3Pt), one rebound, two assists and one block over 31 minutes before fouling out of Sunday's 122-116 loss to Minnesota in Game 4 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
This was Beal's worst game of the playoffs, and it resulted in the Suns getting swept by the Timberwolves in the first round. For the fifth straight campaign, Beal was unable to eclipse 60 games and struggled with injuries. He ended up making 53 appearances in his first season with the Suns, posting averages of 18.2 points, 5.0 assists, 4.4 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.9 three-pointers.
-
Kevin Durant PHO PF
Suns' Kevin Durant: Plays well in Game 4 loss
4h agoDurant supplied 33 points (12-17 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 7-9 FT), nine rebounds, five assists and four blocks over 46 minutes during Sunday's 122-116 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 4 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
With the Suns dropping Game 4, they were swept by the Timberwolves and will fall short of their hefty expectations. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Durant had "persistent issues" with the offense and felt as if he was relegated to the corner too often. It will be an interesting offseason for Phoenix, to put it mildly. Durant finished the regular season with averages of 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.2 blocks, 0.9 steals and 2.2 three-pointers.
-
Nickeil Alexander-Walker MIN SF
Timberwolves' Nickeil Alexander-Walker: Quiet in Game 4 win
4h agoAlexander-Walker finished Sunday's 122-116 victory over Phoenix in Game 4 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs with five points (2-9 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, four assists and two steals in 31 minutes.
Alexander-Walker wasn't able to get much going offensively, but coach Chris Finch still trusted him with a significant workload. That's been the case for the entire series, as Alexander-Walker averaged 12.3 points, 4.0 assists, 2.8 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 2.3 three-pointers in 31.0 minutes per game as the Timberwolves completed their sweep of the Suns.

Joel Kiviranta COL LW
Avalanche's Joel Kiviranta: Traveling with team
1h agoKiviranta (lower body) will make the trip to Winnipeg ahead of Tuesday's Game 5 versus the Jets, Aarif Deen of Mile High Sports reports.
Kiviranta missed Sunday's Game 4 win over the Jets due to a lower-body issue, but it appears he could be available for Game 5. The 28-year-old winger has picked up one helper and a plus-2 rating through three playoff games this year.
-
Logan Thompson LV G
Golden Knights' Logan Thompson: First off ahead of Game 4
1h agoThompson was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, per Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, indicating he will patrol the home crease Monday in Game 4 against Dallas.
Thompson is coming off a 43-save performance in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Stars in Game 3. He has stopped 89 of 96 shots in Vegas' first-round series en route to a 2-1 record.
-
Vladislav Namestnikov WPG C
Jets' Vladislav Namestnikov: Dealing with fractured cheekbone
2h agoNamestnikov (face) has a fractured cheekbone, but he hasn't been ruled out of Tuesday's must-win Game 5 versus the Avalanche, Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site reports.
It sounds like Namestnikov may put on a full cage and try to gut it out Tuesday, but his status for Game 5 may not be confirmed until the Jets take the ice for pregame warmups. He's picked up one goal, eight hits and a minus-3 rating through the first four games of the Jets' first-round series versus Colorado.
-
Brenden Dillon WPG D
Jets' Brenden Dillon: Ruled out for Game 5
2h agoDillon (hand) will not be available against Colorado for Game 5 on Tuesday, John Lu of TSN reports.
Dillon is stuck in a 12-game goal drought during which he has recorded four assists, 10 shots on goal and 45 hits while averaging 19:49 of ice time per contest. With Dillon sidelined, Logan Stanley stepped into the lineup for Game 4 and figures to remain in that role heading into Tuesday's contest.
-
Morgan Barron WPG C
Jets' Morgan Barron: Still not skating
2h agoBarron (lower body) won't be available for Game 5 versus Colorado on Tuesday, Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press reports.
Barron, who hasn't resumed skating yet, will miss his sixth straight contest after getting hurt in the penultimate game of the regular season. He registered 11 goals, 18 points, 94 shots on net and 122 hits in 80 appearances during the 2023-24 campaign.
-
Auston Matthews TOR C
Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews: Traveling with team
2h agoMatthews (illness) will join the Maple Leafs when they travel to Boston for Game 5 on Tuesday but remains questionable after head coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters, "We're hopeful he's available and feeling good and back to himself," per ESPN's Kristen Shilton.
Matthews has scored just one goal in his last six contests despite having racked up 34 shots on net and adding two assists over that stretch. Without the world-class center at practice Tuesday, Toronto shifted Max Domi to center in addition to slotting him into Matthews' spot on the No. 1 power-play unit. If Matthews can get even close to 100 percent, he should reclaim both those roles heading into Tuesday's must-win game for Toronto.
