1h agoMcLeod (biceps) said Tuesday he plans to retire after the 2024 campaign, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN reports.
McLeod is presumably healthy after a biceps injury limited him to 10 appearances (five starts) in 2023. He signed a one-year deal back in March to return to Cleveland for a second season. The soon-to-be 34-year-old figures to contribute on defense in a depth capacity, while also handling a role on special teams.

Michael Wilson ARI WRCardinals' Michael Wilson: Outlook muddied after recent arrivals
23h agoWilson has more competition for targets from quarterback Kyler Murray after the team selected Marvin Harrison fourth overall in this year's draft and then signed seven-year pro Zay Jones last week, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Wilson spent much of the offseason No. 2, at best, in the pecking order in the Cardinals passing game behind tight end Trey McBride, but the recent additions leave Wilson's potential volume in the upcoming campaign up in the air. As a rookie third-round pick last year, Wilson put together a 38-565-3 line on 58 targets in 13 contests, but he produced just 13 catches (on 25 targets) for 164 yards and one touchdown in five outings with Murray under center. The arrival of the dynamic Harrison likely leaves Wilson fending for looks with Jones, who has three years with at least 500 receiving yards on his resume.

1d agoElliss (shoulder) should be fully recovered from shoulder surgery by training camp, Mike Klis of 9News reports.
Elliss underwent surgery to repair a torn shoulder labrum six months ago, but he still isn't quite 100 percent. However, the Broncos' 2024 third-round selection was able to take part in walkthroughs and individual portions of the team's recent rookie minicamp. The son of former NFL player Luther Elliss, Jonah projects to be a pass-rush specialist after recording 12 sacks in just 10 games at Utah last season.

Jalen Camp CLE WRBrowns' Jalen Camp: Finds new opportunity
1d agoCamp signed a contract with the Browns on Tuesday.
Camp bounced around multiple practice squads last season, including Carolina's, which he was waived from Friday. The Georgia Tech product will now work to make the most of his new opportunity in Cleveland after not being able to find his way onto an active NFL roster in 2023.

1d agoHavrisik was waived by the Browns on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Havrisik signed a reserve/future contract with Cleveland in January after the Rams waived him. He was expected to at least have the opportunity to compete with Dustin Hopkins (hamstring) and Cade York for the team's kicker job in 2024, but instead, he'll become a free agent once again.

Luciano was set to get a second opportunity with the 49ers after appearing in two games with the franchise last season. However, he'll now hit the open market again to make room for swing tackle Chris Hubbard.

2m agoThe Dodgers designated Crismatt for assignment Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Crismatt was added to the active roster April 27 and has since given up two earned runs through five innings across four appearances. The Dodgers are in need of fresh bullpen arms for Wednesday's game against San Francisco, so they will cast the 29-year-old right-hander off the 40-man for the second time this year and select Elieser Hernandez from Triple-A Oklahoma City to replace Crismatt.

3m agoThe Dodgers selected Hernandez's contract from Triple-A Oklahoma City, and he's starting Wednesday's game against the Giants, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
The right-hander signed with the Dodgers as a non-roster invitee during the offseason and will now receive his first look with the big-league club. Hernandez has covered at least five frames in each of his previous five starts at Triple-A and posted a 2.45 ERA during that stretch, but he may not last that long Wednesday with Los Angeles expected to have a bullpen game. Ryan Yarbrough and Eduardo Salazar -- who was promoted Wednesday -- are also in the mix to see bulk innings.

With lefty Framber Valdez on the hill for Houston, the lefty-hitting Soderstrom will retreat to the bench. Soderstrom appears to have settled into the strong side of a platoon at first base with the right-handed-hitting J.D. Davis, who will get the starting nod Wednesday.

6m agoThe Dodgers optioned Varland to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Since coming up from the minors in late April, Varland has given up one earned run through 5.1 innings while striking out three batters and walking four. He last pitched Tuesday, so he'll return to the minors to make room for a fresh arm in Eduardo Salazar, as the Dodgers prepare to rely on their bullpen to get them through Wednesday's affair with the Giants.

Dodgers' Eduardo Salazar: Recalled from OKC
12m agoThe Dodgers recalled Salazar from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Through seven starts at Triple-A, Salazar has posted a 5.61 ERA and 1.78 WHIP across 33.2 innings. Although he's been used exclusively as a starter in the minors this season, he will come out of the bullpen for the Dodgers, giving the team depth during its bullpen game Wednesday against the Giants. Gus Varland was optioned to Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.

Brooks Raley NYM RPMets' Brooks Raley: Diagnosed with UCL strain
22m agoManager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that imaging revealed a UCL strain in Raley's left elbow, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Mendoza noted that Raley's UCL is healing, but the Mets will shut him down for two weeks before re-evaluating him, at which point the team will determine next steps. The left-hander has been on the injured list since April 21 and was initially expected to come off the IL after the 15-day minimum, but he has not made any significant progress toward a return to throwing.

18m agoMurray is questionable for Thursday's Game 6 against the Timberwolves due to a left calf strain.
After losing the first two games of the series, the Nuggets have won three straight and are on the verge of advancing to the Western Conference Finals for a second consecutive campaign. Murray scored at least 20 points in all five games against the Lakers during the opening-round series but has reached that mark only once versus Minnesota.

6h agoMitchell (calf) is officially listed as questionable for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Celtics, but he's not expected to play, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Mitchell has been spectacular in the playoffs and averaged 35.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.0 steals in 41.0 minutes over his last six appearances. However, he picked up a left calf strain during Game 3 and was sidelined for Cleveland's Game 4 loss. If Mitchell is unavailable again, Caris LeVert (knee) would likely start next to Darius Garland in the backcourt, while Sam Merrill may see an increased role off the bench.

8h agoAnunoby is expected to remain out Friday for the Knicks' Game 6 matchup with the Pacers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals but may return to the lineup thereafter, Brian Windhorst reported Wednesday on ESPN's "Get Up" program. "He's out of the pool and doing some court work for the Knicks," Windhorst said of Anunoby. "If the Knicks advance, the fact that he's already out there on the court and doing some light work makes it a possibility that the Knicks could see him in the Eastern Conference Finals should they get one more victory."
Anunoby sounds unlikely to return to action for a potential Game 7 on Sunday if the Pacers were to extend the series with a win Friday, but the 26-year-old looks like he could be ready to go for the start of a conference final series with the Celtics or Cavaliers if his hamstring responds well to on-court work. After Precious Achiuwa had started in place of Anunoby in Games 3 and 4, Miles McBride entered the starting five for the Knicks' Game 5 win as part of a small-ball lineup.

15h agoPorter had six points (2-10 FG, 2-7 3Pt), seven rebounds, one assist and two blocks over 36 minutes during Tuesday's 112-97 victory over the Timberwolves in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Porter managed just six points in the victory, continuing his recent offensive struggles. He has scored fewer than 10 points in three of the past four games, a very different story compared to how he opened the playoffs. Despite his poor shooting, the Nuggets now sit just one win away from another trip to the Western Conference Finals. Look for Porter to turn things around in the near future.

15h agoJokic supplied 40 points (15-22 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 8-9 FT), seven rebounds, 13 assists, one block and two steals over 41 minutes during Tuesday's 112-97 victory over the Timberwolves in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Jokic took over during Game 5, leading the Nuggets to a third consecutive victory over the Timberwolves. Despite going up against the Defensive Player of the Year, Jokic had no issues getting what he wanted around the basket and finished with a playoff-high 40 points. The series will head back to Minnesota where Jokic and the Nuggets will look to wrap things up Thursday.

15h agoBraun closed Tuesday's 112-97 victory over Minnesota in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals with 10 points (4-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-3 FT), five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal over 28 minutes.
Braun continues to play meaningful minutes for the Nuggets, scoring double-digits for the second straight game. After failing to play more than 19 minutes during the first eight postseason games, he has now played 25 and 28 minutes respectively in each of the past two games. After reeling off three straight victories, the Nuggets now sit one win away from a trip to the Conference Finals.

David Rittich LA GKings' David Rittich: Inks one-year deal
1m agoRittich signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Kings on Wednesday.
Rittich had a 13-6-3 record, 2.15 GAA and .921 save percentage in 24 regular-season appearances with the Kings in 2023-24. He also stopped 34 of 39 shots (.872 save percentage) across two playoff outings this year. Rittich would have become an unrestricted free agent this summer if he didn't sign this extension. Cam Talbot, who logged 54 regular-season games with LA, remains set to become a UFA, so it's unclear who Rittich's goaltending partner will be next year. Although the 31-year-old Rittich is coming off a strong campaign, he has spent most of his career as a backup goaltender, so it wouldn't be surprising if the Kings seek to pair him with an established starter.

Jake Oettinger DAL GStars' Jake Oettinger: Slated to start Wednesday
3h agoOettinger is set to guard the home goal in Wednesday's Game 5 against the Avalanche, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports.
Oettinger is aiming for his fourth consecutive victory after stopping 80 of 85 shots (.941 save percentage) across his previous three wins over Colorado. The netminder has a 7-4 record, 2.02 GAA and .923 save percentage in 11 playoff appearances this year. While Oettinger has been great, the Avalanche have a potent offense, so it wouldn't be surprising if they prove to be quite the challenge for the 25-year-old goaltender as Colorado fights to avoid elimination.

Petrovic recorded five goals and 22 points in 70 regular-season outings with Texas and contributed a marker in seven AHL playoff contests. The 32-year-old isn't likely to play in Game 5 against Colorado on Wednesday.

4h agoBourque was called up from AHL Texas on Wednesday.
Bourque's promotion comes after AHL Texas was eliminated from the Calder Cup playoffs. The 22-year-old center racked up 26 goals and 51 helpers in 71 AHL regular-season contests before adding another 11 points in seven postseason games with Texas. Even if Bourque doesn't see much time in the Stanley Cup playoffs, he should be in the mix for a roster spot heading into the 2024-25 campaign given his offensive upside.

Filip Chytil NYR CRangers' Filip Chytil: Slated to be available for Thursday
5h agoChytil (illness) is slated to be an option for Thursday's Game 6 against Carolina, per Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today on Wednesday.
Chytil returned from a head injury last Thursday, but after recording a shot in 12:02 of ice time in that contest, the 24-year-old missed the past two outings due to the illness. He's also been dealing with some soreness unrelated to his previous head injury. Chytil might serve in a bottom-six role versus the Hurricanes, but it's also possible he'll be a healthy scratch.

Toews' return to the lineup should bolster the Avs' offensive options considering he has generated six points through eight postseason contests. Caleb Jones figures to be dropped from the lineup due to Toews' return. In addition to pairing with Cale Makar, the 30-year-old Toews will probably link up with the No. 2 power-play unit.
