Michael Wilson ARI WRCardinals' Michael Wilson: Outlook muddied after recent arrivals
3h agoWilson has more competition for targets from quarterback Kyler Murray after the team selected Marvin Harrison fourth overall in this year's draft and then signed seven-year pro Zay Jones last week, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Wilson spent much of the offseason No. 2, at best, in the pecking order in the Cardinals passing game behind tight end Trey McBride, but the recent additions leave Wilson's potential volume in the upcoming campaign up in the air. As a rookie second-round pick last year, Wilson put together a 38-565-3 line on 58 targets in 13 contests, but he produced just 13 catches (on 25 targets) for 164 yards and one touchdown in five outings with Murray under center. The arrival of the dynamic Harrison likely leaves Wilson fending for looks with Jones, who has three years with at least 500 receiving yards on his resume.

4h agoElliss (shoulder) should be fully healed by training camp, Mike Klis of 9News reports.
Elliss underwent surgery to repair a torn shoulder labrum six months ago, but he still isn't quite 100 percent. However, the Broncos' 2024 third-round selection was able to take part in walkthroughs and individual portions of the team's recent rookie minicamp. The son of former NFL player, Luther Elliss, Jonah projects to be a pass-rush specialist after recording 12 sacks in just 10 games at Utah last season.

5h agoHavrisik was waived by the Browns on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Havrisik signed a reserve/future contract with Cleveland in January after the Rams waived him. He was expected to at least have the opportunity to compete with Dustin Hopkins (hamstring) and Cade York for the team's kicker job in 2024, but instead, he'll become a free agent once again.

6h agoLuciano was waived by the 49ers on Tuesday, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
Luciano was set to get a second opportunity with the 49ers after appearing in two games with the franchise last season. However, he'll now hit the open market again, to make room for swing tackle Chris Hubbard, and to keep San Francisco under the 90-man roster limit.

6h agoAppearing on The Rich Eisen Show on Monday, Lions GM Brad Holmes said he "definitely would expect" Gibbs to "see more of the load" out of the backfield in 2024.
Holmes added that he thinks Gibbs will also be even more involved in the passing game in his second season. Only seven running backs saw more targets than Gibbs' 71 in 2023, and his 52 catches were tied for the ninth-most at the position. Backfield mate David Montgomery out-carried Gibbs 219 to 182, but Gibbs had a commanding edge in the pass game with 47 more targets than the veteran. There's reason to believe Gibbs' touches will rise in 2024, but Montgomery isn't going away. This backfield will remain a one-two punch, and Montgomery is the favorite for carries when the Lions are trying to kill the clock when they have a lead. Gibbs' fantasy ceiling remains extremely high due to the overall explosive nature of Detroit's offense.

Brown headed to San Francisco in February after appearing in 12 games over two seasons with the Rams. The Northwestern product will depart the team, along with center Corey Luciano, to make room for recent additions, Chris Hubbard and Shakel Brown to keep the 49ers under the current 90-man roster limit.

There are a few factors that explain the drop in attempts, per Alex Speier of The Boston Globe. Opposing teams became aware of Duran's potential impact, and the Red Sox have been more judicious after running into several outs early in the season. Additionally, manager Alex Cora asked Duran to run less given that he plays every day.

21m agoSoler (shoulder/head) didn't suffer any significant injuries after getting hit in the head while hitting on the field Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Soler took swings on the field before Tuesday's game against the Dodgers as the next step in rehabbing his strained right shoulder, but he was removed by a trainer after a foul ball hit off the top of the cage and struck him in the head. However, it appears the outfielder managed to escape the incident with minimal damage. He will be eligible to come off the injured list Wednesday, though there is no telling whether or not he'll be ready to play then.

22m agoHendriks (elbow) extended his throwing program out to 120 feet Monday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
Hendriks also threw pitches off flat ground. He believes he's on track for a return roughly at the trade deadline, which would be about the one-year anniversary of the reliever's Tommy John surgery.

Marco Luciano SF SSGiants' Marco Luciano: Recalled from Triple-A
32m agoThe Giants recalled Luciano from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday.
Luciano has spent the entire season with Sacramento so far, slashing .266/.399/.344 with 20 RBI across 158 plate appearances. He'll come up from the minors to give San Francisco additional infield depth, taking the roster spot of Patrick Bailey (concussion).

37m agoThe Giants placed Bailey on the 7-day concussion IL on Tuesday, retroactive to Sunday.
Bailey missed the Giants' last two games due to an illness, and he met with a team doctor Monday to determine whether or not his illness was related to the concussion he suffered earlier in May. He will now return to the concussion IL and will be eligible to return to action Sunday, though the Giants will likely be more cautious this time around before inserting him back into their lineup. Blake Sabol will take over as San Francisco's primary catcher while Bailey is out, and Marco Luciano will come up from Triple-A Sacramento to fill the open roster spot.

1h agoBlanco was ejected from Tuesday's game against the A's ahead of the fourth inning after umpires examined his glove for a foreign substance, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
The umpires confiscated Blanco's glove for further examination from Major League Baseball, and the 30-year-old righty will be hit with an automatic 10-game suspension if it's determined he used an illegal substance while on the mound. Blanco has emerged as a crucial part of Houston's rotation this year, carrying a 2.23 ERA and 1.02 WHIP alongside a 41:20 K:BB across 44.1 innings through his first seven starts. He had fired three scoreless innings while striking out four batters and walking one before getting tossed from Tuesday's contest.

McAvoy had been held off the scoresheet for seven games entering Tuesday. He helped out on Morgan Geekie's first-period tally before scoring the game-winning goal midway through the second. McAvoy has been limited to six points over 12 playoff outings, but he's added plenty of physicality with 52 hits, 33 blocked shots and 18 PIM. The 26-year-old blueliner continues to play in a top-pairing role.

6m agoSwayman stopped 28 of 29 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Panthers in Game 5.
Swayman snapped a three-game losing streak with the effort, which saw him allow the lone goal to Sam Reinhart in the second period. The Bruins still face an uphill battle, but it's likely to be Swayman who will have the chance to keep their season going. He's 6-5 over 11 playoff outings and has allowed two or fewer goals in eight of those contests. Game 6 is Friday in Boston.

Swayman has allowed 12 goals during his three-game losing streak, but head coach Jim Montgomery is sticking with the 25-year-old with the Bruins' season on the line. Through 10 playoff outings, Swayman has a 2.28 GAA and a .930 save percentage, though he has lost two of his last three road games.

He has generated two goals, four assists, 13 shots on net and 15 hits in 11 outings this postseason. If Hintz isn't available to play in Game 5, Radek Faksa or Ty Dellandrea could suit up in Wednesday's contest versus Colorado.
