3h agoMcLeod (biceps) said Tuesday he plans to retire after the 2024 campaign, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN reports.
McLeod is presumably healthy after a biceps injury limited him to 10 appearances (five starts) in 2023. He signed a one-year deal back in March to return to Cleveland for a second season. The soon-to-be 34-year-old figures to contribute on defense in a depth capacity, while also handling a role on special teams.

Michael Wilson ARI WRCardinals' Michael Wilson: Outlook muddied after recent arrivals
1d agoWilson has more competition for targets from quarterback Kyler Murray after the team selected Marvin Harrison fourth overall in this year's draft and then signed seven-year pro Zay Jones last week, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Wilson spent much of the offseason No. 2, at best, in the pecking order in the Cardinals passing game behind tight end Trey McBride, but the recent additions leave Wilson's potential volume in the upcoming campaign up in the air. As a rookie third-round pick last year, Wilson put together a 38-565-3 line on 58 targets in 13 contests, but he produced just 13 catches (on 25 targets) for 164 yards and one touchdown in five outings with Murray under center. The arrival of the dynamic Harrison likely leaves Wilson fending for looks with Jones, who has three years with at least 500 receiving yards on his resume.

1d agoElliss (shoulder) should be fully recovered from shoulder surgery by training camp, Mike Klis of 9News reports.
Elliss underwent surgery to repair a torn shoulder labrum six months ago, but he still isn't quite 100 percent. However, the Broncos' 2024 third-round selection was able to take part in walkthroughs and individual portions of the team's recent rookie minicamp. The son of former NFL player Luther Elliss, Jonah projects to be a pass-rush specialist after recording 12 sacks in just 10 games at Utah last season.

Jalen Camp CLE WRBrowns' Jalen Camp: Finds new opportunity
1d agoCamp signed a contract with the Browns on Tuesday.
Camp bounced around multiple practice squads last season, including Carolina's, which he was waived from Friday. The Georgia Tech product will now work to make the most of his new opportunity in Cleveland after not being able to find his way onto an active NFL roster in 2023.

1d agoHavrisik was waived by the Browns on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Havrisik signed a reserve/future contract with Cleveland in January after the Rams waived him. He was expected to at least have the opportunity to compete with Dustin Hopkins (hamstring) and Cade York for the team's kicker job in 2024, but instead, he'll become a free agent once again.

Luciano was set to get a second opportunity with the 49ers after appearing in two games with the franchise last season. However, he'll now hit the open market again to make room for swing tackle Chris Hubbard.

26m agoThe Angels recalled Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
The 26-year-old had a one-day stint in the majors in late April but didn't see game action. Daniel made three appearances for the Angels last season and posted a 2.19 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 9:9 K:BB over 12.1 innings.

34m agoThe Angels designated Garrett for assignment Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Garrett will be pushed off the 40-man roster as Davis Daniel comes up from Triple-A Salt Lake to take Garrett's place in the Angels' bullpen. Since joining the active roster in late April, the 32-year-old southpaw has given up three earned runs while striking out 11 batters through 5.1 innings across six appearances. He's performed well in the minors this year and found a good amount of success last season with the Royals, so it's possible he draws interest from other teams on the waiver wire.

The 24-year-old outfielder also logged his first multi-hit game since May 4, boosting his slash line to .257/.331/.354with 20 runs scored, 10 RBI and five steals across 160 plate appearances this year.

Gasser was solid in his second big-league outing, allowing just one run in the third inning while the Brewers exploded for 10 runs in a convincing victory. The 24-year-old southpaw has allowed just one run through 11 innings in his first two starts after posting a 5.25 ERA in three outings with Triple-A Nashville. Gasser figures to stick in Milwaukee's rotation while DL Hall (knee) is sidelined. He's currently slated for a road matchup with the Marlins in his next start.

LeVert started in place of Donovan Mitchell (calf) during Monday's Game 4 loss but aggravated a lingering knee injury and will join Mitchell and Jarrett Allen (ribs) on the sidelines Wednesday. Dean Wade will move into the starting lineup, which also features Darius Garland, Isaac Okoro, Max Strus and Evan Mobley. LeVert's season will be over if Cleveland doesn't win Wednesday in Boston.

Conley was a late addition to the injury report ahead of Game 5 due to right Achilles soreness and was ultimately unable to play, allowing Nickeil Alexander-Walker to get his first start of the postseason. If Conley is sidelined again, Monte Morris would be a candidate for double-digit minutes off the bench.

David Rittich LA GKings' David Rittich: Inks one-year deal
2h agoRittich signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Kings on Wednesday.
Rittich had a 13-6-3 record, 2.15 GAA and .921 save percentage in 24 regular-season appearances with the Kings in 2023-24. He also stopped 34 of 39 shots (.872 save percentage) across two playoff outings this year. Rittich would have become an unrestricted free agent this summer if he didn't sign this extension. Cam Talbot, who logged 54 regular-season games with LA, remains set to become a UFA, so it's unclear who Rittich's goaltending partner will be next year. Although the 31-year-old Rittich is coming off a strong campaign, he has spent most of his career as a backup goaltender, so it wouldn't be surprising if the Kings seek to pair him with an established starter.

4h agoOettinger is set to guard the home goal in Wednesday's Game 5 against the Avalanche, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports.
Oettinger is aiming for his fourth consecutive victory after stopping 80 of 85 shots (.941 save percentage) across his previous three wins over Colorado. The netminder has a 7-4 record, 2.02 GAA and .923 save percentage in 11 playoff appearances this year. While Oettinger has been great, the Avalanche have a potent offense, so it wouldn't be surprising if they prove to be quite the challenge for the 25-year-old goaltender as Colorado fights to avoid elimination.

Petrovic recorded five goals and 22 points in 70 regular-season outings with Texas and contributed a marker in seven AHL playoff contests. The 32-year-old isn't likely to play in Game 5 against Colorado on Wednesday.

5h agoBourque was called up from AHL Texas on Wednesday.
Bourque's promotion comes after AHL Texas was eliminated from the Calder Cup playoffs. The 22-year-old center racked up 26 goals and 51 helpers in 71 AHL regular-season contests before adding another 11 points in seven postseason games with Texas. Even if Bourque doesn't see much time in the Stanley Cup playoffs, he should be in the mix for a roster spot heading into the 2024-25 campaign given his offensive upside.

Filip Chytil NYR CRangers' Filip Chytil: Slated to be available for Thursday
7h agoChytil (illness) is slated to be an option for Thursday's Game 6 against Carolina, per Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today on Wednesday.
Chytil returned from a head injury last Thursday, but after recording a shot in 12:02 of ice time in that contest, the 24-year-old missed the past two outings due to the illness. He's also been dealing with some soreness unrelated to his previous head injury. Chytil might serve in a bottom-six role versus the Hurricanes, but it's also possible he'll be a healthy scratch.

Toews' return to the lineup should bolster the Avs' offensive options considering he has generated six points through eight postseason contests. Caleb Jones figures to be dropped from the lineup due to Toews' return. In addition to pairing with Cale Makar, the 30-year-old Toews will probably link up with the No. 2 power-play unit.
