Antoine Winfield Jr. TB SAFBuccaneers' Antoine Winfield: Gets record-breaking contract
15m agoWinfield and the Buccaneers agreed to terms Monday on a four-year, $81.1 million contract Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Winfield's contract total of $81.1 million is not only the highest figure for a defensive back in NFL history, but Schefter reports that his deal's $45 million guaranteed his also the largest such sum to be earned by a safety. Tampa Bay placed the $17.1 million franchise tag on Winfield back in March, but that transaction was always a placeholder for long-term negotiations. The Buccaneers will pay a high price to keep the the All-Pro safety in town, proof of Winfield's position as an irreplaceable pillar of the team's secondary. He piled up a career-high 122 tackles (76 solo) across 17 regular-season games in 2023, to go with six sacks, three interceptions, 12 passes defensed, six forced fumbles and four fumbles recovered.

Swain spent time on the Dolphins' practice squad last season, but he hasn't played snaps in a game since 2022, when he suited up for three contests with Denver and one for Miami. The 2020 sixth-round pick will have his work cut out to compete for a depth role in Chicago's crowded receiver room.

Patrick appeared in 23 games with 20 starts over the past two seasons with Chicago. The 30-year-old was the team's starting center for almost the entire 2023 campaign, but he ended the year on IR due to an unspecified calf injury. While the nature of this issue was never revealed, Patrick now appears to be healthy again. He should now provide depth along the interior of New Orleans' offensive line.

22h agoThe Buccaneers signed Jefferson on Sunday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Jefferson was one of 26 players brought in on a tryout basis during Tampa Bay's rookie minicamp Friday and Saturday. The 5-foot-10 running back played at four different schools during his collegiate career, beginning at Maine in 2017. He spent his final two seasons with Kentucky after a standout stint at FCS Sam Houston, where he logged 1,907 yards on 299 carries across two years. However, he finished with just 28 rushes for 184 yards across 11 games with the Wildcats in 2023.

1d agoThe Lions are signing Davis to a contract after he attended rookie camp on a tryout basis, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Davis was waived by the Cardinals in late April after spending most of last year on the team's practice squad. He was active for one contest during the campaign but didn't see any snaps. The 25-year-old will get a shot to compete for a roster spot among a WR corps that is headed by Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams.

Olumuyiwa Fashanu NYJ OTJets' Olumuyiwa Fashanu: Recovering from quad injury
1d agoFashanu strained his quadriceps while running the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and could miss some or all of OTAs due to the injury, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Rosenblatt described the injury as minor, so Fashanu should be recovered well before the start of the regular season, but the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft may not be ready to join his new teammates at the start of offseason workouts. The offensive tackle out of Penn State has been working off to the side with trainers during the Jets' rookie minicamp.

Cooper enjoyed a productive weekend in the Red Sox's series victory over the Nationals, starting in two of the three contests while producing three hits (two doubles, one single), one run and one RBI over six at-bats. He'll cede first base to Dominic Smith on Monday, but Cooper still looks to be locked into a near-everyday role for the Red Sox until Triston Casas (rib) returns from the injured list.

6m agoThe Orioles recalled Stowers from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday.
Baltimore cleared room on the 26-man active roster for Stowers by optioning outfielder/first baseman Heston Kjerstad to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Stowers, 26, is joining the big club for the first time this season, but he saw action with the Orioles during the 2022 and 2023 campaigns and owns a collective .207/.267/.331 in 131 career big-league plate appearances. He'll likely serve as a depth outfielder while he's up with the Orioles and could be sent back to Triple-A once Austin Hays (calf) is ready to return from the injured list.

Heston Kjerstad BAL RFOrioles' Heston Kjerstad: Return to minor leagues
10m agoThe Orioles optioned Kjerstad to Triple-A Norfolk on Monday.
Kjerstad's stint with the big club came and went with a relative whimper, as Baltimore didn't give him many opportunities after he was called up from Triple-A on April 23. He made just four starts during his 17-game stay in the majors, recording a pair of base hits and two walks over 17 plate appearances. The Orioles remain at close to full health in the infield and outfield and don't have an opening in the lineup for Kjerstad at the moment, so the 25-year-old will move back to Norfolk so that he can play on an everyday basis. Baltimore called up outfielder Kyle Stowers from Triple-A to take Kjerstad's spot on the 26-man active roster.

Running the bases is a significant step in LeMahieu's recovery from a non-displaced fracture of his right foot. The veteran infielder has also been taking batting practice and fielding ground balls, and he could re-start a minor-league rehab assignment soon. LeMahieu had begun a rehab stint April 23 but had to be pulled after just one inning due to experiencing soreness in the injured foot.

Jones enjoyed a career milestone when he belted a solo shot in the third inning for his first major-league home run. It was a rare opportunity for him to make an impact -- though Jones has stuck on the Yankees' roster throughout the campaign, Sunday marked just his second start, and he's seen only 10 plate appearances overall. Jones has gone 2-for-8 with a walk and a hit-by-pitch in his limited turns at the dish.

Torres came into the contest batting .156 through 10 games in May and failed to reach base in his first three plate appearances Sunday. However, he came up big in the eighth inning, smashing a three-run shot to increase the Yankees' lead to 9-5. The long ball was just his second of the season, which is a pretty significant drop-off after he went deep 25 times in 158 contests last year.

Despite carrying a questionable tag into Game 4, Doncic doesn't seem to be in any real danger of missing the contest. He helped the Mavericks claim a 2-1 series lead in Saturday's 105-101 win, pouring in 22 points (7-17 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 7-10 FT) to go with 15 rebounds, five assists and two steals across 40 minutes.

3h agoEdwards finished Sunday's 115-107 loss to the Nuggets in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals with 44 points (16-25 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 7-8 FT), five rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals across 45 minutes.
Edwards carried the Timberwolves on offense in Game 4, and at times, he did the heavy lifting all by himself. However, his impressive stat line was not enough to avoid a second consecutive loss at home. Edwards has scored 40 or more points in three of his last five playoff appearances, including twice in the current series. He'll aim to keep that run going Tuesday in Game 5.

Conley didn't have his best shooting performance, but the veteran point guard keeps finding ways to contribute even when his shot isn't falling. He's now scored in double digits in three of the four games thus far while dishing out at least six assists each time.

Karl-Anthony Towns MIN PFTimberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns: Struggles from field Sunday
3h agoTowns posted 13 points (5-18 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-4 FT), 12 rebounds, three assists and one steal in 38 minutes during Sunday's 115-107 loss to the Nuggets in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Towns might have ended with a double-double, and his overall stat line looked decent despite the loss. Still, his shooting woes are impossible to overlook, especially in a game where the Timberwolves needed him to provide a spark on offense. Towns needs to be better offensively for the Wolves. Otherwise, he forces players such as Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley to handle bigger roles on offense, and that's not a recipe for success. Towns is averaging 18.5 points per game while shooting 50.9 percent from the field in the series, and he needs to shake off this woeful showing in Game 5 on Tuesday.

Jamal Murray DEN PGNuggets' Jamal Murray: Scores 19 points in Game 4 win
3h agoMurray provided 19 points (8-17 FG, 3-7 3Pt), five rebounds, eight assists and two steals over 39 minutes during Sunday's 115-107 win over Minnesota in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Murray drained a half-court buzzer-beater to end the first half and finished just two assists shy of posting what would've been his first double-double of the series. The shooting woes remain for Murray, however, as he's hitting just 40 percent of his field goals so far in the four games against Minnesota, but he seems to be trending in the right direction after scoring 19 or more points in his last two contests.

3h agoJokic ended Sunday's 115-107 win over the Timberwolves in Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals with 35 points (15-26 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 4-6 FT), seven rebounds, seven assists, one block and three steals in 39 minutes.
Aaron Gordon had an excellent showing and Jamal Murray made some clutch buckets throughout the game, but Jokic was the engine that kept the team going. For the second game in a row, he came through whenever Denver needed him the most. Jokic is expected to lead the Nuggets as the series returns to Denver for a pivotal Game 5 on Tuesday, and he's averaging 26.8 points, 11.3 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game in the series.

1h agoOettinger will guard the road goal in Game 4 versus Colorado on Monday, per Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News.
Oettinger has won his last two outings, including a 28-save performance in Saturday's 4-1 victory over the Avalanche in Game 3. He has a 6-4 record with a 2.12 GAA and a .919 save percentage through 10 starts this postseason. If the Stars emerge victorious in Monday's contest, the team can take a commanding 3-1 series lead back to Dallas for Game 5 on Wednesday.

Hakanpaa sat out the final 13 games of the regular season and will miss his 11th straight playoff contest. It's still unclear when he will be available to return to the lineup. Hakanpaa registered two goals, 12 points, 56 shots on net, 123 blocked shots and 196 hits in 64 appearances during the 2023-24 campaign.

Drouin has yet to play during the playoffs due to a lower-body injury. Filip Chytil NYR CRangers' Filip Chytil: Status uncertain
3h agoChytil (illness) remains questionable to face Carolina in Game 5 on Monday after head coach Peter Laviolette told reporters, "He practiced this morning. That's a real positive thing for our team. I'm going to keep any lineup decisions that I make to myself," per Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today.
The fact that Chytil didn't take part in line rushes would certainly indicate that he won't be in action Monday but fantasy managers will have to wait until closer to puck drop for official confirmation on the center's status. If he were to be cleared to play, Chytil would likely knock Jonny Brodzinski from the lineup while filling a bottom-six role.
