Panthers' Ilm Manning: Reverts to injured reserve

The severity of Manning's injury is not yet known. The offensive guard will need to reach an injury settlement with the team to play in 2024.

Phillip Dorsett DEN WR
Broncos' Phillip Dorsett: Back with Denver
3h agoDorsett signed with the Broncos on Monday after being released on Friday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
The wide receiver spent 2023 with Denver's practice squad, played in two games and didn't catch any of his three targets. The 2015 first-round pick has just 21 catches over the past four seasons with four different teams. Now he'll get a chance to stick with Denver on a depth chart that includes 12 wide receivers.

Jacques Patrick NYJ RB
Jacques Patrick: Let go by Jets
3h agoPatrick was waived by the Jets on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The running back signed with New York's practice squad in December and was signed to a reserve/future contract in January. Patrick last appeared in an NFL game in 2021 with the 49ers.
-
John Penisini NO DT
John Penisini: Waived by New Orleans
3h agoPenisini was waived by the Saints on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The defensive tackle played in 32 games with the Lions between the 2020 and '21 seasons but has not appeared in an NFL game since. Penisini was waived from Carolina's reserve/PUP list in August 2023.

T.J. Smith MIN DT
Panthers' T.J. Smith: Agrees to terms with Carolina
6h agoThe Panthers signed Smith on Monday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Smith bounced back-and-forth between the Vikings' practice squad and active roster over the course of three-year NFL career, but he's now found a new home in Carolina. The 27-year-old defensive lineman has appeared in four games during his time in the league, recording 11 total tackles while playing 108 total snaps (86 defensive and 22 on special teams). He's expected to compete for a backup role on the Panthers' defense as the offseason advances.

Jared Goff DET QB
Lions' Jared Goff: Lands four-year, $212M extension
6h agoThe Lions signed Goff to a four-year, $212 million contract extension Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The deal contains $170 million guaranteed, and Goff is now the highest-paid player in Lions franchise history. The 2016 No. 1 overall pick of the Rams, Goff was acquired from Los Angeles in the Matthew Stafford haul prior to the 2021 season and has resurrected his career under Detroit OC Ben Johnson. In three seasons with Detroit, Goff has completed 66.5 percent of his passes, up from 63.4 percent with Los Angeles, and has thrown for 12,258 yards with a splendid 78:27 TD:INT mark. He's lowered his turnover rate with Detroit and just helped lead the team to the NFC Championship Game last season. Goff is still just 29 years old and is locked in with the Lions for at least the next few seasons.

A.J. Minter ATL RP
Braves' A.J. Minter: Collects first save
2m agoMinter worked around a hit and walk allowed to pick up the save Monday against the Cubs. He pitched a shutout inning with no strikeouts.
For the second straight night, Minter received the call for the save but was able to escape Monday unlike Sunday evening. Minter allowed Cody Bellinger to reach via an infield single and walked Christopher Morel before securing three outs to finish the game. Raisel Iglesias, who threw 48 pitches over back-to-back outings on Thursday and Friday, was likely slated for additional rest and should retain his closer role over Minter in Atlanta.

Matt Manning DET SP
Tigers' Matt Manning: Strikes out five in no-decision
5m agoManning allowed three runs on nine hits across 5.2 innings and did not factor into the decision Monday against the Marlins. He walked one and struck out five.
Manning was recalled from Triple-A Toledo before the game, and he managed to limit damage despite being a tad too hittable. The five strikeouts helped the cause and continued a promising trend for the righty. Across 22.2 innings in the majors this year, Manning now has 22 strikeouts. He also has 24 strikeouts over 19 innings in the minors. For a pitcher who posted a 5.8 K/9 for Detroit in 2023, it's a step in the right direction. Manning should continue to start with Kenta Maeda (illness) out, and he's penciled in to take the mound again Sunday against the Diamondbacks on the road.

Shota Imanaga CHC SP
Cubs' Shota Imanaga: Fans eight in no-decision
6m agoImanaga did not factor into the decision Monday against Atlanta, allowing seven hits and three walks over five shutout innings. He struck out eight.
With his five shutout frames Monday, Imanaga shaved his ERA down to 0.96, a sterling mark for his first 46.2 major league innings. However, the Atlanta offense made the Cubs lefty work hard for his scoreless night as they had 10 baserunners and drew three walks, both setting season-highs allowed for Imanaga. He draws a much easier opponent in his next start, scheduled against Pittsburgh at home this upcoming weekend.
-
Pete Fairbanks TB RP
Rays' Pete Fairbanks: Dealing with cut on throwing hand
7m agoFairbanks was unavailable to pitch Monday night against the Red Sox due to a cut on his right index finger, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Manager Kevin Cash is hopeful Fairbanks will be available out of the bullpen for Tuesday's matchup. Jason Adam handled the closer duties Monday and could be called upon again Tuesday if Fairbanks can't go.
-
Christopher Morel CHC 3B
Cubs' Christopher Morel: Exits with toe injury
13m agoMorel left Monday's game against Atlanta after fouling a ball off his left foot, and he's been diagnosed with a left toe injury, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Morel is reportedly dealing with bumps and bruises, per Lee, so this appears to be a day-to-day type of injury. The Cubs should know more about his availability for the rest of the week after re-evaluating him Tuesday.
-
Alex Faedo DET RP
Tigers' Alex Faedo: Allows two runs but earns win
15m agoFaedo (3-1) allowed two runs on three hits across 2.1 innings of relief but managed to earn the win in Monday's game against the Marlins. He struck out four.
Faedo wasn't at his sharpest Monday, but the righty still managed to earn another win out of the bullpen. He's been racking those up at an impressive but likely unsustainable pace, as he came into the season with only three total wins at the MLB level the last two years despite making 24 starts. Faedo has been solid so far, though his long-relief role makes his fantasy value somewhat unpredictable moving forward.
-
Max Strus CLE SG
Cavaliers' Max Strus: Leads from deep in balanced Game 4
20m agoStrus provided 15 points (5-12 FG, 5-9 3Pt), seven rebounds, seven assists and two steals over 43 minutes before fouling out of Monday's 109-102 loss to Boston in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Strus led all players in Monday's contest in threes made while ending as one of four Cavaliers in scoring and handing out a team-high-tying assist total along with a pair of steals. Strus, who also hauled in seven boards, posted a new playoff-high in threes made and notched his second game with 10 or more points in the series against the Celtics.
-
Darius Garland CLE PG
Cavaliers' Darius Garland: Leads offensively in Game 4 loss
22m agoGarland accumulated 30 points (12-27 FG, 4-13 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, seven assists and two steals over 40 minutes during Monday's 109-102 loss to Boston in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Garland led all Cavaliers in scoring while connecting on a quartet of threes, handing out a team-high-tying assist total and adding a pair of steals in a well-rounded Game 4 against the Celtics. Garland, playing with more weight on his shoulders to lead the short-handed Cavaliers offensively, posted his highest scoring total of the postseason thus far. He has recorded at least 14 points and four assists in all four games against Boston in the semifinals.
-
Caris LeVert CLE SG
Cavaliers' Caris LeVert: Nears 20 points in Game 4 start
24m agoLeVert ended with 19 points (9-18 FG, 1-8 3Pt), five rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals across 39 minutes during Monday's 109-102 loss to the Celtics in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
LeVert got the starting nod with the Cavaliers playing without Jarrett Allen (ribs) and Donovan Mitchell (calf), providing a lift offensively while ending one point shy of the 20-point mark in a losing effort. LeVert has been a key player coming off the bench for Cleveland this series, posting 15 or more points in three of the four games against Boston. If Mitchell is able to return for Game 5, look for LeVert to return to the second unit to be a spark off the bench. If Mitchell does miss Game 5, LeVert will be called upon again to step into the starting lineup.
-
Jrue Holiday BOS PG
Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Dominates from deep in Game 4
34m agoHoliday produced 16 points (6-11 FG, 4-8 3Pt), seven rebounds, five assists, one block and three steals over 43 minutes during Monday's 109-102 victory over the Cavaliers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Holiday led all Celtics in Game 4 in threes made while ending as one of three players with 15 or more points to go along with a team-high-tying handful of assists and a team-best trio of steals in a winning effort. Holiday connected on at least four threes for the first time this postseason, now having tallied at least 15 points, seven rebounds and five assists in two straight contests for Boston.
-
Jaylen Brown BOS SF
Celtics' Jaylen Brown: Boosts offensively in Game 4 win
37m agoBrown amassed 27 points (9-15 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 7-9 FT), eight rebounds and one assist in 34 minutes during Monday's 109-102 victory over Cleveland in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Brown was a dominant pairing alongside Jayson Tatum, leading Boston offensively en route to helping the team take a 3-1 series advantage. Brown connected on a pair of threes while ending as one of two players with 25 or more points in the victory, also finishing two rebounds shy of a double-double. Brown has turned his game up a notch over the last two games against Cleveland, posting at least 25 points and eight boards in two straight outings.
-
Jayson Tatum BOS PF
Celtics' Jayson Tatum: Does it all in Game 4 victory
39m agoTatum had 33 points (11-25 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 9-9 FT), 11 rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals across 44 minutes during Monday's 109-102 win over the Cavaliers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Tatum did a little bit of everything to lead Boston to taking a commanding 3-1 series lead, pacing all players in Monday's contest in scoring and rebounds while shooting a perfect mark from the free-throw line and adding a handful of assists along with a pair of steals. Tatum has scored 25 or more points in three of his four games against Cleveland, turning things up a notch over the last two contests while posting at least 30 points, 10 rebounds and five dimes in each game.

Devon Toews COL D
Avalanche's Devon Toews: Out Monday
1h agoToews (illness) will not be available for Game 4 against the Stars on Monday, Evan Rawal of Colorado Hockey Now reports.
Toews was available at morning skate but ended up being a late scratch for Monday's game. The 30-year-old blueliner has a goal and six points through eight postseason games after scoring 50 points during the regular season. Caleb Jones is expected to dress Monday. Toews' status for Wednesday's Game 5 is currently unknown.
-
Jonathan Drouin COL LW
Avalanche's Jonathan Drouin: Good to go Monday
1h agoDrouin (lower body) is expected to play Monday against the Stars, Evan Rawal of Colorado Hockey Now reports.
Drouin will make his first appearance of the postseason after missing Colorado's first eight games. The 29-year-old scored a career-high 56 points with 19 goals in 79 games during the regular season. He should slide into a top-six role.
-
Valeri Nichushkin COL RW
Avalanche's Valeri Nichushkin: Back in assistance program
2h agoNichushkin was placed in the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program and will be suspended for six months.
Nichushkin was in the program during the regular season, missing 22 games as a result. Now, he's in Stage 3 of the program and will need to apply for reinstatement after a six-month suspension. He scored 28 goals and 53 points through 54 games this season. Nichushkin also racked up nine goals and 10 points through eight playoff games. With him out, Zach Parise could see a bump in playing time.
-
Igor Shesterkin NYR G
Rangers' Igor Shesterkin: Guarding crease Monday

Shesterkin was riding a seven-game winning streak to begin the playoffs before Carolina finally beat him in Game 4 on Saturday. He allowed four goals on 31 shots in the loss, the first time this postseason he's allowed more than three. He's registered an impressive .925 save percentage while facing 160 shots this series.
-
Filip Chytil NYR C
Rangers' Filip Chytil: Unavailable Monday
4h agoChytil (illness) will not play Monday against the Hurricanes, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports.
On top of his illness, Chytil is reportedly also dealing with some soreness that's unrelated to the head injury that cost him nearly the entire 2023-24 campaign. He logged one shot and one hit in 12:02 of ice time during the Game 3 win against Carolina, his first game since Nov. 2. He'll be considered question for Game 6 on Thursday, if necessary.
-
Carson Soucy VAN D
Canucks' Carson Soucy: Receives one-game suspension
6h agoSoucy was suspended for one game by the NHL Department of Player Safety on Monday for cross-checking Edmonton's Connor McDavid in Sunday's Game 3.
Soucy received a two-minute penalty for cross-checking McDavid at the 20-minute mark of the third period in the Canucks' 4-3 win over the Oilers on Sunday. Noah Juulsen will probably replace Soucy in the lineup for Game 4 against Edmonton on Tuesday. The 29-year-old Soucy has four assists, zero shots on goal, nine blocked shots and 27 hits in nine contests this postseason.
