Daxton Hill CIN DBBengals' Dax Hill: Operating as cornerback in 2024
32m agoHill is expected to be a part of the Bengals' cornerback room in 2024, Jay Morrison of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
Hill spent his sophomore campaign operating as a starting safety for the Bengals, recording 110 tackles, including 1.5 sacks, while also intercepting two passes and deflecting 11 others over 17 contests. Head coach Zac Taylor said Sunday that Hill will "be in the cornerback room" this year, which could mean a position change is in store. The team signed former Raven Geno Stone this offseason and could replace Hill at safety in 2024.

Wiley wasn't selected during the 2024 NFL Draft but will have a chance to compete for a role with Washington during offseason activities. He sustained a thumb injury during the Senior Bowl in March, and it's unclear when he'll be back to full health.

2h agoJanke is slated to sign with the Texans as an unrestricted free agent Sunday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 reports.
Janke showed improvement over each of his four seasons at South Dakota State, and he tallied 57 receptions for 946 yards and 10 touchdowns while rushing twice for 11 yards and a touchdown in 2023. He'll attempt to make his mark during offseason activities with Houston.

2h agoBecton and the Eagles have agreed on a one-year, $5.5 million contract, pending a physical Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Becton appears to be set to join the Eagles after starting 16 games with the Jets in 2023. The offensive tackle has dealt with multiple significant lower-body injuries in his four-year NFL career, limiting his time on the field, and he'll look to carve out a consistent role with Philadelphia.

Steele began his collegiate career by playing two seasons at Ball State, but he joined UCLA for the 2023 campaign. His production declined with the Bruins, but he still rushed 167 times for 847 yards and six touchdowns while tallying 17 receptions for 163 yards and two touchdowns during his year at UCLA. He'll now spend time with Kansas City during offseason activities.

Marte's two-out double in the eight plated Kevin Newman with the winning run. It was the second consecutive game that Marte has hit out of the three-hole, as manager Torey Lovullo made recent changes to accommodate for Corbin Carroll's slow start. Marte had been the team's primary leadoff hitter.

Rogers' sixth-inning two-out blast spelled the end of the day for Kansas City starter Michael Wacha and provided the winning margin for the Tigers. It was just the second multi-hit game for Rogers, who raised his season average to .164 with two homers and three RBI.

20m agoPerez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run during Sunday's 4-1 victory over the Royals.
Perez' first career dinger came in the first inning off Kansas City starter Michael Wacha and represented what turned out to be the game-winning blast for the Tigers. The rookie outfielder has started four of the past five games for the Tigers and has found himself consistently toward the top of the lineup, hitting in the three hole for the third consecutive start. Through 35 at-bats, Perez has 10 hits including one double, two triples and a home run with five RBI and four runs scored.

Astros' Joey Loperfido: Set for major-league debut
20m agoLoperfido is expected to be called up from Triple-A Sugar Land by the Astros ahead of their series with Cleveland beginning Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Loperfido has been on a tear at Triple-A, batting .287 with 13 home runs, 27 RBI, 31 runs scored and five stolen bases over 101 at-bats in 25 games so far this season. He's played both first base and outfield, giving him a better shot of sticking around the majors if he hits the ground running.

39m agoTurnbull will start Tuesday's game against the Angels, with Zack Wheeler getting moved back a day and Aaron Nola moved back to Friday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Manager Rob Thomson said that he wanted to give Wheeler and Nola the extra rest days, and that he's not inclined to go with a six-man rotation. However, this buys him another start to compare Turnbull against Taijuan Walker and allows us to use Turnbull for another week.

Marcus Stroman NYY SPYankees' Marcus Stroman: Struggles in Milwaukee
1h agoStroman pitched four innings, giving up four runs on six hits and five walks while striking out four in Sunday's 15-5 win over the Brewers. He did not factor into the decision.
Stroman was able to survive four scoreless frames to open Sunday's outing before the wheels fell off in the bottom of the fifth. He allowed all five batters he faced in the inning to reach base, including a three-run home run by Jake Bauers, which knotted the game up at 4-4. The 32-year-old has now surrendered five total homers over his last four starts after not giving one up in either of his first two outings in 2024. Stroman now owns a 3.69 ERA and 1.42 WHIP with 32 strikeouts over 31.2 innings in six starts this season and he's tentatively set to return to the mound Friday home for a matchup against the Tigers.

5m agoBrunson recorded 47 points (18-34 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 9-11 FT), four rebounds, 10 assists and one block over 44 minutes during Sunday's 97-92 victory over Philadelphia in Game 4 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Brunson put on a show Sunday to help New York take a commanding 3-1 lead against Philadelphia, leading all players in the contest in scoring and assists while setting a playoff career high in scoring and the most points scored by a Knicks players in a playoff game. Brunson has been on a tear as of late, becoming the first player in NBA playoff history with over 85 points and 20 assists in a two-game span.

Davis was questionable for Saturday's Game 4 due to his left wrist sprain, but he suited up and tallied 25 points, 23 rebounds, six assists and a block in 42 minutes. Assuming he's available Monday, it seems unlikely that he'll face any restrictions.

MacKinnon provided two power-play assists in the second period to help give the Avalanche a 4-1 lead going into the third period. He added one hit, three shots on net, two PIM and a plus-1 rating in 20:56 of ice time. Including the regular season, MacKinnon is on a six-game point streak, scoring two goals and adding eight assists over that span. Colorado will be on the the road this Tuesday when they face the Jets in game five.

Nichushkin deposited two power-play goals in the second period to give the Avalanche a 4-1 lead going into the third period. He added an empty-net goal late in the third frame for the hatrick and his sixth goal of the playoffs. The 29-year-old winger added two hits, three blocked shots, five shots on net and a plus-2 rating in 22:28 of ice time. Including the regular season, Nichushkin is on a six-game point streak, scoring eight goals and one assist over that span.

35m agoGeorgiev allowed one goal on 27 shots in Sunday's 5-1 home win over the Jets.
Georgiev allowed a first period goal on the fifth shot of the game but then kicked aside the next 22 shots to keep the Jets off the scoreboard. After a poor performance in game one, Georgiev has only allowed five goals on 77 shots for a .935 save percentage in the last three games. The Avalanche will look to move on to round two when they visit Winnipeg on Tuesday.

Connor Hellebuyck WPG GJets' Connor Hellebuyck: Three consecutive losses
1h agoHellebuyck gave up four goals on 30 shots in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche. The fifth goal was an empty-netter.
Hellebuyck allowed all four goals in the first two periods, including two on the power play. He has now allowed 19 goals on 131 shots and has not topped a .900 save percentage in any game in the first round. In order for the Jets to make a comeback in the series, they need Hellebuyck to get back to his Vezina-calibre ways for the remaining games. Winnipeg will host Colorado on Tuesday.

As expected, Jensen will return from a five-game absence and make his first appearance of the postseason. He tallied 14 points while averaging 19:38 of ice time in 78 games during the regular season. Jensen will skate in a top-four role Sunday as the Capitals look to avoid a first-round sweep.
