Miami added offensive tackle Patrick Paul in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft to help Tagovailoa stay upright, a key move following the departure of Robert Hunt to Carolina, but the team's only notable skill-position splashes were sixth-round wideout Malik Washington and fourth-round running back Jaylen Wright, both of whom are speedsters set to begin in depth roles. Adding an experienced veteran in the form of Beckham should finally provide Miami's offense with a reliable third starting wideout, something the team has lacked since coach Mike McDaniel's arrival in 2022. As Marcel Louis-Jacques notes, beyond the top tandem of Hill and Waddle no receiver has logged more than 32 catches or 417 yards in the McDaniel era. The arrival of Beckham, not to mention new tight end Jonnu Smith, promises to finally provide Tagovailoa with more reliable playmakers beyond his top two options.

14h agoBailey agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Cardinals on Tuesday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
After four years in Cincinnati, Bailey will get a fresh start in Arizona. The 27-year-old accumulated 73 tackles (46 solo) across 60 games with the Bengals, primarily as a depth linebacker and special teams contributor. He will now look to impress in OTAs and carve out a role for himself with his new team.

17h agoBrown (ankle) was waived by the Titans on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Brown spent all last season on IR, but he was waived without an injury designation, so he should be considered healthy moving forward. The 25-year-old was an undrafted free agent out of Troy in 2023 and was working to earn a spot on the Titans roster when he suffered the injury in a preseason contest.

Ryan Swoboda ATL OLRyan Swoboda: Gets cut loose
17h agoSwoboda (undisclosed) was waived by the Falcons with an injury designation Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Swoboda will revert to injured reserve if he goes unclaimed. At that point, he'll be forced to miss the entirety of the 2024 campaign unless he can reach an injury settlement with Atlanta.

Kyle Peko DET NTLions' Kyle Peko: Finds new home
17h agoPeko (calf) signed a contract with the Lions on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Peko finished last season on injured reserve after competing in 13 games and recording 22 combined tackles. Now healthy again, the veteran lineman will get an opportunity in Detroit for his seventh NFL season. The Oregon State product will also have the chance to reunite with his defensive line coach from the Titans, Terrell Williams, who holds the same position now with the Lions.

18h agoThe Giants have claimed Rourke off waivers from the Patriots, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
After being waived by the Patriots on Monday, Rourke was quickly scooped up by the Giants. The 25-year-old is thus slated to add depth to a New York QB corps that also includes Daniel Jones, who is bouncing back from a torn ACL, as well as Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito.

He's clearing out to make room on the roster for Yohan Ramirez, who was claimed off waivers. Sulser holds a 9.64 ERA and 7:3 K:BB across 4.2 relief innings during his time with the Mets this season.

Kyle Harrison SF SPGiants' Kyle Harrison: Stymies Rockies at Coors
13m agoHarrison (3-1) earned the win over the Rockies on Tuesday, tossing seven shutout innings while allowing four hits and two walks. He struck out two.
Harrison twirled another gem Tuesday night, this time in the hitter-friendly Coors Field. He tossed a career-best seven scoreless frames and has now allowed just one run over his last 18 innings pitched. Harrison's battled control issues in Triple-A but seems to have wiped away any concerns thus far. Through eight starts thus far, Harrison has gone at least six innings and issued two or less walks in five times. He's now down to a 3.20 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 40:12 K:BB in 45 innings and projects for a matchup at home against the Reds over the weekend.

22m agoWade went 1-for-2 with three walks and two RBI in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Rockies.
Wade reached base four times and produced a key two-run single in the fourth to extend the Giants' lead to 4-0. Wade strictly operates in a platoon against right-handed pitching, though if he had enough plate appearances to qualify, he'd be leading the majors with a .485 OBP and 21.4 percent walk rate. He's now reached safely in eight straight games and is slashing .351/.485/.442 with a homer, 10 RBI, 12 runs and a 21:26 BB:K in 101 plate appearances.

Mets' Christian Scott: Draws another start Friday
23m agoScott is scheduled to start Friday's game against Atlanta at Citi Field.
One of the top pitching prospects in the organization, Scott impressed in his MLB debut this past Saturday against the Rays, striking out six over 6.2 innings while allowing one run on five hits and one walk. Despite his stellar debut and strong track record in the minors, the 24-year-old righty likely won't have much margin for error moving forward if he hopes to maintain a spot in the big-league rotation. The Mets have gotten excellent production from three other rotation members (Luis Severino, Sean Manaea and Jose Butto) this season, and while Jose Quintana has struggled (5.20 ERA, 1.54 WHIP in seven starts), his long track record in the majors as well as his $13 million salary for 2024 likely gives him some level of security. Additionally, the Mets could get Tylor Megill (shoulder) back from the 15-day injured list next week, so a poor outing from Scott on Friday could put him at risk of a demotion to Triple-A Syracuse.

15m agoWhite registered 25 points (9-16 FG, 7-12 3Pt), one rebound and five assists in 33 minutes during Tuesday's 120-95 victory over Cleveland in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
White embraced a bigger role on offense on a night where Jayson Tatum struggled (7-19 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), and he responded by delivering his third consecutive game with 25 or more points. White has taken a step forward with Kristaps Porzingis (calf) sidelined, and it'd be fair to consider him Boston's third-best offensive weapon under the current lineup construction. He'll aim to keep the streak alive in Game 2 on Thursday, as the Celtics have gone 20-3 this season when he's scored 20 or more points between the regular season and the playoffs.

Jayson Tatum had a rough shooting performance in the series opener, but Brown was there to pick him up, and the latter led the Celtics in scoring with an impressive, efficient display on the offensive end of the court. Brown has scored 20 or more points in four of his last five playoff appearances, and he'll aim to keep that streak alive in Game 2 on Thursday.

24m agoTatum totaled 18 points (7-19 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 11 rebounds, five assists and three blocks over 35 minutes during Tuesday's 120-95 victory over the Cavaliers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
The Celtics cruised to a 25-point win in the series opener, but Tatum's shooting struggles can't be overlooked, as he had a rough outing and struggled to get things going offensively. The fact that he still came close to reaching the 20-point mark while also posting a double-double goes to show just how immensely talented he is, as he can post above-average numbers even when he has a down night by his standards. Tatum will aim to deliver a bounce-back performance in Game 2 on Thursday.

Darius Garland CLE PGCavaliers' Darius Garland: Poor shooting display Tuesday
25m agoGarland had 14 points (6-15 FG, 2-8 3Pt), three rebounds, five assists and one steal over 36 minutes during Tuesday's 120-95 loss to the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Garland is in line for a rough matchup in this series, as he'll have to deal with two excellent defenders in Jrue Holiday and Derrick White, so his Game 1 display is not entirely surprising. He didn't have his best performances in the first-round series against the Magic either, and he's averaging just 14.8 points and 5.4 assists per game through eight playoff appearances. In fact, Garland has failed to surpass the 15-point mark in six of his eight playoff outings, a clear downgrade after averaging 18.0 points per contest during the regular season.

Donovan Mitchell CLE SGCavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Puts up 33 points in Game 1 loss
28m agoMitchell produced 33 points (12-25 FG, 4-11 3Pt, 5-5 FT), six rebounds, five assists and one steal across 37 minutes during Tuesday's 120-95 loss to the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Mitchell carried the momentum he had from his epic Game 7 performance against the Magic on Sunday and surpassed the 30-point mark once again. However, the rest of his teammates didn't step up, and the Cavaliers suffered a devastating 25-point loss in the series opener. Mitchell should continue to post excellent numbers as the Cavaliers' go-to player on offense -- by a wide margin -- but there's a chance his mighty performances might not translate into wins as it happened against the Magic in the previous round.

Evan Mobley CLE PFCavaliers' Evan Mobley: Double-doubles in Game 1 loss
29m agoMobley accumulated 17 points (8-12 FG, 1-2 FT), 13 rebounds, three assists and one block in 32 minutes during Tuesday's 120-95 loss to the Celtics in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Mobley continues to play as Cleveland's starting center with Jarrett Allen (ribs) sidelined, but his numbers have not suffered a downgrade. Mobley recorded his third double-double across his last four appearances Tuesday, and he should continue to operate as a reliable two-way threat in Game 2 on Thursday, especially if Allen is unable to suit up once again.

Cale Makar COL DAvalanche's Cale Makar: Three points to open series
3m agoMakar tallied a goal and two assists in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Stars.
Makar logged a pair of power-play points in the second period, setting up a Valeri Nichushkin marker before scoring later in the frame. The blueliner would add a third point with another assist on Nathan MacKinnon's game-tying goal in the opening seconds of the third. The 25-year-old Makar has at least one point in all six postseason contests, totaling three goals and nine assists. He posted 90 points (21 goals, 69 assists) in 77 regular-season games.

Jake Oettinger DAL GStars' Jake Oettinger: Falls in OT
7m agoOettinger allowed four goals on 26 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Avalanche.
Oettinger and the Stars jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period. However, Colorado would tie the game with a pair of power-play markers in the second and a Nathan MacKinnon goal 39 seconds into the third before Miles Wood beat Oettinger for the game-winner in overtime. It's the first time that Oettinger's allowed more than two goals in a game since the first game of the opening round against Vegas. The 25-year-old netminder now sports a .915 save percentage with a 2.15 GAA through his first eight postseason contests.

12m agoGeorgiev stopped 19 of 22 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Stars.
The Stars jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period, scoring three times within 10 minutes in the frame. However, Georgiev would hold them scoreless on their final 13 shots over the final two periods and overtime as the Avs rallied for a 4-3 overtime victory. It's the fifth straight win for Georgiev after he dropped the first game of Colorado's opening-round series. The 28-year-old netminder sports an .889 save percentage with a 2.94 GAA in the postseason.

Mika Zibanejad NYR CRangers' Mika Zibanejad: Assist on game-winner
8h agoZibanejad had the primary assist on Vincent Trocheck's game-winning goal in Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime win over Carolina in Game 2.
Zibanejad threw a shot towards the net during the second overtime that popped out to Vincent Trocheck for the game-winner. In addition to the assist, Zibanejad recorded six shots on net, two hits and a minus-2 rating in the tilt. He already has four points (two goals) in two contests this series. The first-line center is up to 11 points in the playoffs -- just one behind superstar center Connor McDavid.

Alex Wennberg NYR CRangers' Alexander Wennberg: Chipping in offense
8h agoWennberg produced a secondary assist in Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime win over Carolina in Game 2.
Wennberg helped out on Alexis Lafreniere's goal in the first period. It was the first point in six playoff contests this year for the 29-year-old Wennberg, who is relied upon for depth, not primary scoring. He's been serving as the Rangers' third-line center between Will Cuylle and Kaapo Kakko.

Vincent Trocheck NYR CRangers' Vincent Trocheck: Nets game-winning goal
8h agoTrocheck scored the game-winning goal in Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime win over Carolina in Game 2.
Trocheck was able to find a rebound in front of Frederik Andersen before he buried the puck five-hole to win the contest for New York. Trocheck also registered a primary assist on Chris Kreider's third-period tally to go along with six shots on goal, one blocked shot and three hits. Furthermore, the 30-year-old Trocheck skated the most of any player on either team in Tuesday's tilt with a whopping 35:21 of ice time. He's up to five goals and five assists in six appearances this postseason.
