1h agoMiller agreed to terms Wednesday on a one-year contract with the Steelers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Miller reunites with offensive coordinator Arthur Smith in Pittsburgh, after he logged a 11-161-2 receiving line across 17 appearances in 2023 in Atlanta, where Smith had served as the head coach. The wideout now gets a chance to compete with names like Quez Watkins, Denzel Mims, Marquez Callaway and Dez Fitzpatrick for a depth role with the Steelers this offseason.

2h agoSpector (back) is competing with Dorian Williams for Buffalo's top backup role at linebacker, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
Spector appears to be recovered from the back injury that ended his 2023 season early, and he remains secure as a key special-teams contributor. Because of his draft capital as a 2023 third-round pick, Williams will likely be the favorite to win the top backup role this offseason, but Spector could have a solid chance to earn more opportunities if he can impress.

Armour-Davis, a 2022 fourth-round pick, suited up for just four games as a rookie then eight games in 2023, when he ended year on IR with a concussion. He could have his work cut out to earn a roster spot, especially given that he mostly contributed on special teams in 2023.

Martavis Bryant DAL WRMartavis Bryant: Let go by Dallas
2h agoThe Cowboys informed Bryant on Wednesday that he will be released, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Bryant, who last suited up for an NFL game in 2018 with the Raiders, signed a reserve/future contract with Dallas earlier this offseason but will now have to search for an opportunity to reignite his career elsewhere. His release does not result in any dead money against the salary cap for the Cowboys, per Gehlken.

3h agoThe Broncos are slated to release DiNucci, Parker Gabriel of the Denver Post reports.
DiNucci, who spent the 2023 season on the Broncos' practice squad, was elevated to the team's game-day roster three times, but didn't log any regular-season snaps. With the 2020 third-rounder no longer in the mix, Bo Nix, Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson currently head Denver's QB corps.

Justin Shorter BUF WRBills' Justin Shorter: Candidate for depth WR role
4h agoShorter, whose rookie season was derailed by a hamstring injury, is in line to compete for depth slotting behind fellow wide receivers Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman and Curtis Samuel, the Buffalo News reports.
The Bills took Shorter in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, but he never saw game action after being placed on IR ahead of the regular season. Though Shorter was designated to return from IR in December and was subsequently able to practice with the team, he wasn't activated when his 21-day window closed. Now presumably past his hamstring issue, the 6-4, 223-pounder is slated to vie with Chase Claypool, Mack Hollins, KJ Hamler, Andy Isabella and Quintez Cephus for a reserve WR/special teams role in his second campaign with Buffalo.

14m agoThe Rays reinstated Bradley (pectoral) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.
Bradley is slated to make his season debut Friday against the Yankees at Tropicana Field, but the Rays opted to activate the right-hander two days early after rotation mate Ryan Pepiot (lower leg) was placed on the 15-day IL in a corresponding move. The 23-year-old showed no sign of being affected by the pectoral strain he suffered in spring training over the course of his two rehab starts with Triple-A Durham, as he struck out 15 while allowing one earned run on two hits and three walks across 11 innings. Bradley built up to 94 pitches in his second outing with Durham last Friday and shouldn't face any workload restrictions in his first start with Tampa Bay.

15m agoRodriguez (shoulder) threw 15 pitches off the mound Wednesday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.
It's the first time Rodriguez has thrown off a mound since he landed on the 15-day injured list a week ago with right shoulder inflammation. The hope is that the right-hander will be ready to go when his 15 days are up, but he still has some hurdles to clear in order to make that a reality.

Ryan Pepiot TB SPRays' Ryan Pepiot: Placed on IL
18m agoThe Rays placed Pepiot on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a left lower leg contusion.
The transaction is retroactive to Monday, so Pepiot could be activated as soon as May 21 if he makes a speedy recovery from the leg injury, which he suffered when he was hit by a line drive in Sunday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Mets. Taj Bradley (pectoral) was reinstated from the 15-day IL in a corresponding move and will be plugged into Pepiot's spot in the rotation beginning with Friday's game against the Yankees.

Lopez recently overcame a sore adductor and started at second base in the first two contests of the series in Tampa, going 2-for-7 at the plate. The White Sox haven't indicated that Lopez suffered a setback with the injury, so his absence Wednesday is presumably maintenance-related.

2h agoCoach Jason Kidd said Doncic (knee) practiced Wednesday and is probable for Thursday's Game 2 against the Thunder, Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Doncic continues to play through a right knee sprain but was far from his best in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals, as he finished with 19 points (6-19 FG) and five turnovers. The MVP candidate is shooting just 39.5 percent during the postseason but remains productive and is averaging 28.3 points, 9.4 assists, 8.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 42.3 minutes per game.

White embraced a bigger role on offense on a night when Jayson Tatum struggled (7-19 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), and the former responded by delivering his third consecutive game with 25 or more points. White has taken a step forward due to Kristaps Porzingis (calf) being sidelined, and it'd be fair to consider him Boston's third-best offensive weapon under the current lineup construction. White will aim to keep the streak alive in Game 2 on Thursday, as the Celtics have gone 20-3 this season when he's scored 20 or more points between the regular season and the playoffs.

Jayson Tatum had a rough shooting performance in the series opener, but Brown was there to pick him up, and the latter led the Celtics in scoring with an impressive, efficient display on the offensive end of the court. Brown has scored 20 or more points in four of his last five playoff appearances, and he'll aim to keep that streak alive in Game 2 on Thursday.

7h agoTatum totaled 18 points (7-19 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 11 rebounds, five assists and three blocks over 35 minutes during Tuesday's 120-95 victory over the Cavaliers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
The Celtics cruised to a 25-point win in the series opener, but Tatum's shooting struggles can't be overlooked, as he had a rough outing and struggled to get things going offensively. The fact that he still came close to reaching the 20-point mark while also posting a double-double goes to show just how immensely talented he is, as he can post above-average numbers even when he has a down night by his standards. Tatum will aim to deliver a bounce-back performance in Game 2 on Thursday.

7h agoGarland had 14 points (6-15 FG, 2-8 3Pt), three rebounds, five assists and one steal over 36 minutes during Tuesday's 120-95 loss to the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Garland is in line for a rough matchup in this series, as he'll have to deal with two excellent defenders in Jrue Holiday and Derrick White, so his Game 1 display is not entirely surprising. He didn't have his best performances in the first-round series against the Magic either, and he's averaging just 14.8 points and 5.4 assists per game through eight playoff appearances. In fact, Garland has failed to surpass the 15-point mark in six of his eight playoff outings, a clear downgrade after averaging 18.0 points per contest during the regular season.

7h agoMitchell produced 33 points (12-25 FG, 4-11 3Pt, 5-5 FT), six rebounds, five assists and one steal across 37 minutes during Tuesday's 120-95 loss to the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Mitchell carried the momentum he had from his epic Game 7 performance against the Magic on Sunday and surpassed the 30-point mark once again. However, the rest of his teammates didn't step up, and the Cavaliers suffered a devastating 25-point loss in the series opener. Mitchell should continue to post excellent numbers as the Cavaliers' go-to player on offense -- by a wide margin -- but there's a chance his mighty performances might not translate into wins as it happened against the Magic in the previous round.

Pettersson should slot into his usual spots on the second line and first power-play unit Wednesday. The 25-year-old pivot was a bit pedestrian in the first round against the Predators, picking up just three helpers through six games after racking up 34 goals and 89 points through 82 regular-season contests.

Arturs Silovs VAN GCanucks' Arturs Silovs: Making fourth straight start
3h agoSilovs was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate, per Kevin Woodley of NHL.com, putting him on track to guard the home crease versus Edmonton in Game 1 on Wednesday.
Silovs was excellent after being thrust into action in the first round versus Nashville due to injuries to Thatcher Demko (knee) and Casey DeSmith, who is now healthy but was dealing with a lower-body injury. Silovs went 2-1-0 while posting an impressive 1.70 GAA and .938 save percentage through three appearances against the Predators. The Connor McDavid-led Oilers offense racked up 22 goals through five games in the first round versus Winnipeg, so Silovs will likely be tested early and often Wednesday.

Oskar Lindblom SJ LWOskar Lindblom: Signs with Swedish club
3h agoLindblom signed a contract with Brynas IF of the SHL on Wednesday, Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Lindblom appeared in just one game for the Sharks in 2023-24, so it's not surprising to see him head to his native Sweden to continue his professional playing career. At this point it'd be surpsing to see Lindblom return to the NHL in the future.

5h agoSwayman was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate, per Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald, putting him on track to guard the road goal in Wednesday's Game 2 versus Florida.
Swayman was exceptional in Monday's Game 1, turning aside 38 of 39 shots en route to a convincing 5-1 win. As long as the 25-year-old netminder continues to play at this level, it seems unlikely coach Jim Montgomery will go back to the rotation between Swayman and Linus Ullmark he utilized to open the Bruins' first-round series versus Toronto.

5h agoBobrovsky will patrol the home crease during Wednesday's Game 2 versus Boston, Colby Guy of Florida Hockey Now reports.
Bobrovsky struggled in Monday's Game 1 against the Bruins, surrendering four goals on only 28 shots en route to a 5-1 defeat. The 35-year-old netminder will attempt to bounce back and help the Panthers even up the series at one game apiece before heading to Beantown for Game 3 on Friday.

Blues' Hugh McGing: Signs two-year extension
5h agoMcGing signed a two-year, two-way contract extension with the Blues on Wednesday.
McGing spent most of the 2023-24 campaign with AHL Springfield, picking up eight goals and 39 points through 51 contests, but he also drew into five games with St. Louis, going scoreless over that span. He'll likely continue to fill a similar role for the organization over the next two seasons.
