12h agoThe Vikings could begin the season with Darnold as the team's starting quarterback despite taking J.J. McCarthy with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, ESPN reports. "We're not going to rush his development," said general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. "We're just going to do what's best for the Vikings in the short and long term."
Darnold signed a one-year, $10 million contract with the Vikings as a short-term veteran starter or backup. It's hard to handicap when McCarthy may take over the starting job this soon after the draft, but it's notable the Vikings are trying to reduce expectations. Expect the quarterback battle for the Week 1 starting job to commence this summer. Still, odds are Darnold will only be the starter for a few weeks at most if McCarthy is healthy and making progress.

After four years at Arkansas, Knox transferred to South Carolina for his fifth-year senior season. He compiled a 37-312-2 receiving line for the Gamecocks. He switched positions from wide receiver to tight end in 2021. Knox joins a tight end room that includes T.J. Hockenson, Josh Oliver, Johnny Mundt and Nick Muse in Minnesota.

"Tulu" stands at 5-foot-10 and 181 pounds and ran a 4.43 forty at the combine after leading Mississippi State in receiving with a 50-658-4 line as a senior. His main selling point for the Raiders could be his returner skills after he showed some electricity with the ball in his hands during college.

Bradley has good size at 6-foot-3 and 213 pounds and spent the final two years of his college career at South Alabama following four years in Toledo's program. He threw for 5,996 yards at South Alabama, amassing 47 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. In Las Vegas, Bradley slides in at the bottom of the depth chart behind Gardner Minshew, Aidan O'Connell and Anthony Brown.

Edwards was just a one-year starter at Georgia and overall functioned as part of a backfield committee. He concluded his four-year collegiate career with a 391-2,082-24 rushing line. Edwards is strong in pass-protection and joins a Pittsburgh backfield that is led by Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren and newcomer Cordarrelle Patterson.

Watson spent five years at Old Dominion before transferring to Memphis for his super-senior season. He led the Tigers in rushing with 192-1,152-14 on the ground and added 53-480-3 as a receiver, earning All-AAC honors. Watson joins a crowded Denver backfield depth chart that includes Javonte Williams, Samaje Perine, Jaleel McLaughlin and fifth-round rookie Audric Estime.

Thanks to both Jonathan Indian and Jake Fraley recently missing multiple games due to illness, Espinal has held down a regular spot in the Cincinnati infield. He started each of the last 11 games, going 7-for-34 (.206 average) with a home run and a stolen base. Now that India and Fraley are both back to full strength, Espinal is expected to move into more of a part-time role.

Spencer Steer will get a day out of the outfield and fill in at first base for Encarnacion-Strand, who has seen his season-long batting average dip below the Mendoza Line (.196) while going 1-for-14 with five strikeouts over his last four starts.

After starter Casey Mize allowed three runs (two earned) over five innings, Faedo worked the sixth and seventh, and he continued to pitch well. The righty has a strong 2.55 ERA across 17.2 innings this season, and he's emerged as a capable long reliever for the Tigers. The role limits Faedo's upside, though he may be able to earn a few more wins here and there.

36m agoLittle allowed five runs on three hits and a walk while retiring just two batters in Saturday's 17-0 loss to the Red Sox.
Chicago starter Ben Brown allowed three runs over just 3.2 innings, then gave way to Little, who struggled mightily. The lefty's era went from 2.16 to 7.00 in the process, and it may take Little some time to get that figure back into a more acceptable range. He's not a great fantasy target at the moment due to his middle-relief role.

5m agoBogdanovic suffered an apparent ankle injury with 11:41 remaining in the second quarter and limped to the locker room, Tim Bontemps of ESPN.com reports.
76ers Nicolas Batum dove after a loose ball and made contact with Bogdanovic's ankle, and the latter remained on the floor for a while before limping straight to the locker room. The sharpshooter has also been playing through left wrist ligament damage. Bogdanovic didn't accumulate any counting stats in his minute of playing time before suffering the injury.

Rozier will miss a 10th straight game due to a neck strain. Coach Erik Spoelstra said Sunday morning that he doesn't know if Rozier will play in the opening-round series. "[Rozier] is day-to-day. When it changes, I'll let you know," Spoelstra added, per Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. Delon Wright (personal) is probable after missing Saturday's Game 3 loss and should help soak up some of Rozier's missing minutes.

Robinson sprained his surgically repaired left ankle during Thursday's Game 3 loss, didn't practice Saturday and was listed as questionable for Game 4. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN said the big man was warming up with the intention of playing Sunday, but Robinson ultimately didn't get the green light. In his absence, Precious Achiuwa should be the primary backup behind Isaiah Hartenstein, and Jericho Sims may crack the postseason rotation for the first time.

2h agoRobinson (ankle), who's officially listed as questionable, is warming up with the intention of playing in Sunday's Game 4 against the 76ers, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Robinson sprained his surgically repaired left ankle during Thursday's Game 3 loss and didn't practice Saturday while sporting a walking boot. However, it seems those measures were merely precautionary, as the big man is expected to suit up in Game 4, barring a setback during warmups. After posting eight points, 12 rebounds and four blocks in 30 minutes during a Game 1 victory, Robinson was limited to 30 total minutes over the next two matchups and complied three points and 11 boards during those contests.

Sandin will be back in the lineup after missing the final five games of the regular season and the first three contests of the playoffs. He registered three goals, 23 points, 79 shots on net, 106 blocked shots and 75 hits in 68 appearances during the 2023-24 campaign. Sandin will replace Trevor van Riemsdyk (upper body) in Sunday's must-win matchup.
