Khalil Shakir BUF WR
Bills' Khalil Shakir: New teammate in WR room
5h agoShakir has a new teammate in the receiving room after the Bills took Keon Coleman out of Florida State with the first pick of the second round Friday.
This may not be a terrible thing for Shakir's 2024 outlook, as it was doubtful the Bills were going to enter the season with such a thin wideout crew, and the attention of a big target like Coleman might allow Shakir to see better looks. The latter is coming off a 39-611-2 season in 17 regular-season games, but with Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis off to new locales, Shakir has room to grow his production in his third NFL season. For now, he and Coleman project as starters, while Curtis Samuel is more of a hybrid No. 3.

Zaven Collins ARI LB
Cardinals' Zaven Collins: Option not picked up
12h agoThe Cardinals have opted not to pick up Collins' fifth-year option, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
This move is somewhat of a surprise, as Collins' started all 33 games he has played the previous two seasons, and he projects to continue starting at defensive end in 2024. He did see his production decrease this past year in the tackle department, dropping from 100 (63) in 2022 to 41 (27 solo) in 2023. The 24-year-old is now heading into a contract year and will look to prove his value accordingly.
-
Boston Scott PHI RB
Rams' Boston Scott: Fresh start in L.A.
12h agoScott agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Rams on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Scott spent his first six seasons in Philadelphia, but he will now get a fresh start in Los Angeles. While he was never a major part of the Eagles' offense during his tenure, he saw his role as a third-down back shrink during the 2023 campaign. The 29-year-old will presumably be behind Kyren Williams and rookie Blake Corum on the Rams' depth chart, and Scott will compete with Ronnie Rivers and Zach Evans for the No. 3 role.
-
Kaden Davis ARI WR
Kaden Davis: Cut by Arizona
13h agoThe Cardinals waived Davis on Tuesday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Davis spent most of the 2023 season on Arizona's practice squad. The Cardinals drafted a pair of wideouts in last week's NFL Draft, so Davis will look for work elsewhere.

Jarrett Stidham DEN QB
Broncos' Jarrett Stidham: Denver adds QB depth
13h agoFollowing the 2024 NFL Draft, Stidham is joined in the Broncos' QB room by newcomer Zach Wilson, along with No. 12 overall pick Bo Nix, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
After the Broncos released Russell Wilson last month, it was inevitable that they would add QB depth to join Stidham, who started Denver's final two contests last season. While Nix is no doubt being groomed as the team's future starter, it remains to be seen if he'll step into that role immediately. Until then, Stidham and Wilson will presumably both have an opportunity to compete for the No. 1 role, but neither veteran signal-caller profiles as a high-value fantasy option in either re-draft or dynasty formats.
-
James Conner ARI RB
Cardinals' James Conner: Leader of improved backfield
13h agoRookie third-round pick Trey Benson is unlikely to take Conner's starting job but may eventually force a timeshare in the Cardinals' backfield, according to KC Joyner of The Athletic.
Conner has missed multiple games in each of his seven NFL seasons, though never more than six in any one year, so any competition for touches could sort itself out. His 2023 included career highs for rushing yards (1,040) and yards per carry (5.0), with the downside being his fewest targets (33) and catches (27, 2.1 per game) since he was a barely-used rookie with Pittsburgh in 2017. The lack of receiving volume was partially a product of Emari Demercado getting playing time in passing situations, and it's worth noting that the Cardinals have two other backs in Michael Carter, DeeJay Dallas with track records as passing-down specialists. That said, Conner still figures to be the starter and lead runner, with Benson being the main threat to poach carries and TDs even if other guys are in the mix on passing downs.

Andres Munoz SEA RP
Mariners' Andres Munoz: Goes five outs for save
2m agoMunoz completed a five-out save in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Atlanta, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out three in the process.
Munoz was forced into the game a bit earlier than expected after Ryne Stanek allowed three base hits to turn things into a 3-1 ballgame. Munoz did allow an inherited runner to score on a throwing error but was dominant otherwise and retired the side in order in the ninth with two strikeouts. Tuesday was the fourth time this season Munoz has pitched more than three outs and it was the third consecutive save he's converted, with all three coming over the last five days. The 25-year-old now owns a 2.25 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 16:7 K:BB in 12 innings thus far.
-
Brandon Hughes ARI RP
Diamondbacks' Brandon Hughes: Opens Tuesday
4m agoHughes opened Tuesday's game and allowed one hit while striking out two over a scoreless inning in a 4-3 extra-inning win over the Dodgers.
Hughes had his contract purchased from Triple-A Reno earlier in the day then found out he was starting 45 minutes before first pitch, per Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports. The left-hander was the first of seven pitchers in what became a bullpen day caused by a delay. A 6:40 pm scheduled start turned into an 8:35 pm start after a colony of bees settled atop the protective netting behind home plate. Arizona's scheduled starter, Jordan Montgomery, was scratched and is expected to start Wednesday.
-
Luis Castillo SEA SP
Mariners' Luis Castillo: Dominates Atlanta
8m agoCastillo (3-4) earned the win over Atlanta on Tuesday, tossing seven shutout innings while allowing just three hits and a walk. He struck out seven.
Castillo was dominant once again en route to his third consecutive win. He registered 20 whiffs with 10 of those coming from his fastball and did not give up an extra-base knock. It's safe to say that Castillo is rounding back into ace form. Over his last four starts, he's posted a 1.38 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 31:4 K:BB in 26 innings while allowing a .174 opponent batting average over that span. The 31-year-old will look to keep it rolling in a projected road start against the red-hot Twins next week.
-
Christian Walker ARI 1B
Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Walks off Dodgers
15m agoWalker went 3-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI in Tuesday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Dodgers.
Walker bookended the Diamondbacks' scoring with a solo home run in the fourth inning then a two-run, walk-off job in the bottom of the 10th. He closed out the month on a roll, going 10-for-24 (.417) with four homers and nine RBI over the final seven games. The first baseman has a team-high seven home runs and is tied for the team lead with 22 RBI.
-
Josh Rojas SEA 3B
Mariners' Josh Rojas: Notches stolen base Tuesday
16m agoRojas went 1-for-1 with three walks, a steal and a run scored in Tuesday's win over Atlanta.
Rojas reached base each time he stepped up to the plate and came around to score on a two-run homer by Jorge Polanco in the third. It was just the second time this season he's drawn multiple walks in a game. He's now led off in all four of his starts since J.P. Crawford (oblique) was placed on the IL last week and has managed two homers, four runs, a steal and a 4:1 BB:K in 16 plate appearances thus far. Crawford is expected to be sidelined for a little while longer and Rojas figures to remain atop of the order for the time being, at least against right-handed pitching.
-
Kyle Nelson ARI RP
Diamondbacks' Kyle Nelson: Surgery needed
23m agoNelson (shoulder) will undergo thoracic outlet surgery, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.
Nelson pitched through discomfort but finally succumbed to the pain and had his shoulder checked by a specialist, who confirmed the need for the procedure. Pitchers typically require at least 12 weeks of recovery time following TOS surgery, per MLB.com. Nelson was transferred to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, which opened a spot on the 40-man roster for left-hander Brandon Hughes, whose contract was purchased from Triple-A Reno.

Andre Jackson Jr. MIL SF
Bucks' Andre Jackson: Fails to score in seven minutes
6h agoJackson chipped in zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt) and one assist across seven minutes during Tuesday's 115-92 win over the Pacers in Game 5 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Jackson played limited minutes off the bench as the Bucks took care of business in front of a vocal home crowd. Strictly used as a depth piece, Jackson is not someone we should expect to see on the court for any significant amount of time moving forward.
-
Bobby Portis MIL PF
Bucks' Bobby Portis: Dominates in Game 5 victory
6h agoPortis racked up 29 points (14-24 FG, 1-3 3Pt), 10 rebounds, one assist and one steal over 39 minutes during Tuesday's 115-92 victory over the Pacers in Game 5 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Portis atoned for his ejection in Game 4, leading the Bucks to an emphatic victory. He led all scorers with 29 points, having his way on the interior against a Pacers team that looked totally out-enthused. With Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf) still on the sideline, Portis has been the primary beneficiary. Milwaukee will need for him to replicate this performance should they hope to force a Game 7.
-
Patrick Beverley MIL PG
Bucks' Patrick Beverley: Double-doubles in victory
6h agoBeverley accumulated 13 points (4-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 4-5 FT), four rebounds, 12 assists, one block and two steals in 36 minutes during Tuesday's 115-92 win over Indiana in Game 5 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Beverley turned back the clock in the victory, racking up his first double-double of the season. With Damian Lillard (Achilles) sidelined, Beverley has stepped into a much larger role than anticipated. If the Bucks are to force a Game 7, he will need to once again be at the height of his powers.
-
T.J. McConnell IND PG
Pacers' T.J. McConnell: Quiet in Game 5 loss
6h agoMcConnell logged six points (3-10 FG, 0-2 3Pt), three rebounds and three assists in 16 minutes during Tuesday's 115-92 loss to the Bucks in Game 5 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
McConnell failed to have a significant impact in the loss, continuing his underwhelming series. The Pacers were never really in this one, falling behind early and giving the Bucks some much-needed momentum. Game 6 is in Indiana on Thursday, providing the Pacers with another opportunity to advance to the second round.
-
Jarace Walker IND PF
Pacers' Jarace Walker: Rare appearance Tuesday
6h agoWalker notched one assist over five minutes during Tuesday's 115-92 loss to Milwaukee in Game 5 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Walker played a handful of minutes as the Pacers were blown out by the Bucks in Game 5 of their playoff series. Despite flashes throughout the season, Walker has basically been an afterthought when it comes to meaningful minutes. The two teams will line up again Thursday, as the Pacers try to wrap things up on their home court.
-
Aaron Nesmith IND SF
Pacers' Aaron Nesmith: Passive performance in loss
6h agoNesmith registered seven points (3-9 FG, 1-5 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist, three blocks and one steal across 27 minutes during Tuesday's 115-92 loss to the Bucks in Game 5 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Nesmith salvaged a rough shooting night with modest across-the-board production. Despite playing a significant role, he has been unable to rediscover his form from earlier in the season. While the loss was far from ideal, the Pacers will now head home for Game 6, where they will attempt to wrap up the series.
-
Quinn Hughes VAN D
Canucks' Quinn Hughes: Bags apple in loss
5h agoHughes posted an assist and three shots on goal in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Predators in Game 5.
Hughes is up to five assists, eight shots on net and six blocked shots over five playoff contests. He set up Nikita Zadorov for the opening goal in the third period, though the Canucks couldn't hold that narrow lead. Hughes' play hasn't been as consistent in the playoffs, but he's still seeing a massive workload on the top pairing.
-
Nikita Zadorov VAN D
Canucks' Nikita Zadorov: Tallies again in Game 5
5h agoZadorov scored a goal, added two PIM and logged four hits in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Predators in Game 5.
For the second time in five playoff games, Zadorov had the Canucks' lone goal in a loss. The defenseman has three points, eight shots on net, 22 hits and a plus-1 rating so far in the postseason. He remains on the third pairing on paper, but he's exceeded 20 minutes of ice time in each of the last three games, as it appears he's earned extra responsibility from head coach Rick Tocchet.
-
Arturs Silovs VAN G
Canucks' Arturs Silovs: Can't close out series
5h agoSilovs stopped 20 of 22 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Predators in Game 5.
Silovs gave up goals to Roman Josi and Alexandre Carrier in the third period of a low-scoring loss. With five goals allowed on 52 shots, Silovs has been solid in his two playoff appearances. The 23-year-old may still end up ceding the crease back to Casey DeSmith, who served as backup Tuesday after missing Sunday's Game 4 with a lower-body injury. The Canucks will get their second chance to advance in Friday's Game 6 in Nashville.
-
Tyson Barrie NSH D
Predators' Tyson Barrie: Enters lineup, earns assist
5h agoBarrie posted a power-play assist in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Canucks in Game 5.
Barrie had been scratched for 13 straight games before entering the lineup Tuesday for Luke Schenn (illness). It worked out fine, as Barrie helped out on Roman Josi's game-tying goal in the third period. Barrie had just 15 points in 41 regular-season outings this season, and he'll likely be back in the press box once Schenn is healthy enough to return to the lineup.
-
Gustav Nyquist NSH C
Predators' Gustav Nyquist: Earns helper in Game 5 win
5h agoNyquist produced an assist and two shots on goal in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Canucks in Game 5.
Nyquist set up Alexandre Carrier for the game-winning goal in the third period. The 34-year-old Nyquist has a goal, three assists, five shots on net and five hits over five playoff appearances. The winger should continue to fill a playmaking role on the Predators' top line as they return home for another elimination game Friday.
-
Filip Forsberg NSH LW
Predators' Filip Forsberg: Two helpers in win
5h agoForsberg provided a pair of assists, two shots on goal and four hits in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Canucks in Game 5.
Forsberg helped out on third-period tallies by Roman Josi and Alexandre Carrier to keep the Predators' season alive for another game. Through five playoff outings, Forsberg has been solid with two goals, four assists, 14 shots on net and 17 hits. The 29-year-old winger will continue to play a leading role on offense, which will also see him earn significant power-play minutes.
