49ers' Brandon Aiyuk: Likely staying in Bay Area
    3h ago

49ers GM John Lynch recently told ESPN's Pat McAfee Show that he doesn't want to trade Aiyuk or Deebo Samuel despite taking Ricky Pearsall in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Trade rumors earlier in the offseason centered on Aiyuk, who is scheduled to play out 2024 under the fifth-year option on his rookie contract. After the Niners drafted Pearsall, a few reporters suggested Samuel was actually more likely to be moved, in which case the Niners presumably would place greater emphasis on signing Aiyuk to a long-term deal. It now appears both will stay with the team this season, as will returning No. 3 receiver Jauan Jennings. That's not a guarantee, but it at least seems more likely that spring 2025 will be the break-up date for San Francisco's veteran WR corps. Aiyuk and Jennings are only under contract through 2024, while Samuel has two more year on his deal but no guaranteed money after this season.

Browns' Dorian Thompson-Robinson: Will have followup MRI on Monday
    1d ago

Thompson-Robinson (hip) will undergo an MRI on Monday and is expected to participate in minicamp next week, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.

DTR suffered a hip subluxation against the Texans on Christmas Eve and was ruled out for the remainder of the Browns' season. His most recent MRI in March revealed progress in his rehab, and Thompson-Robinson is hoping the latest one this upcoming week will allow him to get the green light to do some on-field work with the team's rookies and fellow younger players. The Browns signed veteran QBs Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley in the offseason, so DTR is facing stiff competition for backup duties behind Deshaun Watson.

    1d ago

Ali (biceps) is participating in some of the Ravens' minicamp drills and is expected to be fully recovered ahead of training camp, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.

The rookie fifth-round pick ruptured his biceps tendon at the Senior Bowl back in late January, but the Marshall product is expected to be fully recovered ahead of Baltimore's training camp in August. Ali is poised to compete for a pivotal role in the backfield, as J.K. Dobbins (Achilles) and Gus Edwards are now both with the Chargers and Keaton Mitchell (knee) is still recovering after tearing his ACL in December.

Ravens' Rasheen Ali: Hopeful for training camp
    1d ago

Head coach John Harbaugh indicated Saturday that he expects Ali (biceps) to be good to go in time for training camp, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.

Ali ruptured his biceps tendon at the Senior Bowl, but he was still selected by the Ravens in the fifth round of this year's draft. The intriguing prospect had multiple 1,000-yard seasons with Marshall, but he also missed nearly the entire 2022 campaign due to an MCL injury. When healthy, he projects to compete for a role providing depth in Baltimore's backfield behind Derrick Henry.

Cardinals' Matthew Liberatore: Effective in rare start
    6m ago

Liberatore pitched 3.2 innings, giving up one run on three hits while striking out five batters in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the White Sox. He did not factor into the decision.

Liberatore was called upon to make his first start of the season Sunday and he did not disappoint. The southpaw allowed a double to Paul DeJong in the second inning, who later came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Bryan Ramos, accounting for all the damage on Liberatore's line. The 24-year-old's 50 total pitches were his highest total of the season while the 3.2 innings on the mound set a new long for an outing this season. Operating primarily as a bullpen option in 2024, Liberatore now owns a 2.70 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 15 strikeouts over 20 innings in 13 appearances, including Sunday's start.

Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Allows five runs in loss
    7m ago

Feltner (1-3) suffered the loss Sunday, allowing five runs on eight hits through 5.2 innings against the Pirates. He struck out three.

Feltner was in line for the win through five innings, having allowed only one run to that point but he allowed four runs on five hits in the sixth, including a couple of doubles and a blast by Oneil Cruz that helped seal Feltner's fate. Feltner was coming off a career-best eight-plus inning performance in his last start but eventually ran out of gas against a Pirates squad that had only managed three runs during the first two games of the series. Feltner will carry a 5.54 ERA and 1.46 ERA into his next start, tentatively lined up for next weekend when the Rangers come to the Mile High City for a three-game set.

White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Goes deep in win
    13m ago

Jimenez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Cardinals.

Jimenez entered Sunday's matchup without a home run in his last six contests, but he was able to snap that streak with a solo shot, launching his fourth homer of the year in the top of the seventh inning off reliever Giovanny Gallegos. The long ball gave the team a 2-1 lead and the right-hander has now recorded at least one hit in seven of his last nine games, batting .270 with two home runs, five RBI and six runs scored over that stretch.

    19m ago

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Sunday that LeMahieu (foot) recently resumed hitting but that the veteran infielder may not be "that close to being ready for rehab [games]," Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

The 35-year-old was shut down for a week in late April after he experienced swelling in his foot during a rehab game, and he's now back to taking part in baseball activities. It's an encouraging development following the setback, but LeMahieu still has some work to do in his recovery before again being cleared for minor-league action.

Grossman opened the game with a leadoff double off Matthew Liberatore before ripping a one-out single in the third frame, swiping second base for his second steal of the season. He also added a sacrifice fly off John King in top of the seventh inning, scoring teammate Bryan Ramos for the team's final tally of the game. Grossman has been splitting time with Gavin Sheets in the outfield, starting most often when the team faces a left-hander like Liberatore, but he has now gone 4-for-11 with three doubles, two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base over his last three contests.
