Trey Hendrickson CIN DE
Bengals' Trey Hendrickson: Reportedly seeking trade
1h agoHendrickson has requested that the Bengals trade him, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Per Schefter, Hendrickson -- who is in line to make $15 million this coming season -- is looking for more long-term security than the team has been willing to offer to this point. The 29-year-old is coming of a 2023 campaign in which he recorded 43 tackles and made a major impact as a pass rusher by racking up a career-high 17.5 sacks in 17 regular-season games.

Micah Parsons DAL LB
Cowboys' Micah Parsons: Contract option picked up
2h agoThe Cowboys have picked up Parsons' fifth-year contract option, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
The move keeps the 2021 first-rounder -- who played the majority of his snaps at defensive end in 2023 -- under contract with Dallas through the 2025 campaign. Per Gehlken, the star defender's salary in his fifth NFL season will be $21.32 million. The 24-year-old is coming off another productive effort with the Cowboys, in which he racked up 64 tackles and a career high 14 sacks in 17 regular-season outings.

James Hurst NO OG
James Hurst: Announces retirement
3h agoHurst announced his retirement from the NFL after 10 seasons on Wednesday, Katherine Teller of ESPN reports.
Hurst has started 51 games between guard and tackle for the Saints since joining the team as a free agent after the 2020 season. He began his career as an UDFA with Baltimore. Hurst's official retirement just one day prior to the start of the 2024 NFL Draft leaves the team with a glaring need at left guard, though the team did reportedly have advanced warning of the decision. With former left tackle/guard Andrus Peat still a free agent, O-line could be a target with pick No. 14 overall.
-
Penei Sewell DET OT
Lions' Penei Sewell: Inks massive extension
4h agoSewell and the Lions agreed to terms Wednesday on a four-year, $112 million contract extension, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Sewell's deal, which reportedly includes $85 million guaranteed, makes him the highest-paid offensive lineman in the NFL. The tackle has played at a high level since joining Detroit as the No. 7 overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, but he took a step forward in 2023 while earning first-team All-Pro honors. In addition to the elite RT, the Lions extended top wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown to a four-year extension Wednesday, both one day in advance of the 2024 NFL Draft kicking off.

Rashod Bateman BAL WR
Ravens' Rashod Bateman: Inks extension with Baltimore
5h agoBateman signed a two-year contract extension Wednesday.
Bateman was already under contract through the upcoming season in the final year of his rookie deal, but the Ravens had until May 2 to decide whether to exercise the receiver's $14.44 million team option for 2025. By reaching an extension with Bateman, the Ravens will no longer have to decide on whether to exercise or decline the option, as he's now on the team's books through 2026. The 24-year-old appeared in 16 of the Ravens' 17 regular-season games this past season, catching 32 of 56 targets for 367 yards and one touchdown. Despite Bateman's underwhelming production during his third NFL season, head coach John Harbaugh noted earlier in the offseason that he views the wideout as a candidate to "take a big step" forward in 2024, per Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site. The Ravens' pass-catching corps should look mostly similar in 2024 as it did in 2023, as No. 1 wideout Zay Flowers is entering his second season and standout tight end Mark Andrews is back in the fold, though Odell Beckham is currently a free agent and may not be brought back.

Alex Highsmith PIT LB
Steelers' Alex Highsmith: Restructures deal
5h agoHighsmith and the Steelers agreed Wednesday to restructure his contract and create roughly $7 million in cap space, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Highsmith is likely converting a portion of his base salary into a signing bonus, with Rapaport calling the move a "simple" restructure. The 2020 third-round pick notched a solid 7.0 sacks across 17 regular-season appearances in 2023, a far cry from his career-high 14.5 sacks in 2022, but he remains an integral part of Pittsburgh's defense for the foreseeable future.

Framber Valdez HOU SP
Astros' Framber Valdez: Rejoining rotation this weekend
2m agoValdez (elbow) completed a 40-pitch bullpen session Wednesday and is scheduled to pitch Saturday or Sunday against the Rockies in Mexico City, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
The left-hander landed on injured list with elbow inflammation April 9, and it appears he'll return after missing little more than the 15-day minimum. Valdez will likely face some workload limitations in his first few starts back given he's only built up to 40 pitches, but it will be a welcome return for a Houston rotation that's now also missing Cristian Javier (neck).

Brusdar Graterol LAD RP
Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol: Stops throwing program
5m agoGraterol (shoulder) has stopped his throwing program due to his arm remaining sore and manager Dave Roberts stated, "It's going to be a long program" to get him back, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Graterol began a throwing progression in April to start recovering from his shoulder injury, but it appears recurring soreness will prohibit him from returning as early as hoped. The righty pitcher's time-table will likely look different now, and the hopeful outlook for a mid-May return seems less likely considering this news.
-
Miguel Amaya CHC C
Cubs' Miguel Amaya: Hits bench Wednesday
13m agoAmaya is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.
Though he'll give way to Yan Gomes behind the dish Wednesday, Amaya seems to have edged ahead of the veteran on the depth chart at catcher. Amaya started in four of the previous five games and owns a 302-point edge in OPS over Gomes for the season (.772 to .470).
-
Chas McCormick HOU LF
Astros' Chas McCormick: Moves to bench Wednesday
16m agoMcCormick is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
McCormick will take a seat after he went a collective 5-for-14 with a pair of RBI, a urn and a stolen base over the past four games. Yordan Alvarez will fill in for McCormick as the Astros' starting left fielder.
-
Carlos Correa MIN SS
Twins' Carlos Correa: Could return soon
17m agoCorrea (oblique) said Wednesday he could return during the Twins' upcoming road trip, which begins Friday against the Angels and runs through next Wednesday against the White Sox, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Correa did some glove work and took swings Wednesday as he ramps up his baseball activities, and there's a chance he returns from the injured list without a minor-league rehab assignment. The star shortstop's progress over the next few days should provide a better indication of whether a rehab stint will be necessary.
-
Zack Gelof OAK 3B
Athletics' Zack Gelof: Late scratch Wednesday
17m agoGelof was scratched from Oakland's lineup ahead of Wednesday's game versus the Yankees, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
It's unclear why the A's took Gelof out of their lineup, but the team should offer some clarity soon. Abraham Toro will replace him at the keystone while batting sixth.
-
Nikola Jovic MIA PF
Heat's Nikola Jovic: Available for Game 2
9m agoJovic (back) is available for Wednesday's Game 2 against the Celtics.
Jovic was a late addition to the injury report due to a minor back issue, but as expected, he's been upgraded from probable to available. He posted 10 points, six rebounds and a block in 26 minutes during Sunday's 114-94 Game 1 loss.
-
Mitchell Robinson NY C
Knicks' Mitchell Robinson: Questionable for Thursday
1h agoRobinson (ankle) is questionable for Game 3 versus the 76ers on Thursday.
Robinson logged 30 minutes off the bench during New York's Game 1 win, but he was limited to just 18 minutes during Game 2, so perhaps his ankle was bothering him. We'll have a better idea of Robinson's playing status based on his activity level following Thursday's shootaround, but if he is forced to the sidelines, Precious Achiuwa and Jericho Sims would have the opportunity to get into the rotation.
-
Ty Jerome CLE SG
Cavaliers' Ty Jerome: Won't play Thursday
2h agoJerome (ankle) will remain on the sidelines for Game 3 versus the Magic on Thursday.
Jerome is still recovering from ankle surgery and hasn't played since Oct. 27. Even if he's cleared to suit up during the postseason, he's unlikely to crack the rotation.
-
Jalen Suggs ORL SG
Magic's Jalen Suggs: Good to go for Game 3
2h agoSuggs (knee) isn't listed on Orlando's injury report for Thursday's Game 3 against the Cavaliers.
Suggs suffered a left knee sprain during Monday's Game 2 loss, but he returned in the second half and said he was fine following the contest. He was also able to practice Wednesday. The defensive-minded guard has totaled 22 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists, three steals and a block through the first two games of the opening-round series.
-
Craig Porter Jr. CLE PG
Cavaliers' Craig Porter: Won't play Thursday
2h agoPorter (ankle) has been ruled out for Thursday's Game 3 matchup with Orlando.
Porter has yet to play this postseason, but he's a negligible part of the rotation. His next chance to wear a uniform will come Saturday.
-
De'Anthony Melton PHI SG
76ers' De'Anthony Melton: Questionable for Thursday
2h agoMelton (back) is questionable for Thursday's Game 3 matchup with New York.
Melton has not yet made an appearance this postseason, but he was able to practice Wednesday, so he does appear to be close. However, he'll likely have his minutes closely monitored once he is eventually cleared to return.
-
William Nylander TOR RW
Maple Leafs' William Nylander: Not playing Wednesday
7m agoNylander (undisclosed) is not on the ice for warmups, indicating he won't play in Game 3 versus the Bruins on Wednesday, David Alter of The Hockey News reports.
Nylander has been a game-time call throughout the playoffs, but he'll miss his third straight contest to open the first-round series. The 27-year-old's next chance to play is Saturday's Game 4 -- he may benefit from having an extra day to try to shake off the injury.
-
Max Jones ANA LW
Ducks' Max Jones: Recovers from shoulder injury
3h agoJones has been cleared from his sprain shoulder injury, the team announced Wednesday.
Jones missed the final 11 contests of the season because of the injury. He finished 2023-24 with five goals, 15 points, 33 PIM and 125 hits in 52 outings. The 26-year-old is set to become a restricted free agent this summer, and Jones figures to maintain his bottom-six role with the Ducks if they agree on a new contract.
-
Ivan Prosvetov COL G
Avalanche's Ivan Prosvetov: Heads to AHL
3h agoProsvetov was reassigned to AHL Colorado on Wednesday.
Prosvetov had a 3.16 GAA and an .895 save percentage in 11 outings with the Avalanche during the regular season. He has also supplied a 2.33 GAA and a .921 save percentage across 21 minor-league contests.
-
Chris Wagner COL RW
Avalanche's Chris Wagner: Dropped to minors
3h agoWagner was sent down to AHL Colorado on Wednesday.
Wagner passed through waivers Tuesday in order to make him available for the Eagles' playoff matchup with AHL Abbotsford on Wednesday. Even though Wagner was a healthy scratch for the Avs' first two postseason contests, Wagner will likely come back up to the NHL ahead of Game 3 versus Winnipeg on Friday.
-
Brad Hunt COL D
Avalanche's Brad Hunt: Sent down to minors
3h agoHunt was reassigned to AHL Colorado on Wednesday.
Hunt hasn't played in either of the Avs' first two playoff games. With the Eagles kicking off the Calder Cup playoffs against AHL Abbotsford on Wednesday, the blueliner should be expected to link up with the minor-league club. Don't be surprised to see Hunt recalled to the Avalanche ahead of Friday's Game 3 clash with Winnipeg, though he figures to remain an emergency depth option.
-
Cam Talbot LA G
Kings' Cam Talbot: Set to start Wednesday
5h agoTalbot is expected to start on the road against Edmonton in Game 2 on Wednesday, per Tom Gazzola of Edmonton Sports Talk.
Talbot will seek revenge after allowing six goals on 44 shots en route to a 7-4 loss to the Oilers on Monday. He had a 27-20-6 record, 2.50 GAA and .913 save percentage in 54 regular-season appearances. Edmonton, which ranked fourth offensively with 3.56 goals per contest during the 2023-24 campaign, will continue to be a challenging opponent for the veteran goaltender.
