Kyle Pitts ATL TE
Falcons' Kyle Pitts: 2025 option exercised
7m agoThe Falcons exercised Pitts' 2025 fifth-year option, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
It's a no-brainer move for the Falcons, even if Pitts, the No. 8 overall pick of the 2021 Draft, is coming off back-to-back disappointing seasons after going over 1,000 yards as a rookie. The hope in Atlanta is that the acquisition of Kirk Cousins coupled with the new coaching staff can help maximize Pitts' abilities. He figures to be a popular 2024 rebound candidate in both real-life and fantasy football.

Chase Brown CIN RB
Bengals' Chase Brown: Looks set for No. 2 role
40m agoBrown appears primed to work as the top backup to Zack Moss following the 2024 NFL Draft, Paul Dehner of The Athletic reports.
The Bengals didn't select a single running back across 10 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft, so even if the team brings in a handful of talented UDFAs, Brown looks like a notable winner for fantasy purposes. He flashed across 12 appearances as a rookie last season, and while Moss' experience with a large workload and on third downs makes him a clear favorite for the No. 1 role, Brown's short-area burst could make him an effective complementary option. If Brown can put together a solid offseason and push for increased touches, he could be an interesting late-round fantasy sleeper in 2024 drafts.

Zack Moss CIN RB
Bengals' Zack Moss: Looks secure as lead back
1h agoMoss retains his position atop the Bengals' backfield depth chart following the 2024 NFL Draft, Paul Dehner of The Athletic reports.
Moss inked with Cincinnati as a free agent back in March, and though the team will certainly add some UDFAs to the mix, he has to be considered a huge winner for fantasy after the Bengals opted not to spend a single draft pick on the running back position. Coming off a breakout season with the Colts, Moss looks primed for a high-volume role considering his experience between the tackles and on third downs, while Chase Brown could act as a more explosive complement out of the backfield. Both could be intriguing fantasy sleepers in 2024 drafts.

Miles Sanders CAR RB
Panthers' Miles Sanders: Joined by rookie second-rounder
1h agoSanders faces competition from rookie second-round pick Jonathon Brooks (knee) for backfield work during the 2024 season, Joseph Person of The Athletic reports.
Sanders was overtaken by Chuba Hubbard down the stretch of the 2023 season, in which he logged a career-low 129 carries for 432 yards (3.3 YPC) and one touchdown, so the arrival of Brooks could impact his opportunities. First-year coach Dave Canales said the Panthers plan to deploy all three backs, and Brooks is working his way back from an ACL tear, so Sanders' primary competition for touches could be Hubbard to begin the year. It's easy to imagine a scenario, though, where Brooks earns himself a more solidified role atop the depth chart once he's fully healthy.

Conor McDermott NE OT
Conor McDermott: Cut by Pats
1h agoNew England released McDermott on Monday.
McDermott started five games at left tackle for the Patriots in 2023, but after adding Chukwuma Okorafor in free agency, New England has opted to let go of McDermott. He'll now have to look for another opportunity with a new team.

Aidan O'Connell LV QB
Raiders' Aidan O'Connell: Remains set for QB battle
1h agoO'Connell remains in position to compete with Gardner Minshew for the starting job this offseason, after the Raiders refrained from selecting a rookie quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft, Mark Anderson of the Associated Press reports.
Las Vegas was an oft-theorized candidate to add a QB in April's draft, but six signal-callers ultimately went off the board before the team's first-round selection at No. 13 overall, which became playmaking tight end Brock Bowers. The team invested second- and third-round selections in offensive linemen Jackson Powers-Johnson and Delmar Glaze, putting whoever wins the 2024 starting gig in a better position for success. O'Connell completed 213 of 343 pass attempts for 2,218 yards, 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions across 10 starts last season, which is solid rookie numbers for a fourth-round pick, but Minshew boasts enough experience that this offseason should play out as a true competition.

Anthony Volpe NYY SS
Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Snaps slump Sunday
3m agoVolpe went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, an additional run scored, a stolen base and two walks in Sunday's 15-5 rout over Milwaukee.
After a scorching start to the season, Volpe had fallen back a bit in the second half of April, as he came into Sunday batting .157 with no homers and a 30.9 percent strikeout rate over 12 games since April 15. He turned things around -- at least temporarily -- by reaching four times against Milwaukee on Sunday, with his fifth-inning three-run homer opening the floodgates for a Yankees offensive outburst late in the contest. Despite his recent slump, Volpe still has strong overall numbers on the campaign -- he's slashing .282/.368/.418 with three home runs, 13 RBI, 20 runs and seven stolen bases through 126 plate appearances.

Aaron Hicks LAA RF
Angels' Aaron Hicks: DFA'd by Angels
4m agoThe Angels designated Hicks for assignment Monday.
Hicks has had a rough start to the season, slashing .140/.222/.193 with one home run and five RBI. Over his last seven appearances, Hicks has gone 1-for-19 with two runs, one RBI, two walks and eight strikeouts. In a corresponding move, the Angels selected the contract of infielder Cole Tucker.

Davis Daniel LAA RP
Angels' Davis Daniel: Brought back to big club
9m agoThe Angels recalled Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.
Daniel was optioned to Triple-A during spring training. He's started in five games with Salt Lake, going 0-3 while recording a 6.08 ERA, 1.81 WHIP and 26:8 K:BB over 23.2 innings. To make room for Daniel, the Angels optioned right-hander Zac Kristofak to Triple-A Salt Lake following Sunday's loss to the Twins.
-
Salvador Perez KC C
Royals' Salvador Perez: Scratched with back tightness
9m agoPerez was scratched from Monday's lineup versus the Blue Jays due to back tightness, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Perez had been slated to catch and bat cleanup, but now Freddy Fermin will be behind the plate and Nelson Velazquez will move up to the cleanup spot. Consider Perez day-to-day.

Matt Manning DET SP
Tigers' Matt Manning: Could serve as 27th man Tuesday
20m agoManning is a candidate to serve as the 27th man and start one of the games of the Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Manning is on turn at Triple-A Toledo, so he's an obvious option to start that day for the big club instead. It would be his third start in the majors this season after he allowed four runs with a 10:6 K:BB in 12.1 innings covering his first two outings. If Manning does indeed start Tuesday, Jack Flaherty will likely have his start pushed back to Wednesday.
-
Tobias Myers MIL RP
Brewers' Tobias Myers: Staying in rotation
39m agoBrewers manager Pat Murphy said Monday that Myers will remain in the rotation, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Myers has held his own in two starts for the Brewers, allowing three runs with a 9:1 K:BB over 10 innings. With DL Hall (knee) and Jakob Junis (shoulder) still out and Wade Miley (elbow) done for the season the club didn't have much of a choice in giving Myers at least one more turn. He's tentatively lined up to start in Chicago against the Cubs this weekend.
-
Jericho Sims NY C
Knicks' Jericho Sims: Likely to play in Game 5
4m agoSims is probable for Tuesday's Game 5 against the 76ers due to right shoulder inflammation.
Sims hasn't appeared in the first four games of the Knicks' first-round series, but he's dealing with a shoulder issue ahead of Game 5. While he'll likely be able to suit up, he's unlikely to see much playing time.
-
Craig Porter Jr. CLE PG
Cavaliers' Craig Porter: Still out
4m agoPorter (ankle) has been ruled out for Tuesday's Game 5 against the Magic.
Porter has yet to suit up during the postseason due to a left ankle sprain. Even when he's healthy, the undrafted rookie isn't guaranteed minutes.
-
Mitchell Robinson NY C
Knicks' Mitchell Robinson: Iffy for Game 5
7m agoRobinson (ankle) is questionable for Tuesday's Game 5 against the 76ers.
Robinson sprained his surgically repaired left ankle during New York's Game 3 loss last Thursday and was sidelined for Sunday's win. If Robinson is ruled out again, Precious Achiuwa would likely see increased minutes, but coach Tom Thibodeau also deployed OG Anunoby as the small-ball center to guard Joel Embiid for long stretches in Game 4.
-
Jalen Brunson NY PG
Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Probable for Game 5
7m agoBrunson is probable for Tuesday's Game 5 against the 76ers due to a right knee contusion.
Brunson briefly exited Sunday's Game 4 win over the 76ers, and it seems unlikely that the issue will force him to miss Game 5. Over the first four matchups of the series, he's averaged 33.0 points, 9.0 assists and 5.3 rebounds in 42.0 minutes per game.
-
Bojan Bogdanovic NY SF
Knicks' Bojan Bogdanovic: Out for Game 5
13m agoBogdanovic (foot) has been ruled out for Tuesday's Game 5 against the 76ers, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
Bogdanovic has been playing through ligament damage in his left wrist during the opening-round series, but he suffered a left foot contusion in his first stint on the court during New York's Game 4 win and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest. In Bogdanovic's absence, Miles McBride and Precious Achiuwa are candidates for a few extra minutes.
-
Joel Embiid PHI C
76ers' Joel Embiid: Listed questionable for Tuesday
4h agoEmbiid is questionable for Tuesday's Game 5 against the Knicks due to left knee injury recovery.
Embiid has averaged 35.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks in 40.3 minutes over the first four games of the opening-round series. However, the reigning MVP, who missed two months during the regular season after undergoing meniscus surgery, continues to be listed as questionable and has struggled in every fourth quarter thus far. With the 76ers facing elimination in New York on Tuesday, it'd be shocking if Embiid didn't suit up.

Dylan McIlrath WAS D
Capitals' Dylan McIlrath: Heads back to minors
11m agoMcIlrath was returned to AHL Hershey on Monday.
McIlrath suited up in all four games of Washington's first-round series defeat against the Rangers, posting four blocked shots, seven hits and 10 PIM. He will get to play for the Bears in the AHL playoffs after contributing nine points and 100 PIM in 58 minor-league appearances during the 2023-24 regular season.
-
Lucas Johansen WAS D
Capitals' Lucas Johansen: Back in AHL
18m agoJohansen was assigned to AHL Hershey on Monday.
Johansen will get an opportunity to play for the Bears in the AHL postseason after suiting up in two playoff contests during Washington's first-round exit versus the Rangers. The 26-year-old blueliner had two goals and 12 points in 22 AHL outings during the 2023-24 regular season.
-
Vincent Iorio WAS D
Capitals' Vincent Iorio: Dropped to AHL
24m agoIorio (upper body) was loaned to AHL Hershey on Monday.
Iorio sat out three straight contests to conclude Washington's first-round series loss to the Rangers. Assuming he's healthy, which his demotion suggests, he should get a chance to play for the Bears in the AHL playoffs. The 21-year-old defender had four goals and 14 points in 60 minor-league appearances during the 2023-24 regular season.
-
Ivan Miroshnichenko WAS LW
Capitals' Ivan Miroshnichenko: Sent down to minors
29m agoMiroshnichenko was reassigned to AHL Hershey on Monday.
Miroshnichenko will get to play for the Bears in the AHL playoffs following Washington's first-round elimination at the hands of the Rangers on Sunday. The 20-year-old forward had nine goals and 25 points in 47 minor-league outings during the 2023-24 regular season.
-
Hendrix Lapierre WAS C
Capitals' Hendrix Lapierre: Returned to minors
36m agoLapierre was reassigned to AHL Hershey on Monday.
Lapierre scored just once in his last 19 outings while chipping in eight helpers and 20 shots on goal. The 22-year-old center played in 51 regular-season contests for the Capitals this year and should be a full-time NHL option heading into the 2024-25 campaign. With a full 82-game season, Lapierre is certainly capable of pushing for both the 20-goal and 40-point thresholds.

Joel Kiviranta COL LW
Avalanche's Joel Kiviranta: Traveling with team
4h agoKiviranta (lower body) will make the trip to Winnipeg ahead of Tuesday's Game 5 versus the Jets, Aarif Deen of Mile High Sports reports.
Kiviranta missed Sunday's Game 4 win over the Jets due to a lower-body issue, but it appears he could be available for Game 5. The 28-year-old winger has picked up one helper and a plus-2 rating through three playoff games this year.
