8h agoDeaton (knee) was released by the Browns with a failed physical designation Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Deaton suffered a torn ACL in August of 2022 and is apparently still recovering from the issue. He'll first aim to get healthy and then search for a new opportunity around the league.

Brittain Brown LV RB
Raiders' Brittain Brown: Healthy for offseason programs
8h agoBrown participated in the Raiders' offseason program in late April.
Brown played in six games as a rookie in 2022, serving exclusively on special teams. His 2023 campaign ended abruptly after he was placed on injured reserve with an undisclosed issue at the close of training camp, but he'll seemingly enter the new campaign without any lingering issues.

Chris Lammons IND DB
Colts' Chris Lammons: Competing for spot in secondary
8h agoLammons will compete for a roster spot as a backup slot corner during training camp, Kevin Hickey of the Sporting News reports.
Lammons appeared in four games in 2023 and bounced between the Colts' 53-man roster and practice squad. He ended the season nursing an ankle injury but is healthy again and set to battle for a roster spot in 2024, and he'll face some increased competition from rookie Micah Abraham.
-
Dallis Flowers IND CB
Colts' Dallis Flowers: Expects to be ready for 2024
9h agoFlowers (Achilles) expects to be ready for the start of the 2024 season, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Flowers began the 2023 season as a starting corner for the Colts and tallied 15 total tackles and three passes defensed before suffering a torn Achilles in Week 4. He should have the chance to maintain a significant role as an outside corner, opposite Juju Brents with Kenny Moore covering the slot.

Elly De La Cruz CIN SS
Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Halts skid, two steals in loss
7m agoDe La Cruz went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, two steals, a run scored and was caught stealing in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Unsurprisingly, De La Cruz filled up the box score. His fourth-inning single snapped an 0-for-17 slide, and he later delivered a run as part of the Reds' three-run eighth inning to tie the game at 4-4. His aggressiveness on the bases was also on display, swiping his 22nd and 23rd basesn; however, that aggression may have cost Cincinnati. After leading off the sixth with a walk and steal, De La Cruz was caught trying to take third base and was not in scoring position when Jake Fraley singled later in the frame. That aggressiveness is something manger David Bell tolerates from De La Cruz, as he told Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. "Right there, he did have more time, but we've also seen him get to third with no outs and lead to a run," Bell said.

Ryan Thompson ARI RP
Diamondbacks' Ryan Thompson: Blows save, but D-backs win
36m agoThompson allowed one hit, permitting two inherited runners to score, over a third of an inning in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Reds.
Thompson was called on in a high-leverage spot in the bottom of the seventh inning and lost a battle with Spencer Steer, who fouled off a couple two-strike pitches and delivered a two-run single that knotted the game at 4-4. The blown save was the first of the season for Thompson, who has emerged as a late-game trusted arm for manager Torey Lovullo. The right-hander has a 1.20 ERA, allowing 10 hits and just two walks while striking out 11 over 15 innings.
-
Blaze Alexander ARI SS
Diamondbacks' Blaze Alexander: Enters starting lineup
1h agoAlexander started at shortstop, batted ninth and went 0-for-2 with a walk in Thursday's 5-4 win over Cincinnati.
Alexander made his first start in four games, as suspect defense kept his potentially productive bat (.845 OPS, .194 ISO) out of the lineup in favor of Kevin Newman (.525, .125). Alexander's bat has cooled off recently, as the rookie is 1-for-13 over the last seven contests.
-
Corbin Carroll ARI CF
Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll: Delivers winning run
1h agoCarroll went 1-for-4 with a walk and an RBI in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Reds.
Carroll delivered the go-ahead run on a two-out single in the top of the eighth inning, a half inning after the Reds plated three runs to tie the game. The outfielder returned to the top of the order this week after a season-opening slump dropped him to the lower third in late April. He's worked through the slow start, which he attributed to a flat swing, per Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports. Indeed, Carroll's gotten under balls which has contributed to a pop-up rate of 15.2 percent, more than double than what it was in 2023 (7.3 percent).
-
Christian Yelich MIL LF
Brewers' Christian Yelich: Three hits in win
2h agoYelich went 3-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored in Thursday's win over the Cardinals.
Yelich singled in his first at-bat before coming home on a Rhys Hoskins home run as the Brewers took an early 3-0 lead. The outfielder would then add an RBI triple in the fifth to extend Milwaukee's lead and finished the game with three hits for only the second time this season. Yelich had gone hitless in his first game back from the injured list but he's actually hit safely in 11 of his 13 games overall this season. He's also driven in at least one run in four of his last six contests.
-
Tobias Myers MIL RP
Brewers' Tobias Myers: Fans six in no-decision
2h agoMyers did not factor into the decision in Milwaukee's win over the Cardinals on Thursday, allowing one run on three hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out six.
Myers managed to work his way out of jams throughout his four innings of work despite issuing four walks for the second consecutive start. The only run allowed by the 25-year-old right-hander came via a solo homer off the bat of Lars Nootbaar in the top of the third and he's now given up at least one home run in all four of his outings to open the campaign. Myers also recorded a season-high six strikeouts on the night and now carries an 8:8 K:BB through two May starts after posting a 9:1 K:BB through his two outings in April.

Jayson Tatum BOS PF
Celtics' Jayson Tatum: Leading scorer in Game 2 defeat
11h agoTatum tallied 25 points (7-17 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 9-11 FT), seven rebounds, six assists and one steal over 38 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 loss to the Cavaliers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Tatum once again led Boston offensively in Game 2, pacing all Celtics in scoring while handing out a team-high half-dozen assists to go along with a team-best rebound total in a well-rounded outing. Tatum, who also connected on a team-leading total from the free-throw line, has surpassed the 20-point mark in five of his seven games this postseason, adding at least six rebounds and six assists in three outings.
-
Jaylen Brown BOS SF
Celtics' Jaylen Brown: Nears 20 points in Game 2 loss
11h agoBrown posted 19 points (7-17 FG, 0-6 3pt, 5-5 FT), four rebounds and one assist over 31 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 loss to the Cavaliers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Brown struggled from deep in Thursday's contest, not connecting on a three but still ending second on the team in scoring in a near 20-point outing in a Game 2 defeat. Brown had a down game in comparison to Tuesday's 32-point showing in Game 1, and Boston will need the star forward to contribute more in order to steal a game on the road in Game 3 and break a series tie with Cleveland.
-
Payton Pritchard BOS PG
Celtics' Payton Pritchard: Leads bench again in Game 2
11h agoPritchard notched 13 points (6-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt), four assists, two rebounds and one steal over 20 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 loss to the Cavaliers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Pritchard once again provide a spark off the Celtics bench in Thursday's contest, leading all Boston bench players in scoring and assists while ending as one of five Celtics in double figures in scoring in a losing effort. Pritchard has had a strong semifinals series through two games, reaching double figures in both games while playing at least 20 minutes off the bench in both contests. It will be key for the Celtics to get contributions from Pritchard and the rest of the bench this series, and we will likely continue to see Pritchard earn a large chunk of minutes on the second unit.
-
Donovan Mitchell CLE SG
Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Leads offensively in Game 2 victory
11h agoMitchell tallied 29 points (10-19 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 4-6 FT), eight assists and seven rebounds over 40 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 win over the Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Mitchell led Cleveland offensively in a bounce-back performance in Game 2 to even the series with Boston, leading all players in the contest in scoring, threes made and assists while ending one point shy of the 30-point mark in the road game. Mitchell has done it all for the Cavaliers through two games against the Celtics, averaging 31 points so far in the semifinals. Mitchell posted his first game of the postseason with at least seven rebounds and seven assists, also setting a playoff high in threes made in the victory.
-
Evan Mobley CLE PF
Cavaliers' Evan Mobley: Steps up with all-around Game 2
11h agoMobley recorded 21 points (9-15 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, five assists, two blocks and one steal over 33 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 win over the Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Mobley stepped up as the starting center while Jarrett Allen (ribs) remained out in Game 2, leading all players in the contest in rebounds and blocks to go along with a handful of assists while ending as one of three Cavaliers with 20 or more points in a double-double performance. Mobley is off to a hot start in the series against Boston, posting a double-double in both games thus far. If Mobley is able to continue to play well for Cleveland, that will provide a much-needed lift for the Cavaliers against a dominant Celtics squad.
-
Caris LeVert CLE SG
Cavaliers' Caris LeVert: Reaches 20 points off bench in win
11h agoLeVert ended with 21 points (9-17 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds and three assists over 27 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 win over the Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
LeVert made the most of his time off the bench in Game 2, ending as one of three Cavaliers with 20 or more points while helping Cleveland claim a much-needed victory to even the series against Boston. LeVert didn't connect on a three but still ended tied for second on the team in scoring to go along with a half-dozen rebounds and a trio of assists. LeVert had a bounce-back game after recording just four points in Tuesday's Game 1, playing a big part in Cleveland being able to steal a game on the road as it now returns home to try and take a lead in the series.
-
Andrew Cogliano COL C
Avalanche's Andrew Cogliano: Bags apple in loss
7h agoCogliano recorded an assist in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 2.
Cogliano continues to chip in offense despite limited minutes in a fourth-line role. He has a helper in five of seven playoff games, though he's still yet to record a shot on goal. The 36-year-old forward has added four hits, four blocked shots and a plus-3 rating. Cogliano likely can't keep up this pace without generating some chances of his own.
-
Josh Manson COL D
Avalanche's Josh Manson: Registers assist Thursday
7h agoManson posted an assist, four hits, three blocked shots and two PIM in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 2.
Manson set up a Joel Kiviranta tally in the third period. The 32-year-old Manson has been surprisingly reliable on offense this postseason, earning six points with 14 shots on net, 21 hits, 13 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating over seven appearances. That level of production has kept him in a top-four role for the Avalanche, and his physicality adds another layer of intrigue in his game, making him viable in DFS.
-
Ross Colton COL C
Avalanche's Ross Colton: Hands out helper in loss
7h agoColton supplied an assist, five hits and two blocked shots in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 2.
Colton snapped a three-game dry spell with the helper. He's up to four points, 12 shots on net, 27 hits, eight blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over seven playoff contests. Colton remains in a third-line role, and he's see more limited usage in the postseason. The 27-year-old can offer supplementary offense and plenty of physicality.
-
Casey Mittelstadt COL C
Avalanche's Casey Mittelstadt: Collects helper in loss
7h agoMittelstadt recorded an assist in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 2.
Mittelstadt has gone six games without a goal, but he has six assists in that span. The 25-year-old is performing well from his second-line spot with seven points, 16 shots on net and a plus-4 rating over seven playoff outings. The Avalanche's top six continues to see small adjustments, but Mittelstadt has had no trouble regardless of who's on his wings, so he can be safely utilized in most DFS formats.
-
Artturi Lehkonen COL LW
Avalanche's Artturi Lehkonen: Provides assist Thursday
7h agoLehkonen notched an assist and five shots on goal in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 2.
Lehkonen's seven-game point streak ended in Tuesday's Game 1, but he was right back on the scoresheet Thursday. He helped out on a Valeri Nichushkin tally in the third period. Lehkonen is up to five goals, four assists, 27 shots on net, 12 hits and a plus-3 rating through seven playoff contests. He continues to occupy a second-line role, providing solid depth scoring to relieve some of the pressure on the Avalanche's top forwards.
-
Joel Kiviranta COL LW
Avalanche's Joel Kiviranta: Scores against former team
7h agoKiviranta scored a goal on three shots, added three hits and logged two PIM in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 2.
Kiviranta returned from a three-game absence due to a lower-body injury. His goal sparked the Avalanche's comeback attempt in the third period, but it fell short. The winger has two points, six shots on net, 12 hits and a plus-3 rating through four playoff appearances. He continues to occupy a bottom-six role, so his scoring contributions are likely to be minimal.
