Markus Bailey CIN LB
Cardinals' Markus Bailey: Inks deal with Arizona
14h agoBailey agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Cardinals on Tuesday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
After four years in Cincinnati, Bailey will get a fresh start in Arizona. The 27-year-old accumulated 73 tackles (46 solo) across 60 games with the Bengals, primarily as a depth linebacker and special teams contributor. He will now look to impress in OTAs and carve out a role for himself with his new team.

Shakel Brown TEN DT
Shakel Brown: Let go by Tennessee
16h agoBrown (ankle) was waived by the Titans on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Brown spent all last season on IR, but he was waived without an injury designation, so he should be considered healthy moving forward. The 25-year-old was an undrafted free agent out of Troy in 2023 and was working to earn a spot on the Titans roster when he suffered the injury in a preseason contest.

Ryan Swoboda ATL OL
Ryan Swoboda: Gets cut loose
16h agoSwoboda (undisclosed) was waived by the Falcons with an injury designation Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Swoboda will revert to injured reserve if he goes unclaimed. At that point, he'll be forced to miss the entirety of the 2024 campaign unless he can reach an injury settlement with Atlanta.
-
Kyle Peko DET NT
Lions' Kyle Peko: Finds new home
17h agoPeko (calf) signed a contract with the Lions on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Peko finished last season on injured reserve after competing in 13 games and recording 22 combined tackles. Now healthy again, the veteran lineman will get an opportunity in Detroit for his seventh NFL season. The Oregon State product will also have the chance to reunite with his defensive line coach from the Titans, Terrell Williams, who holds the same position now with the Lions.

Nathan Rourke NYG QB
Giants' Nathan Rourke: Claimed on waivers
17h agoThe Giants have claimed Rourke off waivers from the Patriots, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
After being waived by the Patriots on Monday, Rourke was quickly scooped up by the Giants. The 25-year-old is thus slated to add depth to a New York QB corps that also includes Daniel Jones, who is bouncing back from a torn ACL, as well as Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito.
-
Joe Burrow CIN QB
Bengals' Joe Burrow: Continues to progress
18h agoBurrow (wrist), who has resumed throwing, indicated Tuesday that he's fully cleared to do everything that doesn't involve contact, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Burrow, who is bouncing back from a procedure to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist, started throwing again in April, noting that at this stage his focus is on mechanics like his footwork and arm path, as well as the "little intricacies of the throwing motion." While it remains to be seen when he'll be cleared for contact, Ben Baby of ESPN relays that the Bengals' franchise signal-caller feels as though he's "in a good spot" in his recovery process, and there's nothing to suggest that Burrow won't be ready to go well ahead of Week 1.
-
Ryan Pepiot TB SP
Rays' Ryan Pepiot: Likely to be placed on IL
9m agoRays manager Kevin Cash said Tuesday that the Rays are "likely" to place Pepiot on the 15-day injured list after the right-hander took a 107.5 mile-per-hour line drive off his left leg in Sunday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Mets, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
He'll likely be replaced in the Tampa Bay rotation by Taj Bradley (pectoral), who is on track to return from the IL to start this weekend against the Yankees. Pepiot isn't dealing with any structural damage to his leg after both an X-ray and CT scan came back negative, so he could be ready to return from the IL in the minimum 15 days once any lingering pain and soreness subsides. Over his seven starts this season, Pepiot has gone 3-2 with a 3.68 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 41:11 K:BB across 36.2 innings.
-
Paul Goldschmidt STL 1B
Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Sitting out multiple games possible
21m agoCardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Tuesday that the team has considered sitting Goldschmidt for a few games as the first baseman works on his swing, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
It doesn't sound like anything has been decided on Goldschmidt, with Marmol noting the club is "evaluating everything in order to get him right." In six games so far in May, Goldschmidt is 0-for-23 with a 10:3 K:BB. He's slashing just .196/.287/.263 on the season with a 30.9 percent strikeout rate. If the Cards do elect to give Goldschmidt a little break, Alec Burleson would likely handle first base.
-
Justin Slaten BOS RP
Red Sox's Justin Slaten: Takes first loss
1h agoSlaten (2-1) was tagged with Tuesday's loss, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk while striking out one in a 4-2 loss to Atlanta.
Slaten has pitched well out of the bullpen, allowing just two runs over his first 19 innings, but the heart of Atlanta's order got to him for that many in the eighth inning. Ozzie Albies worked hi for a six-pitch walk to lead off the inning -- just the third walk allowed -- then Austin Riley and Marcell Ozuna followed with hits. Slaten has a 1.80 ERA and 0.80 WHIP over 20 innings.
-
Greg Weissert BOS RP
Red Sox's Greg Weissert: Extends scoreless run
1h agoWeissert retired the lone batter faced in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to Atlanta.
Weissert stranded a runner when he got Ronald Acuna on a force out to end the seventh inning. It was the eighth consecutive scoreless outing for Weissert, who has excelled as part a bullpen that ranks eighth in the majors with a 3.38 ERA. The right-hander sports a 1.17 ERA and 0.91 WHIP with 16 strikeouts and three walks over 15.1 innings.
-
Jarren Duran BOS CF
Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Logs two hits in loss
1h agoDuran went 2-for-5 with a double and a triple in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to Atlanta.
Duran's line Tuesday was similar to his previous game Sunday, when he logged a double and triple in a win over the Twins, only he didn't score against Atlanta. That's partially due to Boston's woeful 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position (13 LOB). Duran's done a good job of not letting any slumps linger -- the bane of his first two seasons in the majors -- and is batting .267/.339/.420 over 168 plate appearances. Tuesday's triple, his sixth, vaulted him to the top of MLB.
-
Dakota Hudson COL SP
Rockies' Dakota Hudson: Struggles with command in loss
2h agoHudson (0-6) took the loss Tuesday against the Giants, allowing four runs on five hits and five walks while striking out two over 3.2 innings.
Hudson was all over the place Tuesday night, tying his season-high in walks while needing 95 pitches to complete 11 outs. The 29-year-old found a way to keep the Giants off the board for three innings before being tagged with four runs in the fourth. Hudson has given up at least four runs in four of his last five starts and is struggling to a 6.35 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 20:22 K:BB in 34 innings. He lines up for a daunting matchup at home against the Rangers over the weekend.
-
Aaron Wiggins OKC SG
Thunder's Aaron Wiggins: Pops for 16 points Tuesday
8h agoWiggins logged 16 points (5-7 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 23 minutes during Tuesday's 117-95 victory over the Mavericks in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Wiggins had his best game of the playoffs, scoring 16 points including three triples. Given he scored a combined 23 points in the first-round series against the Pelicans, outbursts like this shouldn't be expected moving forward. With that said, he should continue to play a meaningful role off the bench, starting with Game 2 which will take place Thursday.
-
Chet Holmgren OKC C
Thunder's Chet Holmgren: As advertised in Game 1 win
8h agoHolmgren totaled 19 points (8-16 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven rebounds, one assist, three blocks and two steals over 31 minutes during Tuesday's 117-95 victory over the Mavericks in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Holmgren produced on both ends of the floor, scoring 19 points to go with five combined steals and blocks. After a stellar rookie season, Holmgren is looking to cement himself as an elite center despite his age. The Thunder will be hoping for a repeat performance Thursday before heading back to Dallas for games 3 and 4.
-
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander OKC SG
Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Flirts with triple-double Tuesday
8h agoGilgeous-Alexander finished with 29 points (8-19 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 11-13 FT), nine rebounds, nine assists, two blocks and one steal over 37 minutes during Tuesday's 117-95 win over Dallas in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Gilgeous-Alexander fell agonizingly short of his first career playoff triple-double, guiding the Thunder to an emphatic Game 1 victory. While this was a close contest for the first three quarters, Oklahoma City took over late, led by the MVP candidate. He will look to build on this performance when the two teams clash again Thursday.
-
AJ Lawson DAL SG
Mavericks' A.J. Lawson: Closes Game 1 loss
8h agoLawson closed with three points (1-2 FG, 1-2 3Pt) and one rebound in five minutes during Tuesday's 117-95 loss to Oklahoma City in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Lawson played five minutes of garbage time as the Mavericks were dismantled by the Thunder down the stretch. Dallas will be hoping to reverse the result in Game 2, hoping to head home with the series locked at 1-1.
-
Tim Hardaway Jr. DAL SG
Mavericks' Tim Hardaway: Struggles in return
8h agoHardaway posted two points (1-5 FG, 0-4 3Pt) and two rebounds over 17 minutes during Tuesday's 117-95 loss to Oklahoma City in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Hardaway returned to action following a four-game absence as a result of an ankle injury. While he does, in theory, provide Dallas with another scoring option off the bench, that was not the case here. If they are to trouble the Thunder, Hardaway is going to need to be more of a reliable threat.
-
Daniel Gafford DAL C
Mavericks' Daniel Gafford: Strong performance in loss
8h agoGafford totaled 16 points (5-12 FG, 6-8 FT), 11 rebounds, one assist and five blocks across 27 minutes during Tuesday's 117-95 loss to the Thunder in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Gafford recorded a double-double in the loss, adding five blocks. It was arguably his best performance of the postseason and something the Mavericks are going to need more of should they hope to advance to the Conference Finals. Despite the loss, the scoreline does not reflect the fact that the Mavericks kept this close for three quarters.
-
Mika Zibanejad NYR C
Rangers' Mika Zibanejad: Assist on game-winner
7h agoZibanejad had the primary assist on Vincent Trocheck's game-winning goal in Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime win over Carolina in Game 2.
Zibanejad threw a shot towards the net during the second overtime that popped out to Vincent Trocheck for the game-winner. In addition to the assist, Zibanejad recorded six shots on net, two hits and a minus-2 rating in the tilt. He already has four points (two goals) in two contests this series. The first-line center is up to 11 points in the playoffs -- just one behind superstar center Connor McDavid.
-
Alex Wennberg NYR C
Rangers' Alexander Wennberg: Chipping in offense
7h agoWennberg produced a secondary assist in Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime win over Carolina in Game 2.
Wennberg helped out on Alexis Lafreniere's goal in the first period. It was the first point in six playoff contests this year for the 29-year-old Wennberg, who is relied upon for depth, not primary scoring. He's been serving as the Rangers' third-line center between Will Cuylle and Kaapo Kakko.
-
Vincent Trocheck NYR C
Rangers' Vincent Trocheck: Nets game-winning goal
7h agoTrocheck scored the game-winning goal in Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime win over Carolina in Game 2.
Trocheck was able to find a rebound in front of Frederik Andersen before he buried the puck five-hole to win the contest for New York. Trocheck also registered a primary assist on Chris Kreider's third-period tally to go along with six shots on goal, one blocked shot and three hits. Furthermore, the 30-year-old Trocheck skated the most of any player on either team in Tuesday's tilt with a whopping 35:21 of ice time. He's up to five goals and five assists in six appearances this postseason.
-
Brady Skjei CAR D
Hurricanes' Brady Skjei: Records assist Tuesday
8h agoSkjei notched an even-strength assist in Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime loss to the Rangers in Game 2.
Skjei assisted on Dmitry Orlov's late first-period tally to give Carolina a 2-1 lead heading into the second frame. As Orlov skated towards the front of the net from the corner, Skjei floated a shot from the point that was redirected past Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin. However, the 30-year-old Skjei ultimately took a penalty in overtime that New York took advantage of to win the game. Look for Skjei to rebound with a strong effort in Game 3 on Thursday.
-
Sebastian Aho CAR LW
Hurricanes' Sebastian Aho: Gets three helpers in loss
8h agoAho registered three assists in Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime loss to the Rangers in Game 2.
Aho had a hand in all three of his team's goals to go along with seven shots on net, a plus-2 rating, three hits and 30:18 of ice time. That gives Aho five assists in two contests this series, yet the Hurricanes head back to Carolina down 2-0 against New York. The Hurricanes will need Aho to be at his best once again come Game 3 on Thursday if they have any chance of avoiding a three-game deficit. Overall this postseason, the Finnish center has two goals and six assists in seven outings to go along with a plus-3 rating.
-
Jake Guentzel CAR C
Hurricanes' Jake Guentzel: Two goals in loss
8h agoGuentzel potted two goals on five shots in Tuesday's 4-3 double-overtime loss to the Rangers in Game 2.
Guentzel was set up on both goals by Sebastian Aho, but it wasn't enough to lift Carolina over New York. Guentzel's two markers were complemented by a plus-2 rating and 26:39 of ice time. The 29-year-old has done his part since coming over in a trade from Pittsburgh -- in 17 regular-season outings, Guentzel racked up 25 points. In the postseason, he has seven points in as many games. The Hurricanes will need the star forward to make further contributions in order to get back into this series.
