Chris Olave NO WRSaints' Chris Olave: Set as WR1 in Big Easy
2h agoOlave is in line to once again serve as the focal point of New Orleans' passing attack after the team added just one wide receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft, selecting Bub Means at No. 170 overall.
Olave is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons to begin his career. The 2022 first-round pick has provided much-needed juice to an otherwise stale Saints offense. In fact, he's the only receiver to put up more than 720 yards in either of the past two seasons, as the team relied largely on aging veterans like Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry to buoy the passing game. New Orleans then moved on from both players this offseason by cutting Thomas in March and letting Landry walk in free agency. Meanwhile, the team went cheap with its additions at the position, signing free agents Cedrick Wilson and Equanimeous St. Brown and waiting until the fifth round to draft Means. As a result, the Saints will more than likely enter the 2024 season with three pass-catchers who have recorded more than 500 yards in a single season - Olave, No.2 wide receiver Rashid Shaheed and tight end Juwan Johnson. 2023 sixth-round pick A.T. Perry will likely round out this receiving room, which Olave should clearly lead once again in 2024.

2h agoKamara (ankle) is in a strong position to maintain his role in New Orleans' offense after the team did not pick a running back in the 2024 NFL Draft, instead signing Jacob Kibodi as an undrafted free agent.
The Saints added two running backs by this point of last offseason, bringing in veteran free agent Jamaal Williams and third-round pick Kendre Miller for depth behind Kamara. The latter running back still shouldered the majority of work out of the backfield with 180 carries for 694 yards and five touchdowns. He also played a significant role in the passing game with 75 receptions for 466 yards. This versatility speaks to Kamara's importance in what was an extremely limited offense. Williams unsurprisingly played much more sparingly as a short-yardage back, and he should function in a similar role in 2024. Taysom Hill has always been used as a swiss army knife who, at times, operates as a rushing quarterback out of the shotgun. But, Hill's usage has never threatened Kamara's production in the past. Instead, his biggest obstacles to seeing another heavy workload in 2024 would be whether or not Miller starts to see more opportunities or if Kamara continues to struggle with injuries, as he did miss the 2023 season finale with a sprained ankle. The Saints added offensive lineman Taliese Fuaga with the 14th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which could help keep defenders off Kamara while improving the team's overall ground game as a whole.

6h ago49ers GM John Lynch recently told ESPN's Pat McAfee Show that he doesn't want to trade Aiyuk or Deebo Samuel despite taking Ricky Pearsall in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Trade rumors earlier in the offseason centered on Aiyuk, who is scheduled to play out 2024 under the fifth-year option on his rookie contract. After the Niners drafted Pearsall, a few reporters suggested Samuel was actually more likely to be moved, in which case the Niners presumably would place greater emphasis on signing Aiyuk to a long-term deal. It now appears both will stay with the team this season, as will returning No. 3 receiver Jauan Jennings. That's not a guarantee, but it at least seems more likely that spring 2025 will be the break-up date for San Francisco's veteran WR corps. Aiyuk and Jennings are only under contract through 2024, while Samuel has two more year on his deal but no guaranteed money after this season.

1d agoThompson-Robinson (hip) will undergo an MRI on Monday and is expected to participate in minicamp next week, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.
DTR suffered a hip subluxation against the Texans on Christmas Eve and was ruled out for the remainder of the Browns' season. His most recent MRI in March revealed progress in his rehab, and Thompson-Robinson is hoping the latest one this upcoming week will allow him to get the green light to do some on-field work with the team's rookies and fellow younger players. The Browns signed veteran QBs Jameis Winston and Tyler Huntley in the offseason, so DTR is facing stiff competition for backup duties behind Deshaun Watson.

Cooper Criswell BOS SPRed Sox's Cooper Criswell: Effective against Minnesota
11m agoCriswell pitched 4.1 innings, allowing one run on five hits and a walk while striking out five batters in Sunday's 9-2 win over the Twins. He did not factor into the decision.
Criswell was once again effective Sunday, limiting the damage against him to just a solo home run by Ryan Jeffers in the bottom of the third inning. The right-hander allowed a double to Carlos Santana to open the bottom of the fifth inning and was ultimately removed from the game after getting Jose Miranda to pop out in the following at-bat, which prevented him from qualifying for the win. Criswell now owns a 1.74 ERA and 1.06 WHIP with 16 strikeouts over 20.2 innings in five appearances this season, including four starts. He is tentatively set to return to the mound Saturday at home versus the Nationals.

11m agoFinnegan walked one batter during one scoreless inning to pick up the save Sunday against the Blue Jays.
Finnegan has not allowed an earned run over his last 13 appearances and converted his 10th straight save opportunity for the surprising Nationals, who moved to .500 on the season with the win. Finnegan now carries a 1.88 ERA and 0.91 WHIP with his 11 total saves matching Clay Holmes and Ryan Helsley for the major league lead in that department.

18m agoDeLuca went 2-for-4 with a two-RBI triple, an additional run scored and an additional RBI during Sunday's 7-6 win over the Mets.
DeLuca delivered in the 10th inning, notching his first career triple and plating Jose Caballero and Ben Rortvedt to secure a Rays victory. In three games since being reinstated from the 10-day IL, DeLuca is 3-for-11 (.273) with six RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases.

22m agoGore did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing six runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks over three innings against the Blue Jays. He struck out four.
Gore needed 76 pitches to get through three innings with a second inning grand slam by Vladimir Guerrero serving as the biggest blow. The silver lining for fantasy managers is that Guerrero's blast did not hurt Gore's stat line as two errors in the inning, including a fielding error by Gore, rendered each of those runs unearned. It was the shortest outing of the season for Gore, who has yet to allow more than three earned runs in any contest. He'll carry a 3.44 ERA into his next start, tentatively scheduled to take place next weekend when the Nationals travel to Fenway Park to take on the Red Sox.

23m agoLindor went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run during Sunday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Rays.
Lindor got the Mets on the board right away, clubbing a two-run shot off Ryan Pepiot as the third batter of the game. The long ball was Lindor's sixth of the season and marked his third time logging multiple RBI in his last four games. During that stretch, the shortstop is 5-for-17 (.294) with eight RBI and four extra-base hits.

24m agoRyan (1-2) was tagged with the loss after he pitched six innings, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out five batters in Sunday's 9-2 defeat to the Red Sox.
Ryan tossed three scoreless frames to open his outing Sunday before giving up an RBI double to Rob Refsnyder in the fourth and then a two-run homer to Ceddanne Rafaela in the fifth inning. The right-hander has now recorded three straight quality starts and he has yet to allow more than three runs in any outing this season. Ryan will carry a 3.54 ERA and 1.01 WHIP into his next projected start Friday in Toronto.

3h agoHaliburton is questionable for Monday's Game 1 against the Knicks due to back spasms.
Haliburton was a late addition to the injury report ahead of Game 4 of the Pacers' opening-round series versus the Bucks but ultimately got the green light and averaged 19.0 points, 6.7 assists and 4.7 rebounds in 32.7 minutes over the final three matchups versus Milwaukee. Given it's the postseason and he hasn't missed a game yet, Haliburton is likely more probable than questionable, but his official availability will be a game-time decision.

4h agoMurray is questionable for Monday's Game 2 against the Timberwolves due to a left calf strain.
Murray continues to play through the calf issue but wasn't at his best during Sunday's Game 1 loss, as he posted only 17 points and four assists. Despite not being 100 percent, he averaged 23.6 points, 7.2 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 39.8 minutes during the opening-round series against the Lakers, including two game-winning shots. Murray is likely more probable than questionable, but his official availability will be a game-time decision.

Hardaway sprained his right ankle during Game 2 of the opening-round series against the Clippers and missed the final four contests. His return to practice is an encouraging sign, but Hardaway's official status for Tuesday's Game 1 against the Thunder likely won't be known until Monday afternoon.

With Jarrett Allen (hip) sidelined, Morris got a chance in the starting unit during Game 6 but finished with just two points (1-7 FG) and eight rebounds in 27 minutes during a disappointing loss. Coach J.B. Bickerstaff has reinserted Isaac Okoro into the starting lineup in place of Morris for the decisive Game 7. In Game 5, Morris came off the bench and posted 12 points (4-9 FG) in 26 minutes.

With Jarrett Allen (hip) out, Okoro started Cleveland's Game 5 win and posted eight points (2-10 FG), four rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes. Okoro was replaced in the starting lineup by Marcus Morris for Game 6, but coach J.B. Bickerstaff has flipped them again ahead of Game 7. As a starter this season (43 games), Okoro has averaged 10.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.2 steals-plus-blocks in 30.1 minutes per game.

Orlov helped out on a Martin Necas tally in the third period. The helper was Orlov's second point in six playoff outings, and he's added 14 shots on net, 11 hits and six blocked shots from a third-pairing role. The 32-year-old is not in the mix for power-play time, so it's unlikely he puts up much offense during the postseason.

The helper was Martinook's second point in six playoff outings. The winger is filling a middle-six role as a checking winger, though that's an assignment that won't get him on the scoresheet regularly. He's added 12 shots on net and 10 hits during the postseason.

Burns has a helper in consecutive contests, and he's up to three points through six playoff contests. The 39-year-old defenseman has added 12 shots on net, 11 blocked shots and a plus-5 rating this postseason. He's still taking on massive minutes in a top-four role, so Burns should be capable of adding respectable scoring numbers during the playoffs.

Guentzel helped out on a Jaccob Slavin tally in the first period. Through six playoff contests, Guentzel has a goal, four assists, 12 shots on net, seven blocked shots and a plus-2 rating. He should continue to work in a top-line role, as Guentzel has displayed excellent chemistry with Sebastian Aho since he was traded from the Penguins.

Slavin was limited to one assist over five games versus the Islanders in the first round. He snapped a six-game goal drought with his tally 3:48 into this contest, which tied it at 1-1. Slavin was his usual steady self in the regular season with 37 points, 151 shots on net, 120 blocked shots and a plus-21 rating over 81 appearances. The 30-year-old defenseman will likely be tasked with heavy defensive minutes in a top-pairing role against the Presidents' Trophy winners.
