Cephus landed with Buffalo back in April after having missed the entire 2023 season for violating the league's gambling policy. Now, the 2020 fifth-round pick will have to search for a chance to reignite his career with another club. He suited up for 22 regular-season games with the Lions from 2020-22.

14h agoJefferson (undisclosed) was on the field last week for the start of Detroit's offseason program.
Jefferson finished the 2023 campaign on Lions' practice squad injured list after sustaining an undisclosed injury in late January. The nature of the 24-year-old's issue was never revealed, though he appears to have moved past the injury over the past few months. Jefferson hasn't seen any regular-season NFL action since 2021, as he's spent both of the past two campaigns on Detroit's practice squad.

James Mitchell DET TELions' James Mitchell: Participates in offseason program
14h agoMitchell (hand) was seen catching passes last week during the beginning of Detroit's offseason program.
Mitchell played 15 games during the 2023 regular season while primarily slotting in as a blocking tight end and contributor on special teams, as he caught just two passes. The 24-year-old then missed the Lions' postseason run with a hand injury. Mitchell's return to action during the offseason program likely means he's moved past the injury or the time being, so he'll likely slot back in behind Sam LaPorta and Brock Wright on the depth chart at tight end to begin the 2024 season.

20h agoMcLeod (biceps) said Tuesday he plans to retire after the 2024 season, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
McLeod is presumably healthy after a biceps injury limited him to 10 appearances (five starts) in 2023. He signed a one-year deal back in March to return to Cleveland for a second season. The soon-to-be 34-year-old will likely serve as a depth option in the secondary while also handling a role on special teams.

Michael Wilson ARI WRCardinals' Michael Wilson: Outlook muddied after recent arrivals
2d agoWilson has more competition for targets from quarterback Kyler Murray after the team selected Marvin Harrison fourth overall in this year's draft and then signed seven-year pro Zay Jones last week, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Wilson spent much of the offseason No. 2, at best, in the pecking order in the Cardinals passing game behind tight end Trey McBride, but the recent additions leave Wilson's potential volume in the upcoming campaign up in the air. As a rookie third-round pick last year, Wilson put together a 38-565-3 line on 58 targets in 13 contests, but he produced just 13 catches (on 25 targets) for 164 yards and one touchdown in five outings with Murray under center. The arrival of the dynamic Harrison likely leaves Wilson fending for looks with Jones, who has three years with at least 500 receiving yards on his resume.

2d agoElliss (shoulder) should be fully recovered from shoulder surgery by training camp, Mike Klis of 9News reports.
Elliss underwent surgery to repair a torn shoulder labrum six months ago, but he still isn't quite 100 percent. However, the Broncos' 2024 third-round selection was able to take part in walkthroughs and individual portions of the team's recent rookie minicamp. The son of former NFL player Luther Elliss, Jonah projects to be a pass-rush specialist after recording 12 sacks in just 10 games at Utah last season.

Lucas was pushed off the Athletics' 40-man roster after Oakland acquired right-hander Brandon Bielak via trade from Houston on Thursday. The lefty reliever was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas earlier this week but had made three appearances for the big club this season, giving up six earned runs on eight hits and three walks over 3.2 innings.

7m agoLeMahieu (foot) is in line to begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset on Friday, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.
LeMahieu has already joined Somerset, but he will first go through a full workout Thursday and, assuming that goes off without a hitch, will begin playing in games Friday. The veteran infielder had to have his initial rehab assignment last month halted after just one inning due to ongoing issues with his right foot, but he's now ready to try things again. Since he's missed so much time, the expectation is that LeMahieu will probably need a handful of rehab games before rejoining the Yankees' active roster.

19m agoRaley went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a stolen base in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.
Raley delivered a timely single in the eighth inning that plated pinch runner Leonardo Rivas, extending the Mariners' lead back to two runs after Bobby Witt had brought the Royals within one in the top half of the frame. Raley's multi-hit effort was an extension of a torrid stretch at the plate for the offseason addition, one that's seen him generate a .435 average and 1.219 OPS over the last seven games.

Dominic Canzone SEA LFMariners' Dominic Canzone: Doubles in IL return
25m agoCanzone (shoulder) went 1-for-3 with a double and a run in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.
Activated from the injured list earlier in the day, Canzone helped give the Mariners some key breathing room by doubling in the seventh and then coming home with Seattle's third run. Canzone was seeing his first big-league game action in just over a month, having last played April 14. Now apparently back to health after playing a full game in left field Wednesday, Canzone should be a fixture in the lineup against right-handed pitching moving forward.

30m agoFrance went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.
France's 414-foot shot to left center in the fourth inning extended the Mariners' lead to 2-0 and served as his second round-tripper in the last three games. France has also hit safely in all three of those contests, but both his .243 average and .295 on-base percentage are at their lowest points since his rookie 2019 campaign.

1h agoMcCormick (hamstring) will make his second rehab appearance with Double-A Corpus Christi on Friday, MLB.com reports.
McCormick is nearing a return, as he played five innings in center field with Corpus Christi on Tuesday. However, he won't be back in the minor-league lineup again until Friday, meaning he won't be activated from the injured list until at least Saturday. McCormick has gone 2-for-7 in his first two appearances on the rehab outing.

Conley is listed as questionable for Thursday's contest after missing Game 5 with right Achilles soreness. While Conley's presence at shootaround is a good sign of his availability, the veteran guard was also at shootaround ahead of Game 5 before being ruled out.

Dort didn't have his best shooting performance and was particularly woeful from three-point range, but he still delivered decent fantasy value due to his ability to fill the stat sheet. Dort will need to be better Saturday, as the Thunder will try to avoid elimination in a pivotal Game 6 in Dallas, but the odds are against him. Through five games in the series, Dort is averaging just 10.4 points while shooting a meager 31.4 percent from the field.

18m agoGilgeous-Alexander racked up 30 points (12-22 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-6 FT), six rebounds, eight assists, one block and two steals across 43 minutes during Wednesday's 104-92 loss to Dallas in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Whether the Thunder struggle offensively or not, Gilgeous-Alexander will always get the job done. Unfortunately, he couldn't do everything on his own Wednesday, and he came up short of carrying OKC to a Game 5 victory despite filling out the stat sheet admirably. With the Thunder's back against the wall, Gilgeous-Alexander will need to be at his best on Saturday, as the Thunder will aim to avoid an early playoff exit on the road in Game 6. The star floor general is averaging 31.4 points, 9.0 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game in the current series against Dallas while riding a four-game streak of appearances with 30 or more points.

20m agoJones had 19 points (7-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, one assist, one block and one steal across 28 minutes during Wednesday's 104-92 win over Oklahoma City in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
The Mavericks needed someone to step up offensively due to P.J. Washington's cold shooting and Kyrie Irving's struggles throughout the series, and Jones embraced that role to deliver a playoff-best scoring mark. Jones has scored in double digits in back-to-back contests, setting him up for having a solid role Saturday in Game 6. He's averaging 9.8 points per game in the current postseason run.

Dereck Lively II DAL CMavericks' Dereck Lively: Efficient off bench in Game 5
22m agoLively totaled 11 points (3-4 FG, 5-6 FT), 10 rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in 23 minutes during Wednesday's 104-92 win over the Thunder in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Lively has been playing off the bench due to the solid play of Daniel Gafford down low, but the rookie out of Duke made his presence felt on both ends of the court Wednesday. Aside from missing just one shot from the field, Lively was active defensively and recorded the first playoff double-double of his career. Lively is averaging 7.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in the postseason, and while he looked very good in this pivotal win, he's not expected to move to a starting role ahead of Game 6 on Saturday.

23m agoWilliams registered 12 points (6-13 FG, 0-3 3Pt), six rebounds, three assists and three steals across 39 minutes during Wednesday's 104-92 loss to Dallas in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Williams hasn't been able to repeat the same numbers he posted during the first-round series against the Pelicans, and he's yet to surpass the 20-point mark in the current series against the Mavericks -- an alarming figure given he averaged 19.1 points per game in the regular season and 21.3 points per contest against New Orleans. Williams is also shooting a meager 40.8 percent from the field in the current series against Dallas.

16m agoKreider (undisclosed) told reporters he would be in action versus the Hurricanes for Game 6 on Thursday, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.
Kreider didn't play it coy like coach Peter Laviolette, clearly telling reporters that he would be in the lineup Thursday. Through the first five games of this series, the 33-year-old winger has generated two goals and two assists, including three power-play points. Even with concerns about a potential minor injury, Kreider remains a top-end fantasy target heading into Game 6.

Brad Marchand BOS LWBruins' Brad Marchand: Still considered day-to-day
34m agoMarchand (upper body) was again labeled day-to-day ahead of Game 6 against the Panthers on Friday, Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe reports.
Marchand did practice with the No. 1 power-play unit, which is a good indication that he will be back in the lineup Friday even if coach Jim Montgomery wouldn't confirm his captain's status. If given the all-clear, Marchand should immediately reclaim a top-six role as he looks to end a six-game goal drought that dates back to April 27 versus the Maple Leafs.

Rangers' Chris Kreider: Status Thursday uncertain
38m agoKreider, who took a maintenance day Wednesday, is not a lock to suit up against Carolina in Game 6 on Thursday, though coach Peter Laviolette said it was "a real positive" that Kreider skated Thursday, Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today reports.
Kreider's potential absence could be nothing more than playoff head games being played by the Rangers bench boss, but unfortunately, fantasy players will need to monitor the situation ahead of warmups. In nine playoff appearances, the 33-year-old Kreider has generated four goals and three assists, including three power-play points. If Kreider can't go in game 6, Will Cuylle could be shifted into a top-six role.

Brett Pesce CAR DHurricanes' Brett Pesce: Officially ruled out Thursday
1h agoPesce (lower body) will not be in the lineup against the Rangers in Game 6 on Thursday, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports.
Pesce got onto the ice for the first time Wednesday, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to see him still being held out for Game 6. Still, it's a step in the right direction for the 29-year-old blueliner, who could be in contention should the series go to Game 7 on Saturday. Considering Pesce has managed a mere two points in his last 19 outings, his potential return is unlikely to impact the majority of fantasy players.

Laberge finally made his NHL debut this season, playing in two games for the Devils in which he generated three hits while logging a combined 6:11 of ice time. Considering the 27-year-old winger has never reached the 20-point threshold in AHL action, he figures to remain primarily a fringe roster option for New Jersey moving forward.

Devils' Brian Halonen: Secures two-year deal
2h agoHalonen inked a two-year, two-way contract with New Jersey on Thursday.
Halonen played in just two NHL games this season in which he registered two shots and two hits while averaging 8:17 of ice time. The 25-year-old winger was significantly more productive in the minors, racking up 20 goals and nine helpers with AHL Utica. Even with this new deal in hand, Halonen figures to remain primarily an AHL option for the club next season.
