Texans' Tank Dell: Engages in workout Saturday
    4h ago

Dell (leg) ran and performed drills Saturday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Dell is recovering from what has been described as a "clean flesh wound" to his left leg sustained as an innocent bystander in a shooting in Florida in late April. The wideout's workout Saturday suggests that he's progressing well and confirms previous reports that the wound was minor. Given his activity Saturday, there appears to be a chance that Dell will participate in the Texans' OTAs, which begin Monday.

Godrick is expected to compete for a roster spot in 2024 after spending his rookie year on Kansas City's practice squad in 2023. It's unclear whether Godrick will face supplemental discipline from the NFL or the Chiefs as a result of this arrest.

Perine was waived by the Chiefs on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Kansas City is parting ways with Perine after he rushed for 77 yards on 22 carries while adding three catches for 33 yards in 2023. The 2020 fourth-round draft pick of the Jets spent his first two seasons in New York. Perine will look to latch on with another team prior to training camp.

Vikings' T.J. Hockenson: No timetable for return
    1d ago

Hockenson (knee) said "they haven't really put a timeline on it" when asked Wednesday about a potential date for his in-season return to action, Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports.

Hockenson was specifically asked on the NFL Schedule Release '24 show whether he expects to be playing Week 5 versus the Jets in London. The standout tight end said of his recovery from a right ACL and MCL tear he's "kinda taking it day by day, week by week," and that "the progression has been incredible" even though a specific return timetable remains uncertain. Hockenson underwent surgery late January and doesn't seem likely to be ready for Week 1, but Week 5 could be within the realm of possibility. The Vikings have a Week 6 bye, however, so it's possible that a more realistic target for Hockenson's debut could be Week 7 and beyond.

Steelers' Najee Harris: Dropping weight for contract season
    1d ago

Harris' trainer said Friday the running back has dropped to around 235 pounds this offseason after playing at 242 during the 2023 season, and that he's increasingly motivated after the Steelers declined his fifth-year option, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.

Harris is heading into the final season of his rookie deal with Pittsburgh, so there's no doubt about his motivation to log a productive year and earn sizeable payday for 2025. Playing at a lower weight could help Harris' efficiency metrics, and there's also some reason to be optimistic that he now finds himself in a better scenario than 2023, when he set new career-high marks with eight rushing touchdowns and 4.1 YPC. Rookie first-round pick Troy Fautanu should represent an upgrade to the O-line, and while there are question marks surrounding Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, both have the potential to command a more effective offense than Kenny Pickett did. Harris is capable of handling 20-plus touches but also dependent on volume to produce, making the emergence of Jaylen Warren the biggest threat to his fantasy prospects.

Mets' Edwin Diaz: Melts down in Miami
    11m ago

Diaz allowed four runs on four hits while recording just one out in Saturday's loss to the Marlins.

The Mets handed the ball to Diaz with a four-run advantage in the bottom of the ninth inning. He permitted a leadoff double and watched that run come around on a one-out single. Another single put two runners on and Josh Bell cashed them and himself in when he sent a ball 428 feet to center field for a three-run homer. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza pulled Diaz at that point. While this didn't officially go down as a blown save, it continued an ugly stretch for Diaz, who has allowed 10 runs over his last eight appearances covering 8.1 frames. When asked after the game about a potential change at closer, Mendoza didn't dismiss it, per Mike Puma of the New York Post. Diaz himself even said he'd be open to working in low-leverage spots for a while as he tries to get back on track. If Mendoza does opt to switch things up, Reed Garrett and Adam Ottavino look to be the top candidates to step in at closer.

Marlins' Braxton Garrett: Not sharp versus Mets
    25m ago

Garrett took a no-decision Saturday against the Mets, getting charged with six runs on seven hits and a walk over 4.1 innings. He struck out five.

Garrett looked out of sorts from the jump, hitting two batters with pitches while allowing three hits and two runs in the first inning. He did start to settle in a bit after that, but Garrett was pulled with the bases loaded and one out in the fifth and then watched all three inherited runners cross the plate. It's been two straight duds from Garrett since he's come off the injured list. Better days are surely ahead, but it will be difficult for fantasy managers to trust him next week in Arizona.

Mets' Luis Severino: Charged with five runs
    32m ago

Severino didn't factor into the decision Saturday in Miami, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks over 6.2 frames. He struck out three.

Severino had limited the Marlins to just two runs through six innings of work. He was sent back out for the seventh, though, in a decision Mets manager Carlos Mendoza probably wishes he could have back. Severino gave up a walk, two hits and two runs in the frame before being pulled and another run was added to his line when an inherited runner scored. In three May starts, Severino has an ugly 13:12 K:BB across 16.2 innings.

Giants' Matt Chapman: Four-hit game Saturday
    39m ago

Chapman went 4-for-4 with a walk and four runs scored in Saturday's 14-4 win over the Rockies.

Chapman doubled and singled twice and also stole his fifth base of the season as he filled the stat sheet. The veteran third baseman had three hits and a steal in Friday's contest, as well, so perhaps he's finally starting to turn the corner. Chapman had been demoted to as low as seventh in the Giants' batting order earlier this month, but he's hit cleanup for the last two games.

Giants' Luis Matos: Stays hot with six-RBI day
    1h ago

Matos went 3-for-5 with a home run and six RBI in Saturday's 14-4 victory over the Rockies.

Matos drove in a career-high five runs in Friday's series opener and then one-upped himself Saturday. He got the scoring going in this one with a two-out, three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning. The youngster then followed that with an RBI double in his next trip to the dish before capping off his night with a two-RBI single. Matos is just the fourth Giants player ever to notch consecutive five-RBI games, and he has tallied a whopping 17 RBI in seven contests since being recalled. While he had just a .661 OPS with the Giants last season and a .663 OPS this year at Triple-A Sacramento, keep in mind that Matos is a former top prospect who just turn 22 in January. At the very least, he's become a guy who needs to be rostered in five-outfielder leagues.

Dodgers' Landon Knack: Likely option to be called up

Knack is no longer listed as Triple-A Oklahoma City's starter Saturday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Not coincidentally, the Dodgers don't have a starter listed for Sunday against the Reds, with manager Dave Roberts saying recalling Knack was one of the options they were considering. It would appear he's the guy they've settled on, whether it's as a traditionally starter or perhaps a bulk reliever.

Murray is questionable to play in Sunday's Game 7 against the Timberwolves due to a left calf strain.

Murray has been listed as questionable throughout the entire series, but that's not surprising, as the star point guard has been dealing with a left calf strain since the end of Denver's first-round series against the Lakers. The Nuggets need Murray to be at his best if they want to win Sunday, as he's coming off a woeful showing in the Game 6 loss on Thursday, scoring 10 points while shooting 4-for-18 from the field.

The questionable tag is all there is work with right now in terms of specifics, but New York fans will be thrilled that there's a chance Anunoby is able return for the first time since Game 2. There should be additional clarity on Anunoby's status following the Sunday morning shootaround.

Knicks' Josh Hart: Iffy for Game 7 with abdominal strain

Hart suffered an abdominal strain during Friday's Game 6 against Indiana, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. He's officially listed as questionable for Sunday's Game 7.

Hart exited Friday's Game 6 early with abdominal soreness but further testing indicated that Hart's dealing with a strained abdomen. Even if Hart gets the green light, it's unlikely that he'd be at 100 percent considering the recency of the issue. If the 28-year-old can't go, expect Miles McBride. Alec Burks and Precious Achiuwa to see more minutes.

McDermott played three minutes to close the game Friday, at which point the Pacers had the game sealed up. Having played a total of just 19 minutes in the series, it's safe to say that McDermott is not going to play a role in determining the outcome of what has been a fantastic series between two bitter rivals.
