Ro Torrence 2005 CB
Seahawks' Ro Torrence: Lands with Seahawks
15h agoSeattle signed Torrence to a contract Friday, Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports.
Torrence wasn't selected in the NFL Draft in late April but will get a shot to make his case for a roster or practice-squad spot after signing with the Seahawks. The 6-foot-3 defensive back played the final two seasons of college with Arizona State and totaled 37 tackles (including 2.0 sacks) along with an interception in 2023. Torrence allowed just 20 receptions in coverage last season, the lowest total among Pac-12 cornerbacks with at least 300 snaps played in coverage during the regular season.

Kitan Oladapo GB SAF
Packers' Kitan Oladapo: Undergoes toe surgery
16h agoOladapo (toe) has undergone surgery and is not expected to be ready for OTAs, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Although he will miss OTAs, the team remains optimistic that Clark will be ready for training camp. He suffered a stress fracture doing drills on the turf at the NFL combine. The rookie was the third safety selected by the Packers in the 2024 NFL Draft, following Xavier McKinney and Anthony Johnson. The Oregon State product will need to get his health back to bar in order to make an impression during training camp.

Le'Raven Clark PHI OT
Eagles' Le'Raven Clark: Placed on IR
16h agoThe Eagles placed Clark on injured reserve Friday.
It is unclear what Clark's injury is or how he sustained it, but he is a rare offseason addition to IR. This will allow the Eagles' some roster flexibility going forward. The journeyman failed to make a roster or practice squad during the 2023 season, but will look to bounce back once his health is back up to par.
-
Tyler Harrell 2005 WR
Jets' Tyler Harrell: Joins Jets
16h agoThe Jets signed Harrell on Friday, Ethan Greenberg and John Pullano of the team's official site report.
Harrell totaled four receptions for 45 yards as a sixth-year senior at Miami in 2023. The Jets are thin at wide receiver going into 2024, so he could be in the competition for the last few spots on their final depth chart.
-
Shi Smith KC WR
Shi Smith: Done in Kansas City
16h agoThe Chiefs waived Smith on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Smith did not appear in a regular-season game in 2023, and now Kansas City has decided to let him go ahead of 2024. He'll have to look for his next opportunity with a different squad.
-
Anthony Miller KC WR
Anthony Miller: Let go by Chiefs
16h agoKansas City released Miller on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Miller initially signed with the Chiefs back in January, but after using both free agency and the draft to add depth at wide receiver, Kansas City has now chosen to part ways with him. He hasn't appeared in a regular-season game since 2021.
-
Cody Bellinger CHC CF
Cubs' Cody Bellinger: Increasing baseball activiteis
3m agoBellinger (ribs) is set to do hitting and defensive drills Saturday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Bellinger landed on the 10-day IL on April 24 after fracturing his right rib against the Astros the day prior. It's a good sign that the 2019 NL MVP is taking the first step in his rehab program, though Bellinger has a long ways to go before starting an assignment. In his absence, Pete Crow-Armstrong has served as the primary starter in center field and is slashing .259/.250/.444 with one home run and seven RBI over 29 plate appearances this season.

Vaughn Grissom BOS SS
Red Sox's Vaughn Grissom: Day off Saturday
30m agoGrissom isn't in the Red Sox's lineup for Saturday's game against Minnesota, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
Saturday was a planned off day for Grissom, as the Red Sox will try to ease the 23-year-old back after he missed the first month of the season due to a hamstring injury. David Hamilton will start at the keystone and bat eighth while Grissom sits.
-
Austin Wells NYY C
Yankees' Austin Wells: Gets breather Saturday
39m agoWells isn't in the Yankees' lineup Saturday against the Tigers.
After going 0-for-2 with a walk during Friday's series opener, Wells will step out of the lineup Saturday. Jose Trevino will start behind the dish instead, batting eighth.
-
Javier Baez DET SS
Tigers' Javier Baez: Sitting Saturday
42m agoBaez isn't in the Tigers' lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.
Baez will get a breather Saturday after going 0-for-4 with a strikeout during Friday's series opener. His absence will allow Zach McKinstry to start at shortstop while batting eighth.
-
Jake Rogers DET C
Tigers' Jake Rogers: Idle Saturday
44m agoRogers isn't in the Tigers' lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.
Rogers will sit out Saturday's contest despite recording a base hit in six of his last seven games. Carson Kelly will fill in behind the plate and bat ninth.
-
Michael Lorenzen TEX SP
Rangers' Michael Lorenzen: Quality start in no-decision
1h agoLorenzen allowed one earned run on four hits and three walks while striking out three batters in six innings during Friday's loss to the Royals. He didn't factor into the decision.
Despite allowing a fair amount of traffic on the bases, Lorenzen was able to keep the Royals' bats quiet for six innings outside of a fifth-inning solo home run off the bat of Hunter Renfroe. Lorenzen now sports a 3.52 ERA through across 23 innings through his first four starts, and he should have an opportunity to stay hot as he faces the A's in Oakland on Wednesday.

Kyrie Irving DAL PG
Mavericks' Kyrie Irving: Carries Mavericks to Game 6 win
2h agoIrving provided 30 points (11-19 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 3-5 FT), six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals across 42 minutes during Friday's 114-101 victory over the Clippers in Game 6 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Irving led the Mavericks on offense and was a consistent weapon alongside Luka Doncic, reaching the 30-point mark in three of the six outings in the first-round series against the Clippers. He should continue to play a prominent role on offense for Dallas ahead of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Thunder.
-
Dereck Lively II DAL C
Mavericks' Dereck Lively: Close to double-double in Game 6
2h agoLively supplied 10 points (3-3 FG, 4-8 FT), nine rebounds, three assists and one steal across 24 minutes during Friday's 114-101 victory over the Clippers in Game 6 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Lively was perfect from the field, active on the glass and efficient in limited minutes out there. The rookie has shown he can be a valuable contributor on both ends of the court when called upon duty, but his fantasy upside won't be high if he continues to play off the bench.
-
Luka Doncic DAL PG
Mavericks' Luka Doncic: Shines in series-clinching win
2h agoDoncic accumulated 28 points (9-26 FG, 1-10 3Pt, 9-11 FT), seven rebounds, 13 assists, one block and one steal in 43 minutes during Friday's 114-101 win over the Clippers in Game 6 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Kyrie Irving led the way for the Mavericks on offense, and Doncic didn't have his most efficient display, but he filled the stat sheet admirably and finished just three rebounds away from a triple-double. The fact that he surpassed the 25-point mark in all but one of the six games in the series against the Clippers shows how dominant Doncic can be on offense, and the numbers don't lie, as he averaged 29.8 points, 9.5 assists and 8.8 rebounds per game in the first round, posting four double-doubles and one triple-double in the process.
-
Ivica Zubac LAC C
Clippers' Ivica Zubac: Double-doubles in playoff exit
2h agoZubac produced 17 points (6-11 FG, 5-8 FT), 11 rebounds and one assist in 37 minutes during Friday's 114-101 loss to the Mavericks in Game 6 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
The Clippers needed someone to step up with Kawhi Leonard (knee) sidelined in Game 6, and Ivica Zubac did what he could on both ends of the court. He finished the series with three double-doubles in six outings and scored in double digits each time while shooting a robust 60 percent from the field. Zubac isn't flashy and is not one of the most athletic big men in the league, but he gets the job done. He also averaged 11.7 points and 9.2 boards per contest during the regular season.
-
Paul George LAC SF
Clippers' Paul George: Scores 18 points in Game 6 defeat
2h agoGeorge amassed 18 points (6-18 FG, 2-10 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 11 rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal over 42 minutes during Friday's 114-101 loss to the Mavericks in Game 6 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
George was asked to carry the Clippers offensively in the absence of Kawhi Leonard (knee), but he ended the series on a sour note, as he couldn't reach the 20-point mark in three of his last four appearances. In fact, George surpassed the 22-point mark just once in the six contests against the Mavericks, and his numbers throughout the series were disappointing. He averaged 19.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game while shooting 41.1 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from three-point range. Those were a clear decline compared to his regular-season figures, and it might be fair to wonder if the Clippers are going to bring him back for 2024-25, or if they might look at potential trade options during the offseason.
-
James Harden LAC PG
Clippers' James Harden: Poor shooting in season-ending loss
2h agoHarden finished with 16 points (5-16 FG, 0-6 3Pt, 6-7 FT), seven rebounds, 13 assists, one block and two steals over 43 minutes during Friday's 114-101 loss to Dallas in Game 6 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Harden was one of the players the Clippers needed to step up with Kawhi Leonard (knee) sidelined, and the veteran guard couldn't come through when the team needed him the most. He was particularly woeful in the final two games of the series, where he went 7-for-28 from the field and 1-for-13 from three-point range. He averaged 21.2 points and 8.0 assists per game in the series, but the numbers don't tell the whole story here, as the Clippers needed -- and expected -- more out of him, but he couldn't deliver when called upon duty.

Kevin Gravel NSH D
Predators' Kevin Gravel: Returns to Milwaukee
23m agoGravel was reassigned to AHL Milwaukee on Saturday.
With Nashville eliminated from postseason contention, Gravel will return to AHL Milwaukee for their playoff run. The 32-year-old defenseman last played in the NHL in the 2022-23 season, where he logged one assist in 23 games.
-
Juuso Parssinen NSH C
Predators' Juuso Parssinen: Returned to AHL affiliate
26m agoParssinen was reassigned to AHL Milwaukee on Saturday.
Parssinen was in the lineup Friday in Nashville's 1-0 loss to Vancouver in Game 6. The defeat eliminated the Predators from the postseason, so the 23-year-old forward will get to play in the AHL playoffs instead. In 44 regular-season games for the Predators in 2023-24, Parssinen had eight goals and four assists. Look for him to suit up as a middle-six forward for Nashville's next campaign.
-
Danton Heinen BOS C
Bruins' Danton Heinen: Game-time decision Saturday
37m agoPer Bell Fraser of The Hockey News, Heinen (undisclosed) participated in the morning skate and will be a game-time decision versus Toronto on Saturday in Game 7.
Heinen missed Thursday's 2-1 loss in Game 6 because of the injury. He skated with the second power-play unit to start the practice session before being replaced by Justin Brazeau. Montgomery stated that Heinen's availability for the game will depend on how the 28-year-old forward feels later in the day. If Heinen is unavailable, John Beecher will take his place in the lineup.
-
Alex Pietrangelo LV D
Golden Knights' Alex Pietrangelo: Supplies helper in win
10h agoPietrangelo recorded an assist, four shots on goal and four blocked shots in Friday's 2-0 win over the Stars in Game 6.
The helper was Pietrangelo's first point in six playoff outings. The veteran defenseman has added 10 shots on net, eight hits, 13 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating. Pietrangelo is seeing top-four minutes, but he's also being leaned on for his defense, so his chances to produce points may be limited.
-
William Karlsson LV C
Golden Knights' William Karlsson: Gets on scoresheet Friday
10h agoKarlsson registered an assist in Friday's 2-0 win over the Stars in Game 6.
After a 60-point regular season, Karlsson was silenced for the first five games of the first round. He broke the slump by setting up Mark Stone's empty-netter Friday, though that's hardly a sign of good things to come for Karlsson. The veteran center is stuck in a third-line role, and his defensive skills are strong enough to prevent him from getting more favorable matchups. Karlsson has added nine shots on net, six hits and a plus-3 rating through six playoff outings.
-
Mark Stone LV RW
Golden Knights' Mark Stone: Fills empty cage
10h agoStone scored an empty-net goal in Friday's 2-0 win over the Stars in Game 6.
Stone has produced modest offense in the first round, earning three goals with 10 shots on net , 12 hits and a minus-2 rating over six appearances. He's exceeded 18 minutes of ice time in four of those games, so it's safe to assume he's not being bothered too much by the lacerated spleen that kept him out of the last 26 games of the regular season. Stone should continue to play on the second line and first power-play unit.
