Dawson Deaton: Let go by Browns
1h agoDeaton (knee) was released by the Browns with a failed physical designation Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Deaton suffered a torn ACL in August of 2022 and is apparently still recovering from the issue. He'll first aim to get healthy and then search for a new opportunity around the league.

Raiders' Dalton Wagner: Returns to practice field
1h agoWagner participated in Las Vegas' offseason program Wednesday.
Wagner signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2023 but went down with a season-ending injury late in training camp. The issue wasn't disclosed, but he's back at full strength heading into 2024.
-

Raiders' Kana'i Mauga: Back in action
1h agoMauga (knee) participated in the Raiders' offseason program Wednesday.

-
Brittain Brown LV RB
Raiders' Brittain Brown: Healthy for offseason programs
1h agoBrown participated in the Raiders' offseason program in late April.
Brown played in six games as a rookie in 2022, serving exclusively on special teams. His 2023 campaign ended abruptly after he was placed on injured reserve with an undisclosed issue at the close of training camp, but he'll seemingly enter the new campaign without any lingering issues.
-
Chris Lammons IND DB
Colts' Chris Lammons: Competing for spot in secondary
1h agoLammons will compete for a roster spot as a backup slot corner during training camp, Kevin Hickey of the Sporting News reports.
Lammons appeared in four games in 2023 and bounced between the Colts' 53-man roster and practice squad. He ended the season nursing an ankle injury but is healthy again and set to battle for a roster spot in 2024, and he'll face some increased competition from rookie Micah Abraham.
-
Dallis Flowers IND CB
Colts' Dallis Flowers: Expects to be ready for 2024
2h agoFlowers (Achilles) expects to be ready for the start of the 2024 season, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Flowers began the 2023 season as a starting corner for the Colts and tallied 15 total tackles and three passes defensed before suffering a torn Achilles in Week 4. He should have the chance to maintain a significant role as an outside corner, opposite Juju Brents with Kenny Moore covering the slot.
-
Nolan Jones COL LF
Rockies' Nolan Jones: Ready to increase activity
2h agoJones (back) did light throwing prior to Thursday's game against the Giants and will continue to ramp up his activity Friday or Saturday, MLB.com reports.
Jones has been out since April 30 and did light throwing and running drills Saturday. If this weekend goes according to plan, he could head out on a rehab assignment in the coming days.
-
Kris Bryant COL DH
Rockies' Kris Bryant: Does fielding drills
3h agoBryant (back) did infield drills and hit in the batting cage prior to the Rockies' game against the Giants on Wednesday, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
Bryant has progressed slowly since landing on the injured list, and it has since been disclosed that he has disc and arthritis issues in his lower back. He took a step forward Wednesday, making his first participation in baseball activities since being sidelined. Manager Bud Black noted that Bryant will likely need a rehab assignment, meaning there's a good chance he won't be activated until at least late May.

Kyren Paris LAA SS
Angels' Kyren Paris: Promoted to majors
4h agoParis was recalled from Double-A Rocket City on Thursday.
With both Brandon Drury (hamstring) and Luis Rengifo (illness) sidelined, the Angels were shorthanded along the infield. Paris boasts enough defensive versatility to help the team in that regard, as he is capable of playing second base and shortstop as well as in the outfield. His ability to contribute as a hitter is far less clear, as he was striking out at a 39.1 percent clip across 92 plate appearances with Rocket City prior to his promotion.
-
Luis Rengifo LAA 2B
Angels' Luis Rengifo: Sidelined by illness
4h agoRengifo (illness) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday.
Rengifo has been held out of the lineup for five straight games with the illness, so his stint on the injured list will be retroactive to May 6. Kyren Paris was recalled from Double-A Rocket City in a corresponding move and should take over in a utility role while Rengifo is sidelined.
-
Brandon Drury LAA 2B
Angels' Brandon Drury: Placed on injured list
4h agoDrury (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday.
Drury exited Wednesday's game after dealing with tightness in his hamstring, an issue he first dealt with in mid-April. He'll be sidelined for at least the next 10 days, leaving Luis Guillorme as the Angels' projected starting second baseman in the short term.
-
Luis Guillorme LAA 2B
Angels' Luis Guillorme: In Thursday's lineup
4h agoGuillorme will hit eighth and play second base Thursday against the Royals.
The Angels acquired Guillorme Thursday and he'll immediately be set for his debut with the team. With Brandon Drury (hamstring) landing on the injured list, Guillorme could be in line for regular playing time in the short term.

Jayson Tatum BOS PF
Celtics' Jayson Tatum: Leading scorer in Game 2 defeat
4h agoTatum tallied 25 points (7-17 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 9-11 FT), seven rebounds, six assists and one steal over 38 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 loss to the Cavaliers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Tatum once again led Boston offensively in Game 2, pacing all Celtics in scoring while handing out a team-high half-dozen assists to go along with a team-best rebound total in a well-rounded outing. Tatum, who also connected on a team-leading total from the free-throw line, has surpassed the 20-point mark in five of his seven games this postseason, adding at least six rebounds and six assists in three outings.
-
Jaylen Brown BOS SF
Celtics' Jaylen Brown: Nears 20 points in Game 2 loss
4h agoBrown posted 19 points (7-17 FG, 0-6 3pt, 5-5 FT), four rebounds and one assist over 31 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 loss to the Cavaliers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Brown struggled from deep in Thursday's contest, not connecting on a three but still ending second on the team in scoring in a near 20-point outing in a Game 2 defeat. Brown had a down game in comparison to Tuesday's 32-point showing in Game 1 and Boston will need the star guard to contribute more in order to steal a game on the road in Game 3 and break a series tie with Cleveland.
-
Payton Pritchard BOS PG
Celtics' Payton Pritchard: Leads bench again in Game 2
4h agoPritchard notched 13 points (6-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt), four assists, two rebounds and one steal over 20 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 loss to the Cavaliers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Pritchard once again provide a spark off the Celtics bench in Thursday's contest, leading all Boston bench players in scoring and assists while ending as one of five Celtics in double figures in scoring in a losing effort. Pritchard has had a strong semifinals series through two games, reaching double figures in both games while playing at least 20 minutes off the bench in both contests. It will be key for the Celtics to get contributions from Pritchard and the rest of the bench this series, and we will likely continue to see Pritchard earn a large chunk of minutes on the second unit.
-
Donovan Mitchell CLE SG
Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Leads offensively in Game 2 victory
4h agoMitchell tallied 29 points (10-19 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 4-6 FT), eight assists and seven rebounds over 40 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 win over the Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Mitchell led Cleveland offensively in a bounce-back performance in Game 2 to even the series with Boston, leading all players in the contest in scoring, threes made and assists while ending one point shy of the 30-point mark in the road game. Mitchell has done it all for the Cavaliers through two games against the Celtics, averaging 31 points so far in the semifinals. Mitchell posted his first game of the postseason with at least seven rebounds and seven assists, also setting a playoff high in threes made in the victory.
-
Evan Mobley CLE PF
Cavaliers' Evan Mobley: Steps up with all-around Game 2
4h agoMobley recorded 21 points (9-15 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, five assists, two blocks and one steal over 33 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 win over the Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Mobley stepped up as the starting center while Jarrett Allen (ribs) remained out in Game 2, leading all players in the contest in rebounds and blocks to go along with a handful of assists while ending as one of three Cavaliers with 20 or more points in a double-double performance. Mobley is off to a hot start in the series against Boston, posting a double-double in both games thus far. If Mobley is able to continue to play well for Cleveland, that will provide a much-needed lift for the Cavaliers against a dominant Celtics squad.
-
Caris LeVert CLE SG
Cavaliers' Caris LeVert: Reaches 20 points off bench in win
4h agoLeVert ended with 21 points (9-17 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds and three assists over 27 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 win over the Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
LeVert made the most of his time off the bench in Game 2, ending as one of three Cavaliers with 20 or more points while helping Cleveland claim a much-needed victory to even the series against Boston. LeVert didn't connect on a three but still ended tied for second on the team in scoring to go along with a half-dozen rebounds and a trio of assists. LeVert had a bounce-back game after recording just four points in Tuesday's Game 1, playing a big part in Cleveland being able to steal a game on the road as it now returns home to try and take a lead in the series.

Brandon Duhaime COL RW
Avalanche's Brandon Duhaime: Finds twine Thursday
2m agoDuhaime scored a goal and blocked two shots in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 2.
Duhaime earned his first point of the playoffs with a third-period goal. His last scoring contribution also came against the Stars when he had a goal and an assist April 7. The fourth-liner has four shots on net, 24 hits, six blocked shots, six PIM and a minus-1 rating through seven postseason contests, and he shouldn't be expected to put up much offense in a limited role.
-
Valeri Nichushkin COL RW
Avalanche's Valeri Nichushkin: Keeps scoring Thursday
11m agoNichushkin scored a goal on three shots in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 2.
Nichushkin's tally brought the Avalanche within a goal late in the third period, but they couldn't pull off another stunning comeback. The winger has at least one goal in all seven playoff contests so far, scoring nine times with one assist, 24 shots on net, 18 hits and a plus-3 rating. Nichushkin was shuffled to the second line during Thursday's game, but that's unlikely to hamper his production even if it ends up being a more permanent move.
-
Alexandar Georgiev COL G
Avalanche's Alexandar Georgiev: Drops Game 2
14m agoGeorgiev allowed four goals on 30 shots in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 2. The fifth goal was an empty-netter.
Georgiev and the Avalanche again found themselves in a hole early on, and the comeback effort fell short this time around. Georgiev's five-game winning streak was snapped, and he's now allowed 10 goals over his last three outings. The Stars are giving him trouble early in games, though he may be able to get back on track with this second-round series shifting back to Colorado for Games 3 and 4 on Saturday and Monday, respectively.
-
Nils Lundkvist DAL D
Stars' Nils Lundkvist : Gets on scoresheet Thursday
17m agoLundkvist posted an assist in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Avalanche in Game 2.
Lundkvist's minutes have been heavily managed during the postseason -- he's reached 10 minutes in just one of nine playoff games. As such, he's produced next to nothing statistically, with the assist being his first point to go with a minus-1 rating, one shot on goal, five hits and one blocked shot. Lundkvist will almost certainly lose his place in the lineup once Jani Hakanpaa (lower body) is fit to play.
-
Christopher Tanev DAL D
Stars' Chris Tanev: Chips in with helper
20m agoTanev logged an assist, two hits and four blocked shots in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Avalanche in Game 2.
Tanev helped out on Esa Lindell's empty-net goal. The assist snapped an 11-game point drought for Tanev, who continues to be a defensive force with little scoring upside during the postseason. He's posted 35 blocked shots, 12 hits, eight shots on net and a plus-5 rating through nine playoff outings following a 19-point regular season across 75 games for Dallas and Calgary.
-
Thomas Harley DAL D
Stars' Thomas Harley: Sets up shortie
22m agoHarley logged a shorthanded assist and four shots on goal in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Avalanche in Game 2.
Harley took a shot, and Tyler Seguin was able to knock in the rebound for the Stars' fourth goal. Both of Harley's helpers this postseason have come within the last three games. The 22-year-old blueliner is up to 18 shots on net, 24 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating while holding down a top-four role. Dallas has leaned heavily on its top defensemen, so Harley should continue to see massive minutes even if he's not a significant factor on offense.
