Sam Darnold MIN QB
Vikings' Sam Darnold: Vikings won't rush to name starting QB
11h agoThe Vikings could begin the season with Darnold as the team's starting quarterback despite taking J.J. McCarthy with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, ESPN reports. "We're not going to rush his development," said general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. "We're just going to do what's best for the Vikings in the short and long term."
Darnold signed a one-year, $10 million contract with the Vikings as a short-term veteran starter or backup. It's hard to handicap when McCarthy may take over the starting job this soon after the draft, but it's notable the Vikings are trying to reduce expectations. Expect the quarterback battle for the Week 1 starting job to commence this summer. Still, odds are Darnold will only be the starter for a few weeks at most if McCarthy is healthy and making progress.

Trey Knox 2005 TE
Vikings' Trey Knox: Lands in Minnesota
14h agoKnox signed with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent Saturday.
After four years at Arkansas, Knox transferred to South Carolina for his fifth-year senior season. He compiled a 37-312-2 receiving line for the Gamecocks. Lideatrick Griffin 2005 WR
Raiders' Lideatrick Griffin: Signs with Silver and Black
14h agoGriffin signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent Saturday.
"Tulu" stands at 5-foot-10 and 181 pounds and ran a 4.43 forty at the combine after leading Mississippi State in receiving with a 50-658-4 line as a senior. His main selling point for the Raiders could be his returner skills after he showed some electricity with the ball in his hands during college.
-
Carter Bradley 2005 QB
Raiders' Carter Bradley: Finds work with Las Vegas
14h agoThe Raiders signed Bradley as an undrafted free agent Saturday.
Bradley has good size at 6-foot-3 and 213 pounds and spent the final two years of his college career at South Alabama following four years in Toledo's program. He threw for 5,996 yards at South Alabama, amassing 47 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. In Las Vegas, Bradley slides in at the bottom of the depth chart behind Gardner Minshew, Aidan O'Connell and Anthony Brown.

Daijun Edwards 2005 RB
Steelers' Daijun Edwards: Inks deal with Pittsburgh
15h agoThe Steelers signed Edwards as an undrafted free agent Saturday.
Edwards was just a one-year starter at Georgia and overall functioned as part of a backfield committee. He concluded his four-year collegiate career with a 391-2,082-24 rushing line. Edwards is strong in pass-protection and joins a Pittsburgh backfield that is led by Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren and newcomer Cordarrelle Patterson.

Ben Rortvedt TB C
Rays' Ben Rortvedt: Resting for day game
2m agoRortvedt is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The lefty-hitting Rortvedt looks to have secured the large side of a platoon at catcher with the righty-hitting Rene Pinto, but Rortvedt will give way to Pinto against White Sox right-hander Erick Fedde as Tampa Bay wraps up its series in Chicago. Rortvedt's absence from the lineup is likely just for maintenance purposes in the day game, as he caught all 10 innings of Saturday's 8-7 loss while going 3-for-3 with two walks, one stolen base and two runs.
-
Jose Caballero TB SS
Rays' Jose Caballero: Out of Sunday's lineup
2m agoCaballero is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Caballero will head to the bench Sunday after he posted a .217/.250/.370 slash line and 26.5 percent strikeout rate while starting the previous 12 games. Amed Rosario will shift to shortstop and bat third.
-
Austin Wells NYY C
Yankees' Austin Wells: Not in Sunday's lineup
7m agoWells is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Milwaukee.
Wells went 2-for-6 with a double, a run and two walks in the first two games of the series and will take a seat for the finale. Jose Trevino will step in behind the plate to catch for righty Marcus Stroman.
-
Jesus Sanchez MIA RF
Marlins' Jesus Sanchez: Resting against lefty
10m agoSanchez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.
The lefty-hitting Sanchez is on the bench for the second game in a row while the Marlins face off against another left-handed starting pitcher (Patrick Corbin). With short-side platoon mate Avisail Garcia (hamstring) landing on the injured list Sunday, the newly recalled Dane Myers will replace Sanchez in right field.
-
Nick Gordon MIA LF
Marlins' Nick Gordon: On bench against lefty
11m agoGordon is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.
The lefty-hitting Gordon will stay on the bench for the second game in a row while the Marlins face another southpaw (Patrick Corbin) on Sunday. Bryan De La Cruz will step in for Gordon in left field and will bat second.
-
Vidal Brujan MIA 2B
Marlins' Vidal Brujan: Draws third straight start
13m agoBrujan will start at third base and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Nationals.
Brujan will make his third consecutive start at third base and appears set to get an extended look at the position while Jake Burger (oblique) is on the injured list. Over 33 plate appearances this season, Brujan has hit .200 with zero home runs or stolen bases, one RBI and three runs. His fantasy appeal could remain largely limited to NL-only leagues for the duration of Burger's absence.

Mitchell Robinson NY C
Knicks' Mitchell Robinson: Won't play Sunday
5m agoRobinson (ankle) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's Game 4 against the 76ers, Derek Bodner of AllPHLY.com reports.
Robinson sprained his surgically repaired left ankle during Thursday's Game 3 loss, didn't practice Saturday and was listed as questionable for Game 4. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN said the big man was warming up with the intention of playing Sunday, but Robinson ultimately didn't get the green light. In his absence, Precious Achiuwa should be the primary backup behind Isaiah Hartenstein, and Jericho Sims may crack the postseason rotation for the first time.

Mitchell Robinson NY C
Knicks' Mitchell Robinson: Intends to play Sunday
1h agoRobinson (ankle), who's officially listed as questionable, is warming up with the intention of playing in Sunday's Game 4 against the 76ers, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Robinson sprained his surgically repaired left ankle during Thursday's Game 3 loss and didn't practice Saturday while sporting a walking boot. However, it seems those measures were merely precautionary, as the big man is expected to suit up in Game 4, barring a setback during warmups. After posting eight points, 12 rebounds and four blocks in 30 minutes during a Game 1 victory, Robinson was limited to 30 total minutes over the next two matchups and complied three points and 11 boards during those contests.

Damian Lillard MIL PG
Bucks' Damian Lillard: Ruled out for Game 4
1h agoLillard (Achilles) has been ruled out for Sunday's Game 4 against the Pacers.
As expected, Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf) have been downgraded from doubtful to out. Khris Middleton (ankle) remains probable. Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, Lillard had been playing through soreness in his Achilles over the last few weeks and aggravated the issue during the Bucks' Game 3 loss on Friday. Malik Beasley, Andre Jackson and AJ Green are all candidates for increased roles in Lillard's absence.
-
Giannis Antetokounmpo MIL PF
Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo: Downgraded to out
1h agoAntetokounmpo (calf) has been ruled out for Sunday's Game 4 against the Pacers.
As expected, Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard (Achilles) have both been downgraded from doubtful to out. Khris Middleton (ankle) remains probable. Bobby Portis should continue to start for Antetokounmpo and will need to play an even larger role on offense due to Lillard missing his first game of the postseason. Antetokounmpo has yet to progress to team drills, but his next chance to suit up will come during Game 5 on Tuesday.

Moe Wagner ORL C
Magic's Moritz Wagner: Modest production continues
1h agoWagner ended with seven points (2-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 15 minutes during Saturday's 112-89 victory over Cleveland in Game 4 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Wagner has averaged 7.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 16.8 minutes through the first four games of the opening-round series against the Cavaliers. The Magic's rotation was basically cut to nine players Saturday, with Wagner, Cole Anthony, Markelle Fultz and Jonathan Isaac all playing at least 15 minutes off the bench.
-
Cole Anthony ORL PG
Magic's Cole Anthony: Another poor outing
1h agoAnthony produced three points (1-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound, three assists and one steal over 15 minutes during Saturday's 112-89 win over the Cavaliers in Game 4 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Aside from a 10-point outing in Game 3, Anthony has scored only seven points (1-15 FG) during the postseason thus far. He averaged 11.5 points on 43.5 percent shooting during the regular season.
-
Brenden Dillon WPG D
Jets' Brenden Dillon: Out Sunday
20m agoDillon (hand) won't play Sunday against the Avalanche, Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site reports.
While Dillon has been ruled out for Game 4, there's a chance he could return Tuesday when the Jets return home for Game 5. Still, it's a tough blow for Winnipeg -- the veteran blueliner had three assists through the first three games of the series. Logan Stanley is expected to work on the second pairing in Dillon's absence.

Vincent Iorio WAS D
Capitals' Vincent Iorio: Won't play Sunday
1h agoIorio (upper body) won't play Sunday in Game 4 against the Rangers, per Tom Gulitti of NHL.com.
Iorio stayed out late with Washington's expected scratches after participating in the morning skate in a non-contact capacity. He will miss his third straight outing due to an injury he sustained in the team's playoff opener last Sunday. However, the Capitals will get some reinforcements on the blue line because Rasmus Sandin (upper body) and Nick Jensen (upper body) are set to return to the lineup.
-
Nick Jensen WAS D
Capitals' Nick Jensen: Probable for Game 4
1h agoJensen (upper body) will be a game-time call, but he's trending towards playing Sunday against the Rangers, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Jensen has yet to suit up in the series after missing Washington's final two regular-season games with an upper-body injury. Jensen's return would provide an important boost to the Caps' defensive corps, with Trevor van Riemsdyk (upper body) ruled out. The 33-year-old Jensen had a goal, 14 points and 123 blocked shots in 78 games this year.
-
Rasmus Sandin WAS D
Capitals' Rasmus Sandin: Ready to rock
1h agoSandin (upper body) will return to action Sunday in Game 4 against the Rangers, according to Tom Gulitti of NHL.com.
Sandin will be back in the lineup after missing the final five games of the regular season and the first three contests of the playoffs. He registered three goals, 23 points, 79 shots on net, 106 blocked shots and 75 hits in 68 appearances during the 2023-24 campaign. Sandin will replace Trevor van Riemsdyk (upper body) in Sunday's must-win matchup.
-
Charlie Lindgren WAS G
Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: First off ahead of Game 4
2h agoLindgren was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, Tarik El-Bashir of Monumental Sports Network reports, indicating he will patrol the home crease Sunday in Game 4 versus the Rangers.
Lindgren has lost three straight outings in the postseason, surrendering 11 goals on 81 shots for an .864 save percentage. The Capitals need a victory in Game 4 to avoid being swept in the first round by the Rangers.
-
Brandon Montour FLA D
Panthers' Brandon Montour: Heating up in playoffs
3h agoMontour registered an assist and four blocked shots versus the Lightning in Game 4 on Saturday, but it wasn't enough, as the Panthers suffered a 6-3 loss.
After being held without a point in the first two games of the conference quarterfinals, Montour stacked a goal and two helpers between Game 3 and Game 4. The eighth-year defenseman has always had a high ceiling in terms of offensive potential, but there had been a fair number of detractors until Montour's eye-popping 73-point campaign surfaced in 2022-23. He had offseason shoulder surgery and missed the first 16 games of the recently completed regular season, leveling back down to a half-point-per game average. In this playoff series, Montour is averaging 23:26 of ice time with 2:27 on the man advantage. The Panthers will have another crack at eliminating the Lightning in Game 5 on Monday, this time on home ice.
