Tee Higgins CIN WRBengals' Tee Higgins: Not expected for start of OTAs
5h agoHiggins is not expected to sign his franchise tender by the end of the week, which will make him ineligible to report in time for the start of OTAs next week, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Higgins formally requested a trade from Cincinnati after the team placed the franchise tag on him prior to free agency. He appeared to have a change of heart in April, as the wideout hinted that he anticipated playing for the Bengals in 2024 at his youth camp, per Ben Baby of ESPN.com. It remains to be seen if that will occur via the franchise tag or the long-term extension the pass catcher has been seeking. As of now, it looks like this conflict will linger into OTAs.

7h agoParker announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Two months after signing a one-year contract with the Eagles, Parker has had a change of heart on a 10th season in the league. The 31-year-old cited spending more time with his family as the primary factor in his decision. He spent his first seven seasons in Miami before playing the previous two in New England. The Louisville product's most productive season came in 2019, as he tallied 1,202 yards and nine touchdowns on 72 receptions for the Dophins. He was projected to compete for a role behind A.J. Brown (knee) and DeVonta Smith at wide receiver in the upcoming season.

7h agoStrange (knee) was labeled as "month to month" in his recovery process by New England coach Jerod Mayo on Monday.
The offensive guard suffered the knee injury during a Week 15 loss to the Chiefs in 2023. Strange then missed the Patriots' final three games of the season. The 2022 first-round pick started all 17 regular-season games as a rookie and all 10 that he played in last season.

7h agoSirmon was waived by the Browns on Monday, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.
The quarterback signed with the Browns on May 12 after participating in the team's rookie minicamp. During his final collegiate season at Northern Colorado in 2023, Sirmon completed 56.4 percent of his passes for 1,255 yards, eight touchdowns and nine interceptions.

8h agoSanders suffered a torn Achilles on Monday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
The second-year linebacker played in all 17 games as a rookie but started only four, making 24 tackles. Sanders was likely to play a role in Denver's inside linebacker rotation with projected starters Alex Singleton and Cody Barton. Now, the 2023 third-round pick will miss most or all of the 2024 campaign.

8h agoWhite (biceps) took part in Arizona's first OTA Monday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
The linebacker tore his biceps Week 11 of last season and missed the last six games. Before going out with the injury, White recorded 90 tackles and three passes defensed. The Cardinals signed him to a two-year, $10 million contract in 2023, so White should be in line to start this year if he stays healthy.

6m agoOlson went 3-for-8 with a home run, a walk and two total RBI across both games of Monday's doubleheader split with San Diego.
Olson did most of his damage in Game 1, swatting a solo homer and adding another RBI on a single. The first baseman has gotten off to a slow start this season with a .230/.332/.410 slash line and just six homers through 44 games after going deep a career-high 54 times last year. Olson has been perking up with the bat of late, though, hitting .393 (11-for-28) with two home runs and seven RBI over his past eight contests.

It was a close game until the sixth inning, when Perez ignited a six-run rally for the Royals with his solo shot. The catcher has hit safely in six straight games, going 10-for-21 (.476) in that span. the homer was his first since May 3. Perez remains one of the top hitters in baseball this season with a .341/.404/.565 slash line, nine long balls, 38 RBI, 19 runs scored and 11 doubles over 47 contests.

Kevin Newman ARI SSDiamondbacks' Kevin Newman: Raps out three hits
10m agoNewman went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and one run scored in Monday's 6-4 loss to the Dodgers.
Newman has five multi-hit efforts over his last nine games, going 15-for-31 (.484) in that span. The shortstop still isn't hitting for a lot of power, but he's been able to make decent contact. For the season, he has a .276/.311/.439 slash line with two home runs, 11 RBI, 13 runs scored, a stolen base, eight doubles and a triple over 103 plate appearances. Newman should continue to handle the starting job at shortstop at least until Geraldo Perdomo (knee) is able to return, likely in early June.

Randy Vasquez SD SPPadres' Randy Vasquez: Gets no run support in loss
12m agoVasquez (0-3) took the loss against Atlanta in the second game of a doubleheader Monday, allowing three runs on 10 hits and no walks while striking out two batters over six innings.
Vasquez yielded a season-high 10 hits, but he still managed his first quality start of the campaign. In fact, this was the first time through five starts that he's been able to complete more than five frames. The right-hander was by no means impressive with just two punchouts, but he did manage to keep the Padres in the contest, though San Diego's offense was unable to provide any runs in support. Vasquez has posted a mediocre 5.82 ERA and 1.75 WHIP through 21.2 innings, and he could be moved out of the rotation -- and potentially off the big-league roster -- with Joe Musgrove (elbow) slated to return from the injured list Tuesday.

McCarthy has two homers over 16 games in May, but he's collected just five hits over his last eight contests. The outfielder is up to two homers on the season while slashing .283/.357/.414 over 114 plate appearances. He's added three stolen bases, 12 RBI, 15 runs scored, five doubles and a triple. Pavin Smith has been the biggest threat to McCarthy's playing time in right field lately, and Randal Grichuk is also in the mix to poach some at-bats versus southpaws.

Gurriel snapped a 26-game homer drought with his eighth-inning blast. The outfielder has gone 11-for-45 (.244) over his last 12 contests, adding just five RBI and five runs scored in that span. He's at a .236/.284/.385 slash line with six homers, 27 RBI, 24 runs scored and two stolen bases over 44 contests this season. He's never posted a batting average lower than .261 or an OPS lower than .743 over a full season, so there's room for Gurriel to turn things around in 2024.

9h agoTillman is questionable for Tuesday's Game 1 against the Pacers due to personal reasons, Taylor Snow of the Celtics' official site reports.
Tillman hasn't been a consistent part of the rotation during the playoffs, appearing in just three matchups and averaging 1.3 points and 2.0 rebounds in 8.3 minutes per game. While it's unclear whether he'll be available to begin the Eastern Conference Finals, his status shouldn't significantly impact the rotation.

10h agoPorzingis (calf) has been ruled out for Tuesday's Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals versus the Pacers.
As expected, Porzingis will remain sidelined to start the Eastern Conference Finals due to a right calf strain he suffered in Boston's opening-round series versus Miami. The Latvian big man didn't practice Monday, so it doesn't appear he's close to game action. However, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported Friday that Boston is optimistic that Porzingis could return at some point during the series versus Indiana.

14h agoPorzingis (calf) didn't participate in Monday's practice session, Jay King of The Athletic reports.
Porzingis sustained a calf injury during the first round of the playoffs and isn't expected to be available for the start of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Pacers. His absence from practice reflects that pessimism, while Al Horford and Luke Kornet should continue to see an uptick in playing time during Tuesday's Game 1.

20h agoCaldwell-Pope racked up five points (2-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt), six rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals in 40 minutes during Sunday's 98-90 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Caldwell-Pope scored single digits for the sixth time in the past eight games, highlighting the Nuggets' struggles when it comes to depth on the offensive end. While he continues to play a key role for Denver, his lack of production cannot be ignored when it comes to fantasy value. Looking ahead to next season, there is no reason to think he will be anything more than a situational streamer, utilized for steals and threes.

20h agoMurray provided 35 points (13-27 FG, 4-12 3Pt, 5-5 FT), three rebounds and three assists over 43 minutes during Sunday's 98-90 loss to Minnesota in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Murray did everything he could to get the Nuggets over the line but ultimately came up short. He and Nikola Jokic scored 69 of the Nuggets' 90 points, highlighting just how unimpactful their bench was. While it was a disappointing end for Murray, his production this year aligned with what fantasy managers expected coming into the season. Given they will likely be contending again next season, there is no reason to think anything changes from a fantasy perspective in 2024-25.

20h agoPorter posted seven points (3-12 FG, 1-6 3Pt), nine rebounds and two blocks across 34 minutes during Sunday's 98-90 loss to the Timberwolves in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Porter went just 1-for-6 from the three-point line, continuing a rough series for the sharpshooter. Over the seven-game span, Porter scored fewer than 10 points on five occasions. It was an unfortunate end for Porter after he managed to put together a strong season. Despite the poor postseason performance, Porter should be able to maintain mid-round value in most fantasy formats next season.

Lindholm did his part in the second round with three goals and four assists over seven games, but it wasn't enough to extend the Canucks' season. The center produced 22 points over 39 contests between the regular season and playoffs with Vancouver following his trade from Calgary. The 29-year-old is set for unrestricted free agency and figures to be one of the biggest names on the market July 1, assuming he doesn't re-up with the Canucks before then.

Hughes produced five assists over seven second-round games. The 24-year-old defenseman concluded the postseason with 10 helpers, 21 shots on net, 14 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating across 13 appearances. Hughes' goal-scoring took a step forward with 17 tallies among his 92 points in the regular season, but he's always been more of a facilitator from the blue line. The Canucks' captain remains an integral part of the club's future heading into 2024-25.

2h agoHronek scored a goal on two shots and added three hits in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Oilers in Game 7.
Hronek earned his first career playoff tally late in the third period, but the Canucks couldn't follow it up with an equalizer. The 26-year-old defenseman was limited to two points, 13 shots on net, 25 hits, 15 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating over 13 postseason appearances in his first taste of playoff action. Hronek will be a restricted free agent this summer -- the only skater on the Canucks' roster with that status -- so getting him signed will likely be a top priority for general manager Patrik Allvin.

Garland had three goals over seven games in the second round, but his contributions couldn't make up for the Canucks' overall unsteady offense. The winger posted five points, 24 shots on net and an even plus-minus rating over 13 playoff appearances. Garland enters 2024-25 with two years left on the five-year deal he signed in 2021, so it's likely he'll remain in a middle-six role for the Canucks going forward.

Canucks' Arturs Silovs: Loses Game 7
2h agoSilovs allowed three goals on 29 shots in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Oilers in Game 7.
Silovs took consecutive losses at the NHL level for the first time in his career, and it couldn't have come at a worse time for the Canucks. He allowed eight goals on 56 shots over Games 6 and 7. Overall, he went 5-5 in the playoffs, allowing 29 goals over 10 contests. It's not a particularly impressive body of work, but it's enough to think Silovs will enter 2024-25 as backup to Thatcher Demko (knee) if Casey DeSmith walks in free agency. Silovs will also need a new contract as a restricted free agent.

Kulak has a helper in two of the last three contests. The 30-year-old set up defense partner Cody Ceci's tally in the second period of Game 7. Kulak is up to four points, eight shots on net, 18 blocked shots, 17 hits and a plus-3 rating through 12 playoff appearances while filling a third-pairing role.
