Treylon Burks TEN WR
Titans' Treylon Burks: Still has role in crowded WR room
3m agoCoach Brian Callahan said Thursday that Burks still has a role in Tennessee's wide receiver corps after the team's signing of veteran slot specialist Tyler Boyd, Nick Suss of the Nashville Tennessean reports.
Callahan said of Burks' offseason "the work that he's put in has been really impressive," per Turron Davenport of ESPN, but the 2022 first-round pick may nonetheless have slid to No. 4 on the depth chart following Boyd's arrival, with Calvin Ridley and DeAndre Hopkins entrenched as Will Levis' clear top targets. The 225-pound wideout could still certainly have untapped potential, as he's battled injuries throughout the first two years of his NFL career, but his path to consistent opportunities has grown murkier despite Tennessee most ignoring the WR position in April's draft. For fantasy purposes, at least, Burks' prospects for 2024 will look dim if he's not able to beat out Boyd for the No. 3 role in training camp. Callahan did, at least, say that Burks will earn opportunities to line up both inside and outside.

Evan Hull IND RB
Colts' Evan Hull: Healthy and vying for backup role
2h agoHull (knee) appears set to compete with Trey Sermon for the backup role behind starter Jonathan Taylor this offseason, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Hull is back to full health after a knee injury limited him to just one appearance as a rookie in 2023, per Paul Bretl of USA Today. After Zack Moss was able to thrive as the backup to Taylor in 2023, fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on which of Hull and Sermon managers to show out better in training camp and preseason action. Sermon could have a leg up to begin the competition, but as Boyd notes, he's totaled just 78 carries in his career and isn't significantly more established than Hull.

Ben Skowronek LAR WR
Texans' Ben Skowronek: Houston swoops in for trade
2h agoThe Rams have agreed to trade Skowronek, who was slated to be waived Thursday, to the Texans, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
Los Angeles informed Skowronek that he would hit waivers Thursday, but the Texans came calling before the transaction could become official. A 2021 seventh-round pick, Skowronek was mostly limited to special teams in 2023, but he racked up 376 receiving yards on 39 back in 2022, while demonstrating the versatility to line up across multiple formations. Now, Skowronek will face the challenge of competing with the likes of Robert Woods, John Metchie and Noah Brown (shoulder) for a depth role in Houston's crowded wide receiver corps.
-
Cedric Tillman CLE WR
Browns' Cedric Tillman: Could take step forward in Year 2
5h agoMary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer and Zac Jackson of The Athletic suggest that Tillman (concussion) is a candidate to take a step forward in his second season as a pro.
Per Cabot, the Browns figure to frequently employ Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore in three-receiver sets, but Tillman nonetheless should see his share of opportunities as the season progresses, especially if injuries hit the aforementioned trio. As a rookie, the 2023 third-round pick recorded a 21-224-0 line on 44 targets in 14 regular-season games, but if he's able to carve out steadier playing time in 2024, the 6-foot-3, 215-pounder -- who missed Cleveland's wild-card loss to the Texans with a concussion -- could emerge as a solid complementary option alongside the team's top pass catchers. Also in the mix for snaps in the Browns' WR corps are 2022 third-rounder David Bell and 2024 fifth-rounder Jamari Thrash.

Ben Skowronek LAR WR
Ben Skowronek: Time up with Rams
5h agoThe Rams are slated to waive Skowronek, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
Skowronek, a 2021 seventh-round pick, finished his third season with the Rams with a career-low 66 receiving yards across 17 appearances, while mostly contributing on special teams. The soon-to-be 27-year-old is versatile enough to line up in a variety of roles on offense, so it's a bit of a surprise to see him be cut before training camp. He figures to resurface in a depth role elsewhere in the league.

Allen Robinson PIT WR
Giants' Allen Robinson: Seeking rebound with Big Blue
7h agoRobinson signed a contract with the Giants on Thursday, ESPN.com reports.
Robinson was cut by the Steelers earlier this offseason in a move to save salary cap space, and he now gets an opportunity to reignite his career in New York, where there's a need for a big-bodied target for Daniel Jones (knee) while Darren Waller's future remains in flux. Malik Nabers, taken sixth overall in April's draft, figures to dominate the Giants' wide receiver opportunities out of the gate, while Darius Slayton (thumb) and Wan'Dale Robinson seem likely to also start in three-wide sets. Robinson racked up just 34 catches for 280 yards on 49 targets with Pittsburgh last season, despite suiting up for all 17 games, so he's no lock to beat out Jalin Hyatt for the No. 4 role this offseason.

Matthew Liberatore STL RP
Cardinals' Matthew Liberatore: Available in relief
3m agoCardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Thursday that Liberatore will be available out of the bullpen for the team's series this weekend in Milwaukee, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Liberatore remains a candidate to draw a start early next week, but he will sit with the relievers this weekend in case he's needed. The left-hander allowed one run over 3.2 innings in a spot start versus the White Sox in his last appearance and before that held a 2.76 ERA in 12 relief appearances.
-
Ty Blach COL RP
Rockies' Ty Blach: Returns to bullpen
7m agoBlach tossed three innings out of the bullpen in Tuesday's 5-0 loss to the Giants, giving up one earned run on four hits and one walk while striking out two.
Blach made a five-inning spot start for the Rockies in an April 24 loss to the Padres, but he's since moved into a long-relief role. After tossing four shutout innings behind starter Peter Lambert in a 5-4 loss to the Marlins on May 2, Blach was called upon to cover multiple frames once again Tuesday and pitched effectively.

Brayan Rocchio CLE SS
Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Elevated to leadoff spot
12m agoRocchio will start at shortstop and bat leadoff in Thursday's game versus the White Sox.
Rocchio hit second for the Guardians in a game a week ago, but this is just the second time all season that hasn't been in the No. 9 spot for the Guardians in a game he started. The rookie shortstop had a walk-off RBI single in Wednesday's win over the Tigers, which was his first RBI since April 23 and just his fifth of the season.
-
Ivan Herrera STL C
Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: Takes seat Thursday
18m agoHerrera isn't in the Cardinals' lineup for Thursday's game against the Brewers, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Herrera will get a day off Thursday after going 2-for-4 during Tuesday's game against the Mets. In his absence, Pedro Pages will pick up a start behind the plate and bat eighth.
-
Paul Goldschmidt STL 1B
Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Not in lineup Thursday
19m agoGoldschmidt is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Milwaukee.
Goldschmidt had been slated to sit out Wednesday versus the Mets before that game was rained out, and he is again absent from the lineup card a day later. The 36-year-old is hitless so far in six contests this month. Alec Burleson will fill in for Goldschmidt at first base Thursday.
-
Korey Lee CHW C
White Sox's Korey Lee: Gets Thursday off
22m agoLee isn't in the White Sox's lineup Thursday against the Guardians.
Lee will take a seat for the second game in a row Thursday despite recording a hit in three of his last four games. Martin Maldonado will start behind the plate instead and bat ninth.
-
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope DEN SG
Nuggets' Kentavious Caldwell-Pope: Questionable for Game 3
4m agoCaldwell-Pope is questionable for Friday's Game 3 matchup with Minnesota due to a right abdominal contusion.
KCP must have got popped in the mid-section during Game 2, and now he's in danger of missing Game 3. We'll have a better idea on his status based on his activity level at shootaround, but if he is forced to the sidelines, Christian Braun, Justin Holiday and Peyton Watson would be asked to pick up the slack.
-
Reggie Jackson DEN PG
Nuggets' Reggie Jackson: Deemed questionable Friday
4m agoJackson is listed as questionable for Friday's Game 3 against the Timberwolves due to a left calf contusion.
Jackson is in danger of missing Friday's contest after suffering a left calf injury in Game 2. If Jackson is unable to suit up, Christian Braun and Justin Holiday are candidates to receive increased playing time.
-
Jamal Murray DEN PG
Nuggets' Jamal Murray: Iffy for Game 3
7m agoMurray (calf) is listed as questionable for Friday's Game 3 against Minnesota.
Murray has been dealing with a left calf strain since the end of Denver's first-round series against Denver. However, Murray has yet to miss a game due to it and is averaging 35.0 minutes per contest across the first two games of the Nuggets' series against the Timberwolves.
-
Patrick Beverley MIL PG
Bucks' Patrick Beverley: Handed four-game suspension
3h agoThe NBA announced Thursday that Beverley has been suspended four games "for forcefully throwing a basketball multiple tames at spectators and an inappropriate interaction with a reporter during media availability" after Milwaukee's 120-98 loss to Indiana in Game 6 of their first-round playoff series May 2.
The Bucks were eliminated from the playoffs with the Game 6 loss, so Beverley's suspension will go into effect for the first four games of the 2024-25 season. Beverley is an unrestricted free agent going into this offseason, so it is unclear which team he will be on when serving his suspension.
-
Jarrett Allen CLE C
Cavaliers' Jarrett Allen: Doesn't participate in shootaround
3h agoAllen (ribs), who is listed as questionable, did not participate in morning shootaround in advance of Thursday's Game 2 against the Celtics, Bobby Manning of CLNS Media reports.
Allen's rib injury has cost him four consecutive games, and it appears a fifth is on the horizon. We may not get official confirmation on the center's status until closer to tipoff, but his lack of participation in shootaround is a discouraging sign. If he remains out, Evan Mobley should continue serving as the Cavaliers' center while Max Strus and Isaac Okoro play the two forward spots.
-
Miles McBride NY PG
Knicks' Miles McBride: Passive performance Wednesday
16h agoMcBride amassed four points (1-4 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and one assist across 20 minutes during Wednesday's 130-121 victory over the Pacers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
McBride managed just four points in the win, struggling to find any real rhythm on the offensive end. Although his role has been somewhat limited to this point, OG Anunoby (hamstring) going down could open up an interesting opportunity. Should Anunoby be forced to miss time, look for McBride to potentially slide into the starting lineup for Game 3.
-
Carson Soucy VAN D
Canucks' Carson Soucy: Gets two helpers in victory
1h agoSoucy collected two assists in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over Edmonton in Game 1.
The Canucks were down 4-1 after Zach Hyman scored at 13:11 of the second period, but Soucy helped out on the next two markers to get the comeback started. Although the 29-year-old Soucy was noteworthy offensively against the Oilers, that's a rare occurrence for him. He had just six points (two goals) in 40 regular-season contests in 2023-24, and his last multi-point effort came Nov. 2 when Vancouver earned a 10-1 victory over San Jose. He has three assists in seven playoff outings this year.
-
Leon Draisaitl EDM C
Oilers' Leon Draisaitl: Grabs two helpers
1h agoDraisaitl recorded a pair of assists in a 5-4 Game 1 loss to Vancouver on Wednesday. According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, Draisaitl was dealing with cramps in the second period before returning in the third.
Draisaitl managed just 16:43 of ice time due to his cramping issue, his fewest minutes during a game in the postseason. Still, the world-class center has registered at least a point in all six playoff contests, racking up a combined five goals and seven helpers, including eight power-play points. At this point, there is no reason to think Draisaitl won't be ready for Game 2 on Friday since he was able to return for the third period.
-
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins EDM C
Oilers' Ryan Nugent-Hopkins: Picks up two assists in Game 1
2h agoNugent-Hopkins registered two assists in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to Vancouver in Game 1.
Nugent-Hopkins earned his third multi-point showing in the span of four contests. He's up to a goal and eight points in six playoff appearances this year. Nugent-Hopkins should continue to serve in a top-six capacity and on the Oilers' first power-play unit. His position with the man advantage is of particular importance to his production -- four of his eight points in the postseason have been recorded on the power play, including one of his assists in the series opener.
-
Jonathan Drouin COL LW
Avalanche's Jonathan Drouin: No timetable for return
3h agoDrouin is making progress in his recovery from a lower-body injury, but there's still no timetable for his return, Kyle Fredrickson of The Denver Gazette reports Thursday.
Drouin recorded 19 goals and 56 points in 79 regular-season outings in 2023-24. However, he hasn't been available in the playoffs due to the injury. When Drouin is healthy, he will probably serve in a top-six capacity.
-
Joel Kiviranta COL LW
Avalanche's Joel Kiviranta: Game-time call Thursday
3h agoKiviranta (lower body) will be a game-time decision for Thursday's Game 2 against Dallas, according to Kyle Fredrickson of The Denver Gazette.
Kiviranta has missed the Avalanche's past three contests due to the injury. He had three goals and nine points in 56 regular-season outings in 2023-24. Kiviranta has also registered an assist in three playoff appearances this year.
-
Brett Pesce CAR D
Hurricanes' Brett Pesce: Out indefinitely
3h agoPesce (lower body) has yet to resume skating and is out indefinitely as a result, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports Thursday.
Pesce didn't make the trip with the team to New York and could now be in danger of missing the remainder of the best-of-seven series with the Rangers. Without Pesce in the squad, Tony DeAngelo figures to see the biggest uptick in ice time, including minutes with the man advantage. Prior to getting hurt, Pesce was stuck in a 38-game goal drought during which he notched just seven helpers, so fantasy players shouldn't be expecting a ton of offensive output from the defenseman even once cleared to play.
