3h agoSeattle signed Torrence to a contract Friday, Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports.
Torrence wasn't selected in the NFL Draft in late April but will get a shot to make his case for a roster or practice-squad spot after signing with the Seahawks. The 6-foot-3 defensive back played the final two seasons of college with Arizona State and totaled 37 tackles (including 2.0 sacks) along with an interception in 2023. Torrence allowed just 20 receptions in coverage last season, the lowest total among Pac-12 cornerbacks with at least 300 snaps played in coverage during the regular season.

4h agoOladapo (toe) has undergone surgery and is not expected to be ready for OTAs, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Although he will miss OTAs, the team remains optimistic that Clark will be ready for training camp. He suffered a stress fracture doing drills on the turf at the NFL combine. The rookie was the third safety selected by the Packers in the 2024 NFL Draft, following Xavier McKinney and Anthony Johnson. The Oregon State product will need to get his health back to bar in order to make an impression during training camp.

4h agoThe Eagles placed Clark on injured reserve Friday.
It is unclear what Clark's injury is or how he sustained it, but he is a rare offseason addition to IR. This will allow the Eagles' some roster flexibility going forward. The journeyman failed to make a roster or practice squad during the 2023 season, but will look to bounce back once his health is back up to par.

4h agoThe Jets signed Harrell on Friday, Ethan Greenberg and John Pullano of the team's official site report.
Harrell totaled four receptions for 45 yards as a sixth-year senior at Miami in 2023. The Jets are thin at wide receiver going into 2024, so he could be in the competition for the last few spots on their final depth chart.

Miller initially signed with the Chiefs back in January, but after using both free agency and the draft to add depth at wide receiver, Kansas City has now chosen to part ways with him. He hasn't appeared in a regular-season game since 2021.

Irvin continued his dominant run Friday -- he's now won three consecutive starts while extending his scoreless-inning streak to 20.2. The 30-year-old left-hander's ERA is down to 2.86 with a 1.07 WHIP and 22:7 K:BB across six starts (34.2 innings) this season. Irvin will look to keep rolling in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week against Arizona.

Getting the start in center field against lefty Jose Quintana and batting eighth in his 2024 debut, DeLuca made a big impact in his return from a hand injury. The 25-year-old figures to handle a short-side platoon role in a Tampa Bay outfield that remains in flux due to Josh Lowe's hamstring strain, and poor starts at the plate for Jose Siri (thigh/suspension) and Randy Arozarena.

15m agoHouck (3-3) allowed four runs on six hits and two walks over six-plus innings Friday, striking out five and taking a loss against Minnesota.
Houck gave up just one run through six frames before stumbling in the seventh. He allowed three straight runners to reach base without recording an out and was eventually charged with all three runs. He matched his season high with four runs allowed; in his other five starts this year, Houck has given up just three total runs through 33.2 innings. On top of that, he tied his season low by generating only six swinging strikes. Houck will carry a 2.18 ERA into his next outing, which is lined up to be at home against the Nationals next week.

19m agoArozarena went 1-for-2 with three walks, a solo home run and a second run scored in Friday's 10-8 win over the Mets.
The 29-year-old outfielder has had a brutal start to 2024 that includes what would be a career-high 29.1 percent strikeout rate and a career-low .455 OPS, but Arozarena came through with a solid performance in a wild win. His fourth-inning long ball off Dedniel Nunez was his fourth homer in 32 games to go along with four steals, and Arozarena has contributed a respectable 14 runs and 15 RBI despite his woeful .145/.242/.265 slash line.

25m agoAdam gave up a run on two hits and struck out one in the ninth inning Friday to record his second save of the season in a 10-8 win over the Mets.
The right-hander has collected saves in back-to-back appearances, but he's looked a bit shaky both times. Adam served up a solo shot to Brett Baty on Friday before giving up a two-out double to Brandon Nimmo that brought the tying run to the plate. Adam's 1.80 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 13:4 K:BB through 15 innings on the season remain impressive, but with Pete Fairbanks (forearm) set to begin a rehab assignment next week, he should return to setup duties before long.

25m agoDuran struck out two batters in a perfect inning to earn a save over the Red Sox on Friday.
Duran needed just 11 pitches to quickly retire the middle third of Boston's lineup in order. He's struck out three batters while grabbing a pair of saves in two appearances since returning from the injured lust. The 26-year-old posted terrific numbers last season -- 2.45 ERA and 12.1 K/9 through 62.1 innings -- and should see plenty of save chances throughout the year.

Wagner went a perfect 11-of-11 from the line, helping the Magic to an impressive Game 6 victory. It was another impressive performance by Wagner, who continues to develop into a key piece for Orlando. Game 7 will take place Sunday, with both teams vying for a second-round berth against the high-flying Celtics.

Anthony closed the game Friday, providing the Magic with some much-needed floor spacing. With Gary Harris (hamstring), Anthony slid into a larger role, something that could stick for Game 7 should Harris remain sidelined.

Ingles played just eight minutes in the win, serving more as a cheerleader than an actual player. Now in the twilight of his career, Ingles provides the team with a much-needed veteran presence. Win or lose, the Magic have managed to turn some heads this season and the future is certainly bright in Orlando.

Morris played 27 minutes as the starting power forward in the Game 6 loss. Any time he spends on the floor feels like too much, highlighted by his lack of production. The Cavaliers will be hoping Jarrett Allen can overcome his rib injury and get back on the floor for what is a must-win game Sunday.

Thompson played as the primary backup behind Evan Mobley, something that Cleveland fans are hoping will not happen again. Other than providing additional size, Thompson has no place on an NBA court anymore. Jarrett Allen (ribs) will almost certainly be doing everything possible to make it back for Game 7.

39m agoMitchell finished Friday's 103-96 loss to the Magic in Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs with 50 points (22-36 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 3-6 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one block in 42 minutes.
Mitchell outscored the rest of the Cavaliers roster, dropping 50 points in the loss. He scored all of the Cleveland points in the final quarter, a fact that may or may not have contributed to the end result. He is going to need more help on the offensive end should they hope to advance to the second round where the Celtics await.

2h agoOettinger will get the starting nod for Game 6 in Vegas on Friday, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.
Oettinger has been dominant over the last three games, leading the Stars from a 2-0 deficit to a 3-2 lead. Over that span, he's coughed up just six goals on 95 shots. Through five appearances this series, Oetinger has posted a .911 save percentage and a 2.31 GAA.

Schenn will return after missing Game 5 on Tuesday. The veteran blueliner has averaged 15:03 of ice time with 12 hits through four games this series. He'll skate in a second-pairing role Friday.

8h agoDiPietro was reassigned to AHL Providence on Friday, per Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal.
DiPietro was summoned Tuesday so the Bruins would have a third goaltender on their playoff roster. He might be recalled ahead of Game 7 on Saturday against Toronto to continue to serve that function. DiPietro hasn't played for Boston in the regular season or playoffs in 2023-24, but he did record a 2.51 GAA and a .918 save percentage in 30 regular-season outings with Providence.

Kaiden Guhle MON DCanadiens' Kaiden Guhle: Good to play for Team Canada
8h agoGuhle, who missed the final seven games of the regular season due to a head injury, will join Team Canada for the upcoming IIHF World Championship.
Guhle finished the 2023-24 season with six goals, 22 points, 56 PIM, 116 hits and 178 blocks in 70 contests with Montreal. He served in a top-four capacity with the Canadiens, and the 22-year-old should act in a similar capacity for the franchise next campaign. In the meantime, Guhle will get in some extra high-level action during the international tournament before beginning his summer training.
